  1. Question: I checked the Wiki for an answer and didn't find one. Has anyone worked out a script to add new items to vendor lists so that other mods don't overwrite changes from another. My Casting Circles mod adds Spell Tomes for the spells to the Restoration Lists, but I'm wondering if it might get over written. Or is it even necessary to do it? Is Skyrim 'smart' enough to merge lists? If anyone knows I'd be much obliged.
  2. Actually, I'd think that very rare loot should be something usable, since A) it's rather a lot of trouble to get whatever it is. Unless you're a Kill everything then say nothing living saw me. Thief types. And B) TES is all about nice or naughty rewards. So the nice reward is handing it back, and the naughty is keeping it yourself. For example you've been asked to retrieve a unique stolen soul gem (As in a new instance of a filled Grand Soul Gem) before necromancers use it. Then you have three options. 1) Retrieve the Gem before they can use it. 2) Let them use it then steal the nicely enchanted weapon. (A little more complicated because you've got to design a table of weapons that are slightly better than what the player can actually craft, so there's an incentive to actually go that way. 3) Steal the Soul Gem for their own use. The latter two should count as mission failure, unless you want to add a stage where the weapon can be returned instead of the soul gem. The other problem is making the weapon strong enough to be worth it, while not having it be so strong that there's no incentive to ever return the gem. And you'll have to add them to the thug/assassins for failing lines.
  3. Sounds quite cool. Even better if you set up catapults to randomly fire out of the fort, and into the attackers. The more firepower you can throw out of the castle the more fun it is. Perhaps have it controllable within the game. You can pull levers to turn some on and off.
  4. There's a difference between removing a mod, and updating a file that contains it. As long as all the things are the same, just merged into one file, it will probably complain about not having it, and then let you play without issue. All the message means it that the file isn't the same. I know from play testing my own mod.
  5. I always felt the running battle with the previous boss meant that they made the last fight easier. My own most disappointing moment was having a dragon land for me to complete the epic fight and then have giant walk up and kill it with a single shot. And it wasn't even a vanilla dragon, it was one of those mighty super Deadly Dragons Dragons. I think it was a snow dragon. Yeah, deadly... Oh, and the end of the last thieves guild quest. By rights we should have had to out run a boulder or something.
  6. Sadly, 100 ways to die in Skyrim was terribly more funny. And they're right, if more than 10% of your video is advertising, particularly one throwing boobs into my face, I'm less likely to bother waiting for the video.
  7. I guess I'll try changing it to a default color, see what kind of result it gets.
  8. Hmm... nope, not seeing a BSLightingShaderProperty. I've got BSEffectShaderProperty. Is that what I need? Healinghazard.nif is the file I'm looking at.
  9. Script check to see if the item is in position every minute or so, and if it's not, spawn a new one there?
  10. http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1354218-an-open-letter-to-bethesda-regarding-ck/ That's a link where Joel Burgess notes that they're working on it because the version they used had a couple of features just different enough from release that they didn't have the bug. So they're working to fix it because they didn't know there was one.
  11. I'm looking to make a custom hazard for my Casting Circles, changing the bright yellow one from Guardian Circle into a mystical blue one. What I'm not sure of is how to change the color. It seems like it's something in Nifskope, but I'm not sure WHAT. Does anyone know? Thank you in advance.
  12. Essentially what you do is take the default wall trap, right click>edit then change the editor ID. Now change the damage, and when it asks if you want a new form, tell it yes. Now you have a much more powerful trap that won't mess up other traps in the game.
  13. Okay, so I've created a room with lighting and dropped in switches. I've got the Light Switch script from the CK wiki, and now I'm stumped as to how to link the switch to the lights and have the light's turn off. So far I've managed not more than causing the switch to vanish when it's activated. Anyone help? Okay, figured that out. How can I link a lever to a door?
  14. Also remember that it's entirely possible to sink objects into one another. Take two houses, and put them together so the roofs merge and you have a house longer than normal. Don't want the second door? Drop in another house and turn it around. Now you've got two fronts. Also play around with scale. Covering a door by taking a full size house, shrinking it an placing it over the door will hide it entirely and look like a custom room. It's a Creation Kit, be creative.
  15. You sir, are an absolute and utter GENIUS. I was attempting to modify the completely wrong thing. I thank you from the very bottom of my magicka using heart. I have a feeling that this will make Destruction a much more useful school, particularly those mana hogging Master spells. Thank you so very much.
  16. Punch Epona into the search, and you'll see there's already a recolor.
  17. I'm pretty good at blending with GIMP, rather than photoshop. I'm apparently pretty hopeless with the CK at the moment, so I might be able to help.
  18. Okay, I'm really kind of frustrated with the Creation Kit at the moment. My idea was to start with, to take the Guardian Circle Spell, and turn it into a booster for mages to increase both natural magicka regeneration, and provide a slow trickle of magicka as long as you were in the circle. Well, so far that hasn't worked. I've managed to get it to drop a rune, with some fire, but no actual effect on anything. Of course I have no clue how I did it, or why it did nothing else,Mostly though, I end up with a spell that just makes my hand glow and won't charge, and won't do anything. I suspected I might have to play with Papyrus Scripting, but that's apparently a no go. First of all I had to go into the Data files to create a Source directory so I could even create a new script and it flat out refuses to do anything with it, saying it can't find a .flg file, and that it can't find any sort of effect that the script is supposedly effecting. HELP, please? I'm really completely at the end of my rope. I'd be absurdly grateful to anyone who can point me in the right direction.
