  1. Tropical Skyrim A Complete Climate Overhaul TROPICAL SKYRIM HAS NOW BEEN RELEASED :biggrin: YOU CAN GET IT HERE [> What Is It? Tropical Skyrim is a mod which aims to completely convert the whole of skyrim into a tropical environment similar to valenwood/elsweyr and the Summerset isles. For those who have been asking, yes this will replace skyrims landscape rather than create any new lands. The reason i have chosen to take this approach is to save time. At the present, I don't have the time to create an entire new land filled with quests, npc's, monsters, items, dungeons, cities, etc. So by replacing assets already in the game i can focus purely on the environment and the "aesthetics" of the mod, rather than work on quests/npc's/towns as they are already there. I will also try to make the installation process as simple as possible so players can easily toggle this mod on and off. If you have any questions about this mod, feel free to PM me. Any comments you have would also be appreciated What Changes Have Been Made? Tundra: The tundra area has been converted into a desert with small amounts of vegitation. I have Also added sandstorms to this area. After much thought I decided to change them into a grassy environment with a few aspen trees which ended up looking like the area in Oblivion around Skingrad. I have changed the snow shader which puts snow on the top of objects into a grass shader, which puts grass on them, it seems alright, although seeing grass growing on a wooden crate may not be the most realistic thing Here's a comparison. http://i.imgur.com/jR6No.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3xo1H.jpg Aspen Forest: This area has been converted into a dense bamboo forest. However, many of the bushes in the reach have been converted to trees; and since there were quite a few bushes on the roof's of markarth, there are now many trees decorating the roofs . Personaly i think it looks much better than the vanilla textures as it seems to bring out a lot of the detail and it also gives the buildings more character. Here's a comparison.   2. I do believe there is a console command to change control over characters. To control a NPC, select them in the console and type TC to allow you to control them, however you inputs will still controll your character aswell. To fix this, simply "TC" your character to turn off controls for them. I have only used this command a few times and from my experience it was quite buggy, so im not sure if you can do everything you would normaly be able to do. (You can also "TC" animals and dragons :wink: )
  3. Well i remember sitting infront of my computer for hours, hitting the refresh button every 10 seconds and watching the views and comments come streaming in. But thats just my first mod on the nexus. My first official mod was uploaded when i was only 11 or 12, so i cant remember how i felt then :P
  4. The draw speed of bows is determined by a formula ( which I can't remember). But it is based on the weight of the bow. So you could either find the formula and change it. Or you could decrease the weight of all bows by a percentage. Good luck
  5. Sorry im also in the process of planing a large mod. so i wont be able to help. However, i have also been through the process of trying to recruit a team of modders, so heres some advice for you 1. start the mod by yourself and show some screenshots of what you have done, this will show that you are willing to put a lot of effort in and that you are dedicated. 2. instead of recruiting on the forums, ask people directly. For example if your looking for some one to model and texture weapons, then browse the nexus and find a popular mod that adds new good quality weapons to the game, then ask the author of the mod if they would be intrested in joining your team. This way you can be more specific with your recruiting. Good Luck :)
  6. I agree another thing that would be nice is more blood, its silly that ther is only about a 1 in 10 chance of a blood splatter appering, especialy when you cut someones head off

Weapon Values - Sharpness-----Used to calculate armor penetration, blood-loss, chance of dismemberment, damage to muscle. - Pierce Chance-----Used to calculate chance of piercing. (internal damage to organs) - Impact Damage-----Used to calculate damage to bones and use of limbs. - Tearing Damage-----Used to calculate wound healing speed - Weapon Durability-----Used to calculate chance of weapon breaking - Flexibility-----Used to calculate wether the weapon will bend or snap. - Weight-----Used to calculate how effective the weapon can be wielded, force of attacks, speed of swing - Weight Distribution-----Higher = more force into swing and slower swing. Lower = less force into swing and faster swing - Length-----Used to calculate reach of weapon, speed of swing, how effective the weapon can be wielded - Value-----Price of weapon *** DAMAGE FROM WEAPON IS DEPENDANT OF HIT LOCATION** So as you can see I am planing to make the combat much more realistic and strategic.
  9. Im currently planning a total conversion of the game, im still in the concept/planning stage. And one of my ideas is to overhaul the weapon system. Currently weapons only have variables such as damage, value, weight, etc. and i was wondering if it would be possible to assign additional variables to weapons such as Sharpness, Weight Distribution, Pierce Damage, etc. And I am aware that the creation kit has not yet been released, so for the moment lets assume that it is the same as oblivion.

  13. I think it would be good if when we upgrade armor, the model stays the same, but the texture changes.
  14. Just think of it this way, Bethesda could waste their time implementing a family system into the game. Or, they could use that time to add new combat features, adding spells or fixing bugs.

  20. I'm guessing 2gb will probably be enough for high settings. I'd be surprised if 2GB were the minimum to run the game. High settings will probably need 4-6. If they do a good job of optimizing Skyrim for the PC then we will only need about 2-4gb of RAM. To be honest the system requirements shouldn't be to much more than oblivion. Oblivion was very poorly optimized and they recommend only 1gb of RAM. Skyrim will hopefully be optimized a lot better, so don't expect the requirements to be to high.
