  1. ---------------------------"Checkov's Safe"--------------------------- A possible quest idea by VaultPi The Hook: A pre-war bank with an impenertrable safe, the computers are dead, it's timelocked not lock pickable. However with a certain amount of explosives you should be able to crack the safe. Location: Put the safe anywhere, perhaps a generic building that can be "destroyed" by the explosion. Result: A large Nuclear Boom! Safe goes flying out the roof, now where did it land......(Note this could probably not be witnessed, but you could be told by a message box) Of course the safe has landed somewhere new and interesting, and while still not broken, it has landed on something else, opening a way, after crushing some big bad wasteland moster like a Deathclaw Alpha or (Simplywayne90 here, maybe it crushes zombie hilter....old joke of mine) I;m guessing the contents of the safe and the area it opens are up to any future readers?
  2. ---------------------------"The Most Dangerous Hunt"--------------------------- A possible quest idea by SomeGuyNamedJoe In Fallout:New Vegas, there are four Legendary Creatures. I think there should be an incentive to kill all four of them, other than the obvious Mercy which you get for killing the Deathclaw. In the Tops, in the Four Aces Theater, there is an old man, named "Marskman Mark." He's sitting at one of the tables, with several whiskey bottles in front of him, drunker than hell. Upon approaching him, he tells you to to screw off, but with a bit of prodding, he will tell you his problem. Marksman Mark is a retired NCR veteran, one of the finest shots in all of the First Recon. He is known to the Legion as "Niveus Nex," or "White Death." He was recruited into the NCR when they first moved into the Mojave, where he was known for being an expert hunter from Goodsprings. He was eventually forced to retire with a purple heart when he was shot in the shoulder, rending his left arm useless. He is depressed because he is no longer able to hunt prey, and he was never able to live his dream; killing the four Legends of the Mojave. He will tell you dozens of hunters have died fighting them, and he wanted to be the first to kill them all. Upon hearing this, the Courier can offer to kill them, and bring back parts of them as trophies. He says that if you do this, he can die a happy man and reward you for your skills. You then set off to kill the Legendary Nightstalker, the Legendary Cazador, the Legendary Fire Gecko, and finally, the Legendary Deathclaw. You will recieve quest makers to each in that order. You are to bring back the "corpses" of each (as a lootable item from each corpse and weighs the appropriate weight so the Deathclaw is going to be very heavy.) and bring them to his house in Goodsprings, where his son, Mark Jr. lives. When you bring the first one back, it will be discovered that his son is actually an inventor and scientist who has trained with crastsmen like the Gun Runners, and was the one who built his father's legendary sniper. He will tell you that his father had promised him to bring back the Legendary Beasts' corpses, so that he could dissect them. His father was going to keep their heads to mount on his wall, but he wanted to create other trophies from their body's. Here-in lies your reward. For bringing back the Legendary Nightstalker's corpse, you will receive the Legendary Nighstalker Hide Armor, which is a fairly decent, custom-textured leather armor suit that grants stealth upon sneaking. Basically an improved Chinese Stealth Armor. For bringing back the Legendary Cazador's corpse, Mark Jr. makes you a custom combat knife/bayonet with the Cazador's venom gland embedded in the hilt. It's a very strong melee weapon, with the added bonus of a permanent poison coating, equivalent to the Legendary Cazador's venom. Get cut by this baby, and it's lights out for good. For bringing back the Legendary Fire Gecko's corpse, Mark Jr. will run a few experiments on the Fire Gecko's firegland, and will then give you "Fire Gecko Coating" occasionally to place on a melee weapon, to temporarily give it the effects of the Shishkebab. Imagine putting this on the Legendary Cazador Knife! For bringing back the Legendary Deathclaw's Corpse, you receive the Legendary Deathclaw Gauntlet. Remember the Deathclaw Gauntlet from Fallout 3? Take that, and turn it up to eleven. This baby combines the punch of Pushy, combined with the DT-ignoring properties of the Deathclaw gauntlet. Wear this, and even the Legion will envy you. Perhaps someone could add a piece of the Deatchclaw alphas horns onto it to make it look even deadlier, or retexture it to match the Alphas color. Bring back all four, and Marksman Mark will give you a key, This key is to unlock his personal safe from the Tops, inside while be an incredible custom sniper rifle, ideas on the looks are things like skeletal pieces of deadly wasteland creatures, claw marks, etc. And The weapon is quite powerful, since it's supposed to be used by a player who has slain all the great Legends.
