  1. Personally I don't think it's fair to say that FO3 is lame just because it's not exactly like Oblivion. I think the appropriate term would be "different". Oblivion and Fallout are two totally different stories set in two totally different realities. To compare the two is like trying to compare Escape From New York to Conan The Barbarian. Obviously, they are two different types of stories. But if we're determined to compare... You mentioned that the damage you take from gunfire is unrealistic. Well, it's a game, after all. Dying every time you take a single bullet would make the game so difficult that far fewer gamers would want to play it. I can't think of many video games where your character gets killed by getting hit just once. Furthermore, Oblivion does exactly the same thing. I can get hit by a giant bastard sword 14 times and still win the battle, then cast a healing spell on myself and merrily skip down the hillside. This is realistic? Of course the subject matter is depressing and downcast. Kinda hard to make the world being all but destroyed by a nuclear holocaust into a happy fairy tale. Oblivion isn't really all that cheerful. Hordes of demons from a fiery realm bent on destroying or enslaving us all isn't a cheerful fantasy tale in my opinion. 200 years? Once again I point out that it's a game and as such was intended to be entertaining, not to win the Nobel Literature Prize. The fact that everything resembles the remnants of the United States in the 1940s-1960s and yet we know in reality our world was not gutted by a nuclear holocaust in that era is an obvious indication that the story takes place in an alternate timeline and reality. Obviously it's not going to be historically accurate and we shouldn't expect it to be. I will agree with you on a few things, however... V.A.T.S. is indeed a turn-based sort of thing that I could have lived without. Turn-based combat is one of the reasons why I finally became disenchanted with the Final Fantasy franchise. And the gore is indeed a bit over-the-top, even for a military combat game. They could still have included some blood without trying to be so anatomically correct. Anyway, these are just my opinions.
  2. If you've made something like the Tabaxi race, for example, into a master file that your companion .esp file is dependent upon, if that Tabaxi .esm is not present when you try to play the game it will crash at start-up. A way to avoid that would be to in the beginning merge the assets you wanted to use directly into your plug-in. If you try to do that now, however, you're likely to end up with duplicate editor IDs for everything you've used and, depending upon how you go about it, the Construction Set might give you a slew of warnings or even crash too. If you're really interested in changing that though, I strongly recommend that you make use of the TES4Gecko utility.
  3. Why do people feel the need to bang on about this ? If graphics aren't important to you then thats great for you, but not everybody thinks the same way and some folks like good graphics and hey, why not ? Everybody is different and all have their own preferences. Personally I like good graphics, but if a game draws me in and is enjoyable to me then having good graphics is the icing on the cake. We just like to vent about it here I guess. I'm guilty of cluttering up the boards with my moaning too... ...when really what I should say is that I hope the graphics quality is adjustable. Then everyone can be happy one way or the other. And I expect it will indeed be adjustable; Bethsoft has been very good about giving us those options so a wider range of players from a wider economic base can still enjoy their games. I suppose I really shouldn't complain.
  4. ^ Her favorite color must be green. (Thanks, BTW.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/tongue.gif)
  5. I don't mean to sound like a smart-arse, but it sounds like you've already got a good start on knowing what you want. I may be a bit biased, but I'd recommend some companions. I've made a few myself, but there are also a lot of other good ones to choose from. Since you have a good rig I'd also recommend this. Also on my own list of must-haves are MMM and since you have the DLCs maybe something to further increase the level cap. (Sorry, I can't seem to find them quickly at the moment to provide links.)
  6. ^ Has an artistic streak that one would not expect from a member of the mafia.
  7. UPDATE: After playing a game similar to musical chairs with UPS and FedEx I finally received the replacement hard drive today. Immediately upon start-up it was recognized by the OS and the drivers were automatically installed. Thanks again to everyone who posted advice.
  8. If you want to create CM Partners companions that use a custom race you will need to either a.) convert the custom race into a master file or b.) copy the race data into the plugin file that will contain your companion. Feel free to look at some of my work for examples.
  9. Might be easier to make Daggerfall into Morrowind. A heck of a lot of work either way I'd imagine. But then, there are things like Nehrim, Silgrad Tower, SoVvM and others, so somebody out there has enough free time to do it apparently.
  10. What she said. Even KotN is basically a plugin. There's an old patch that comes on that disc I mentioned and since you already have Shivering Isles installed that patch probably is useless, but otherwise everything should work for you.
  11. The DLCs and KotN were released (at least in the U.S.) together on a retail disc back before Shivering Isles was first released, which was how I originally came to own them. The disc was titled "Knights of the Nine Oblivion Downloadable Content Collection". Even though it doesn't mention the names of the others in the title it does in fact contain Horse Armor, Spell Tomes, etc. Perhaps checking e-bay and such for this title might help.
  12. An excellent article by Bben46 can be found here.
  13. The more populated my desktop becomes the less visible my wallpaper becomes, so I decided today to keep it simple.
  14. The contents of the extracted Data folder go into your Oblivion/Data folder. Putting tha Data folder into the Data folder will still not work. edit: Was typing while Striker was posting.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/tongue.gif
  15. By the time I'm finished playing Nehrim I'll likely have learned a good bit of German.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/tongue.gif
  16. I had the same problem. It seems the overhaul does not include everything it requires to run. I really wanted to try it but unfortunately it just became too frustrating to try to get it to work and I gave up on it.
  17. Nevermind...http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/tongue.gif
  18. How might one enable fast travel in Nehrim? I've tried this mod and this mod but neither seem to work.
  19. Can you be more specific as to what issues? The item is currently in a UPS truck heading back to the vendor to be replaced with an identical item. If I still have problems with the new one any helpful info will be appreciated.
