If they're using an SSD, it had better be a good one. Wouldn't want them to use a bad SSD and require everyone to replace their PS4 every couple years, when it degraded.

If that happened, you could just replace the SSD. no need to get a whole new PS4 just to replace the drive. thats assuming you can swap out the drives like you can with the PS3. you could actually put an SSD in your PS3 right now if you wanted.

that said, hopefully that can be avoided with a good solid SSD :P

Unless they decide to do it how Microsoft did with the 360 when the 120gb HDD's came out for them (or some other nonsense) ~$200 for a 120gb HDD that is useless for anything but a 360, Idk about the HDD's after they changed over to the Sata drives (360).

SSDS's have advanced allot sense the first gen models, i have a first gen OCZ and its still kicking along with heavy use once in awhile. gaming in general, which ssd's excel at. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/dance.gif

One thing you can't though do to a ssd is defrag it. it'll shorten its life span by half.

Note they also have come down in price allot to. you could get them as low as 60$ at times.

I have a year and a half old PS3 since my last one YLOD. GTAV just got delayed to September. I reallllly can't afford a console with my library of games.

Delayed maybe because of the ps4 soon to be announced http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif, i wouldn't mind seeing Crysis 3 on the ps4 to, I wouldn't touch origin even with a long pointy stick http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif Edited by Thor.

I'm not sure how anyone can defend the durability of the current gen consoles. They got far more problems with defects and malfunctions than most of the previous consoles. I still got a first gen PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, and even a Sega CD that still works. All the cartridge systems still work. Every previous console system I've purchased up until this gen has stood the test of time. I also don't need any specialty tools to take them apart and clean the dust out of them.

I've had 2 YLOD PS3s, and 1 360 (didn't buy another one). I've also had 3 HDDs go bad in PS3s, which is more HDDs than I've had go bad in all the PCs I've ever owned.

Casualties this gen: 3

All previous generations combined: 0

If all these rumours are correct then Sony could well be making a massive mistake, one that could finally finish them. Sony cannot afford to take a large loss on these machines, the company is in a mess, Fitch downgraded their credit rating to junk status and Moodys have them only one notch above, they've even had to sell their U.S HQ, that's how bad things are. The PS4 must be profitable from the off, that means they either try and sell the things for a small fortune, something that is suicide in the current climate or they go Nintendo's gimmick route. They couldn't sell the PS3 in the middle of a boom for $600, they sure as hell won't have much luck selling the PS4 at that price today.