  3. I'd be willing to find voice clips of Mathew Perry for adding more dialog, and I could edit and merge clips to make him say things like commenting on the wasteland or talk about New Vegas. I'm actually surprised no one has done this as a mod yet, I can imagine a few places where you could convince him to join you, without having to work around the quests and vanilla scripts for him. Talk to him and let him down after he is crucified, however the Legion will not be happy about it. After he runs, you could have him spawn somewhere besides the Legion fort, and disable the Legion located Benny. Girls can Black Widow him into a trap or threat and he joins, and maybe a second check later on to decide if he betrays the player. (He'd say something then go hostile with the equipment he's wearing, which could be a horrible thing if you end up giving him awesome armor and weapons.) Evil males can skip the sleeping together and go striaght for the threats. Charismatic people can out smooth-talk him, fail and he calls hes bodguards and goes hostile. If your further along in the MQ you can threaten him with Mr. House honestly, or lie to him about it if House is dead
  4. Here is another download link for Speedys Resources in case you don't want to go through the resource list for it, You should all thank him for his hard work and his willingness to share it. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39551
  5. Awesome I have your resource on my list i believe, I'd love it if you posted a little bit about it since I usually on list resources and don't describe them as much as I'd like since I have so many. Heres the thread Modders Resources Here http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/2167/moddersresourcesandmode.jpg
  6. I actually think that sounds like a good idea, I'm not a modder but I'll give you my support in what ways I can help. Firstly, I'll organize the request so it looks better and so its easier to read, since people sometimes skip a thread if the see its just a clump of text. So I'm going to re-write it, without changing your idea, and then you can edit it into the original post so it looks organized and stuff. Here goes: "I thought it would be a great idea if the traveling merchants and guards had thier own base or settlement. Perhaps they could have cool features like A place to take daily jobs A Trade Commander that you could trade with and supply the traveling merchants like give them custom armors and weapons to use on themselves. You could set new routes for the merchants and travelers, maybe using the map or a scripted rangefinder gun or dialogue Hire new guards or travelers, or even quests to recruit new ones from different areas and settlements. Perhaps you can sign on as a guard or merchant and travel the routes as a small repeatable sidequest? I thought of this idea while heading to Novac after Nipton, I followed some traders and helped them as we came across Legion Assassins, Legion squads, Vipers, and Night stalkers then i thought that it could be a cool basis for a mod." I hope i didn't change too much. Anyways now that thats out of the way, Here are some of my ideas. Perhaps include the idea of prospectors, AWOL NCR troops, freed slaves, etc. in the settlement. Or the settlement could be in really bad shape or very small when you find it and you as the player can influence the town by caps, quests, and special stuff. Perhaps based on the players reputation the town can have different themes, like if you ally with the Legion then so does the town, so then the residients begin to wear Legion armors and fiend outfits, or you ally with the NCR and you see rangers and NCR armors, etc. I really like the idea of giving armors and things for the merchants to wear, I'd love to travel and suddenly see someone else in some strange custom armor, (Like Darth Vader just walking along with his brahmin! =P)
  7. I'm not sure about Book of Earache, but the other two are found in the huge mod work called nVamp so they should be find, in fact if your on a clean install then I'd have to suggest you try nVamp if you can.
  8. Thank you for going into such detail for me, I'm quite careful about avoiding anything that even looks ported, and again I only link to resources that seem safe beyond a shadow of doubt. I'll look forward to the update I'll be creating the following week. And I will warn my users that they should properly credit authors, and double-check that the content is safe for upload and use here at Nexus. Thank you all very much for taking the time to quell my concerns on the topic, Hopefully many modders will benifit from this next update and we will see more content in future mods of New Vegas and possibly Fallout 3.
  9. Special Thanks To Sputnik421 for messaging me this thread with some highly praised tutorials inside, The First is for MAX And the Second can likely be used in Blender. Low ploy Wire rope I've already edited the tutorials into the list but I felt that some may benifit from the original thread as well.
  10. Yes I'm pretty obsessive with making sure it safe and alright to use and share, I could've doubled my list if I wasn't so detailed about it. Not only that but any mistake I make is caught rather quickly due to having helpful readers willing to point out things I may have missed. Hopefully I'll find a lot that can be used however, since such resources are likely to never be used in any games after New Vegas since future Beth games will have a new engine and better graphics. I saw a Gallows resource that'd be perfect in New Vegas and its western theme. Thank you very much for reassuring me that this will not cause problems for modders or moderators as my only goal is to spread content and allow for more polished and easier made mods in the future.
  11. Maybe ghouls are spreading them, the pre-war ones, still addicted even after 200 years and having their lungs leak out of their chests.
  12. Cambragols vault is pretty amazing, I highly recommend it. Also I just wanted to let you know that in the upcoming week I'm going to add all the Oblivion resources that a allowed to be used in Fallout. (I posted a question in the rules forum and It seems acceptable.) So that will open up entirely new and interesting things you can add to your areas, Just today I found a gallows modders resource that even has an animated body swinging, I thought it be perfect in the western theme of New Vegas. Also about the NPC problems, You have to remember that most people LOVE your mod, and are more than willing to help you improve it. So If you ever really want to add in a few NPCs or a quest, I have no doubt that a capable fellow modder would be willing to get assistance.
  13. thank you I will check that, will that mean that it is useable for fallout?