  19. Midas Magic also has a polymorph rabbit spell. Mostly crowd control consists of getting the enemies to fight each other, usually with Fury and Calm. That said, with things like WARZONES, having a crowd control seems to be a must.
  20. It's certainly possible, but you'll have trouble with archers. Swords and other weapons can be dodged. If you simply dislike the large shield size, you might like Bucklers. The other thing you might end up with in the off hand is a torch though. It's actually a bit more handy than a shield, since in addition to stagger, it sets them on fire for the main weapon to do more damage. Jaysus has some nicer looking two-handers by the way.
  21. I always play me as my first character. Then the stumbling around with no clue of what I'm doing makes complete sense. The second time around I make up a character so it makes sense that he/she/it already know the place.
  22. Got a couple. First thing first, I arrive in Riften, and hand in a couple of quests for the Thieves Guild as I leave, I see the red dot whip by on the compass, and I look up to see a dragon buzzing around the city. And the way it's circling there's only a few times you can shoot and hit it. The guards are raining arrows into the sky, and just can't hit it. I don't have Dragonrend yet either, so there's only one option. I go tearing across the city, up into Mistveil, bolt through the barracks and up the stairs, then out onto the balcony. Now I can manage to get a shot off and it nails the dragon. It proceeds to set me on fire. Fortunately, I had my protective gear on, and I didn't die. Of course the attack run sets it up for the guards to fill it with arrows. It wheels around, lands on Maven's house and tries to ignite me again. Fortunately for me I was already dropping over the railing into the canal. I get back up and it lands. Riften doesn't have a lot of good landing places so it ends up straddling the canal between Maven's and the Bee and Barb. That's where it dies. I absorb it's soul, and it slithers downwards finally settling to rest at the bottom of the canal. Of course then all the gawkers file down to wonder if it's really dead. Second, playing with Midas Magic, I'm running from Riverwood to Whiterun as a wolf, for encumbrance reasons, and a Dragon shows itself just outside Riverwood. I'm expecting to die, since I have no attack ability. Instead it strafes me once with ice and then flies away. Odd, but I'm no complaining. Grovuz Org-Vorgu is not welcome in Markarth, after impolitely informing the guards he has no intention of ending up in Cidhna Mine. With a mace to the face. Traveling through the reach, heading from the Orc stronghold in the south to Solitude in the north, a bounty collector appears, and attacks. He also gets a mace, but it knocks his head clean from his shoulders in one blow. Too awesome. Particularly watching the head float down the river. Having run from Whiterun to Riverwood, I'm surprised to see a dragon attack Riverwood. I hit it with some arrows to lure it away and start leading it to towards Whiterun. As I'm doing this, I run across a group of Thalmor with a prisoner. I set the prisoner free. The thalmor don't like that, but they like the dragon burning them to death even less. It's actually pretty funny. At least up until I see it kill one of the Whiterun guards. I finally manage to kill it with arrows. Just funny to see the Thalmor get roasted. Finally, the Dragon afraid of cats. My thief took a carriage to Windhelm to return a moon amulet. Arriving to find that the Khajiti merchants hadn't stopped, (for good reason), My Khajit ducked into the stable to buy a horse to catch up with them. Stepping back out, the music begins. The soft chanting of the Dragonborn. And the world goes white as a frost breathing blood dragon tries to ice me. Returning fire with my bow, the battle is joined by the local guards, and the Khajit caravan, though they don't play a role right away. Instead the dragon does it's best to eliminate the guards, and me. After being pincushioned a couple of times while it hovered to blast fire, it decides to attack the caravan. Bad idea. I can see from the bridge as the four Khajit pound the dragon enough that it takes off again very quickly. It passes the bridge, gets further pincushioned, and crashes near the farms. I jump off the bridge, and begin sprinting up the hill. I arrive just as it finishes off a guard with it's head attack and turns on me. I charge straight in and finish the job with the leaping charge power attack. Awesome.
  23. Only five? Well, then: 1: SkyUI because as so many have said, the default UI bites. 2: Midas Magic, because the default spells and such are not nearly as awesome as what Midas Magic has done even now. Including Resurrection spells for dealing with things Dragons have killed. 3: Jaysus Swords, because the variety in the default game is great, but limited in scope. Jaysus takes advantage of this and runs away with it like mad. 4: Open Cities. Because I like to ride my horse in town. And it's a bloody long way up to Dragon's Reach from the front gate. 5: Horse Bags. Because it's an inventory for the horse. 'Nough said.
  24. So playing as a thief and wizard, I notice there are a lot of places that if I could simply teleport to, the game would be easier. Particularly for a thief. So I'm suggesting something pretty simple. Two arrows, one orange, one blue. Each one would on impact turn into a more or less invisible node, that when a second arrow is fired, turns into a linked, glowing one. So for example, I fire one arrow up on top of a house, say a blue one, then fire the an orange one at a nearby wall. I can then activate the now glowing orange one and teleport directly to the blue one. Not only useful, but it would fit in well with the Space Core mod.
  25. You might try other types of jobs. You don't have to do one of each to get it done. I think you can also do Vex's jobs in Markarth to count.
