EDIT: ... Seems to be a problem with the mod itself.

EDIT II: No it wasn't a problem with the mod. It really gets annoying. :(

Well actually....though we may retain more members from Steam sales (since yes they will come back) that isn't the issue. When folks get a new moddable game many come immediately and download a bunch of mods (Like if you get Skyrim you get some of the most popular listed mods right away) and then go play. After a few days of this people have gotten many of the popular mods (that have been out a long time) and though they remain and return, they don't all come back and download a bunch all at the same time again. They disburse their downloading times so that there is not the extreme pull on the servers.

Let me use an analogy.

You go off to college (university) with all new students and get a new apartment right two days before school starts. Everyone goes to the local supermarket and buys groceries. The place is really busy and crowded because everyone is shopping at once cause as no one has food yet and needs to stock up right away (and maybe they have every register in the store busy ringing up people but the line is super slow!)

The supermarket retains those customers but unlike when everyone first moves in, when they are busy all at once, the people will shop at different times and days in the future and thus you don't really notice the raise in customers. They aren't all there at once trying to do their shopping all at the same two days before school.

It doesn't make sense for the supermarket to spend money to build on an entire new building, 10 new registers and all the folks to run them for something that only happens for a few days. However if the supermarket continues to see new customers all year, then they might make a little addon to the store and one or two new registers (which is what the Nexus has done over time-tried to make it better with more servers, the way things are downloaded, etc.)

Does this make more sense?

That's a great analogy. It is rather pointless to add additional lanes of highway for a temporary traffic jam (oops another analogy!). Just wait patiently (or don't). Aside from this weekend the servers are more stable now than ever. And damn Octo, tell me how you really feel. Edited by akkalat85

So what if I have to wait about 20-45 seconds (or more) to download a file from the premium servers due to heavy load on the sites in general?

This is the Nexus. I've come to expect the occasional hiccup in services, roll with the punches, and take it all in stride with a smile on my face.

And its summer here in the US, kids out of school, new mods for games, butt crumpets firing up their DDoS systems... Expect issues.

So hang on tight.

There's a bit of an issue: Accidental Smilies.

I feel like I was going to write something more here, but it seems to have slipped my mind! Haha... That's been happening a lot lately...

On Thursday here in the U.S, I will be buying a lifetime premium membership to the Nexus. I'm tired of all the download issues so-called "Normal Members" are having to face during high-traffic times so I will solve that issue by purchasing a lifetime premium membership when I get paid on Thursday. A lifetime membership is the very best value for my buck since it is a one-time deal & will never expire once I pay said membership fee. I suggest everyone who can afford such a membership do the same. Not only will one be rid of all the download issues that the normal servers seem to end up with permanently, one will also be supporting the Nexus by helping out with their operating costs. I'm not complaining nor am I bashing the Nexus or its staff when I say this either. I've been debating on whether to purchase a lifetime premium membership for quite some time now & this latest debacle with the servers acting up due to major traffic issues has cemented my decision to go ahead with purchasing said membership. I will shell out the $80.00 to Nexus & be done with it on Thursday. I just hope the site accepts Mastercard debit cards. Peace!