  14. This seems like a correct thread to ask my question in, I've created a huge list of modders resources for the convience of modders, I've only ever included resources that are completely user-made (As far as I know based on the creators description) I belive I've found all the resources I can from Fallout 3 and New Vegas, So I wanted to ask, Can I include modder resources from Oblivion to use in the Fallout games?, if they use no actual content from Oblivion, by that I mean custom meshes and textures. It seems to avoid the use of copyrighted material , and i only include resources where the author clearly states that no permission is required or simply asks to be credited, so I also avoid people commiting unfair use of others work as long as they say who made what. So am I in the clear for adding in user-made content for Oblvion but that is seperate from the game itself?
  15. I don't understand, I'll need you to re-type this so I can know what your saying exactly.
  16. I'm planning to add a lot of resources this upcoming week. The resources will be completely custom content only, meaning that it will not rely on any of Beth's vanilla resources, which is to avoid the rules of inter-game content exchange. (I.E can't use Fallout 3 stuff in Fallout New Vegas unless it was already there.) I'm going to grab all the completely user made resources from Oblivion, or I'll include resources and specify what parts can be used for mods without getting banned by moderators here at Nexus. Such as if I find an armor resource, that has a custom mesh by vanilla textures I will specify that it'd require a completely new texture. Hope this will avoid confusion in the upcoming update.
  17. I don't think it'd be cigarettes then if it was indians, not likely tabbaco either if you catch my drift
  18. Here are some other unused things from Fallout. Perk photos http://tcrf.net/images/2/23/FO2-Virgin.png Virgin of the Wastes Unused reputation. "You really need to get out more. Your sexual exploits have been... well, two dimensional." http://tcrf.net/images/f/f1/FO2-Alcoholism.png Alcohol Addiction http://tcrf.net/images/thumb/2/2b/FO2-Childkiller.png/180px-FO2-Childkiller.png Childkiller This image was produced by the guy who drew all the Perk images, but was rejected because, maybe, just maybe, it might have crossed the line a little. The game uses the generic evil karma image instead. From Fallout 3 some quick things
  19. I support the idea as well, I'd love to see land-pirates and rastas. Perhaps thier is a mod from Oblivion with more varies male hairstyles like dreads. Heres a quick Jack Sparrow from Oblivion, he has a dreadbread, I'm sure there are more custom hairstyles and things similar to that. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/17483-1-1212355487.jpg
  20. Very cool, I'm glad to see that its not impossible, 99% of my ideas and methods are possible but I always thought this might've been the 1%. One of the mod ideas that inspired me was an art gallery mod in Fallout 3, I'll post a link so any modders can get what I'm trying to convey. An Art Gallery (Interesting Mod) -- Contact Author
  21. While reviewing this for another topic I thought that perhaps the camera could force a screenshot, then a script forces the SS to save as a texture. Now to make it work without leaving the game, It'd require that you carry the photo items, and the script saves the screenshot as the texture file for one of the photos, so say you have 2 photos already. You take the picture, Script saves it as "photo3texture" The new Texture will then, overwrites the blank texture file "photo3texture" with the texture of your screenshot. Then hoepfully when you drop the photo wherever, you'll see your screenshot on it. However this would limit the amount of photos you can take, but could be avoided by adding a line to the script that after like 20 photos it restarts, so the 21st photo texture will replace the 1st texture. Of course that could all be wrong and stupid sounding, however It's the only way I could think up that wouldn't require leaving the game or using a second program somehow.
  22. ---------------------------"Daddy, Where Do Cigarettes Come From?"--------------------------- A possible quest idea by Simplywayne90 based on this thread We are talking about the 1950's here, a time in America where people who didn't smoke were complete freaks. Likely there is no explanation for the many cigarettes found in Fallout in the lore. They're simply there because smoking is a large part of the culture that Fallout has parodied since Fallout 1. So perhaps someone should write about or make a place where perhaps some robots are still making cigarettes, or perhaps a caved-in hidden factory could be made into one of the many generic destroyed buildings of the Mojave. If it does become a mod then all sorts of new things might make it more interesting. Here are just some basic ideas that could be expanded on. New lighter look when using dynamite sticks. Cigars, Cigarettes, etc. with special properties (like with nuka-cola, and then you had nuka quantum.) Maybe collectable lighters like Snowglobes/Bobbleheads but from improtant people in the wastes (Benny, Papa Khan, Caesar, Pres., Remnants, Marcus, etc.) New Crafting recipes for tabacco based drugs/poisons. Funny Companion possibly (Robot Smokes a lot? or maybe a Tribal named He Who Smokes Everything.) Cigarette based weapons somehow? (Maybe just a gun with the brand name on it, could be a reward for collecting the lighters) New enemies (Possibly a mutant spore plant from tabacco, or Nicotine addicted Super mutants) New Cigarette Based Perks (Black Lungs, Fog Breather, etc.) etc. Those were just of the top of my head, I'm sure if someone really worked at it, that it could be a cool little mod. Edit: Here is a quick poster I made for this quest idea. http://i55.tinypic.com/35jxeuo.jpg

  25. Just for future readers I wanted to include a link to the How To Become A Modder Thread. Which goes over the basic problems in modding of all types (Textures, Scripts, Models, etc.) As well as what a person needs to get started as a modder. It may help anyone with certain difficulties. http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/6615/howtobecomeamodder.jpg
