  1. There's also the lesser known Extensible Follower Framework mod. I recommend AFT, as it's always treated me well and has a ton of customization, especially with its latest update. However, the most popular has always been UFO and has better compatibility with Convenient Horses. AFT and UFO each use dialogue for setting changes, while EFF pulls up a menu box. None have implemented MCM support yet. Each have their own separate issues and eccentricities to suffer, so go with the one you like best and that matches your play style.
  2. *Grins* Well, you did make one little error in your whole plan here. ... You joined the STORMCLOAKS, MAAAAAANNNNNNNNN!!!!!
  3. I'm thinking the same thing. One of your mods is definitely conflicting with the new patch.
  4. If you have any killmove mods, I recommend reinstalling them and checking if that helps resolve the issue. If that doesn't, try verifying your game cache to see if a repair can be made. And if THAT doesn't work, you might have to reinstall Skyrim, as it's likely one of your killmove codes is broken somehow. But perhaps there's another fix out there, so keep looking.
  5. That... doesn't sound like something any of us can solve. That sounds like a problem with Windows 8, not the game itself.
  6. You did check that your quest markers aren't deactivated in the main menu, right? It's in the gameplay section.
  7. I wish I could be of help Auriana, but I don't know the quest codes for Morthal, either. I know I had a similar issue with Falkreath Hold where the Jarl disliked me for some reason. I had to reset his reputation towards me and reload. Perhaps that's related? I've heard that buying the houses after the Civil War can really throw things through the wall.
  8. It's definitely possible, seeing as how Immersive Armors added an "Auxiliary Armors" section in the latest version.
  9. You should try to get in touch with the creators of the "Project Nevada" mod from Fallout: New Vegas and see if they work on Skyrim mods now. They did something very similar in FO:NV.
  10. I believe one of the Realistic Needs mods involves "burning" the salt out of seawater for foods. But that seems like a pretty arduous process compared to literally mining for salt.
  11. Recommend Heart of the Beast as a source of texture references. That mod's author made a series of great werewolf eyes that glow at night.
  12. Kind of hard to tell without photos. :(
  13. I've only missed a couple pages and this thread is pressing the brink of getting off topic. Comparing the Skyrim Civil War to American history is a valid comparison, but let's not allow such comparisons to bring up American politics as the main topic. Keep focused on the topic at hand or make a new thread. It's that simple. I like how everyone here's stated their beliefs on how the war's gone, but I think it's gotten to a point of modus vivendi, so if the thread's reached its peak, let it end nobly instead of with assholes getting banned and everyone else in a fluster.
  14. I'm sure the moderators are on top of it. I saw a mod which was posted a few days ago which looked really sketchy. The admins had it pulled and the user banned within the hour. Just report through the usual channels and they'll handle it.
  15. Just delete the files that SKSE had you copy/paste into the Skyrim folder. There's nothing extracted or added into the coding.
  16. This also sounds like the problem could be related to a bloated save file. I had similar issues - and a bad stutter which causes consistent crashes - when my safe file bloated to 40+ KBs. Just something to consider. If it IS orphaned script, you might be able to use some of those mod applications which "clean" your save file of such script, but be forewarned: a lot of people suspect those applications can damage your save file irreversibly. If you have back-up save files, I recommend falling back to whenever your issue didn't occur. And if you didn't make back-up saves, well... wish I could be more help.
  17. To be honest, this revelation isn't too surprising, though it's a good catch. It's been implied throughout the series that the gods we know as the Aedra and the Daedra, the Void (Sithis) and Lorkhan are simply new names and faces given to the same figureheads of god-like power over the aeons. It's only natural to assume that those same gods would influence the Akaviri continent, particularly Akatosh, what with him being essentially the Zeus of our Aedric pantheon. One clever addition to the companion mod Cerwiden highlights this fact considerably - in a passing comment of dialogue as you traverse Skyrim, Cerwiden - a foreigner from a non-canon land of Nirn - speculates that the Daedric Princes of Tamriel seem strikingly similar to her "Lords of Chaos." Therefore, it's only natural to assume that Tamriel's not unique in the eyes of the gods, but one land in a group of many which they manipulate.
  18. From my experience, having more than one SKSE running can cause loading issues, as you're esesntially running SKSE twice instead of once. It's always best to delete the old one.
  19. This will get especially popular if Cumberbatch's portrayal of "Harrison" (*Ahem* KHAN *Cough*) in Star Trek: Into Darkness is well received.
  20. Val's Crafting Meltdown Needs to be better maintained and updated, but it's pretty much spot-on what you're requesting.
  21. Salt? Rare? Are you serious? How much stuff do you cook? Gotta agree, salt's a mineral, Skyrim's filled with big ass mountains chock full of minerals, it's got a big ass arctic ocean to the north full of sea water and ice, therefore there's gotta be a BUTTLOAD of salt. But your idea's pretty good, I like it. Should be pretty simple - just change the color of an ore vein to a white color, change the color of the ore to look like salt, refine and BAM. Could have one dedicated mine or added to the random vein generator.
  22. Supposedly Dawnguard added Werewolves in as a random world encounter. Perhaps you had a glitched spawn?
  23. Oh, that's simple: Elder Scrolls X: AKAVIR. Seriously, how many of us have wanted the clash with the other continent since we first learned about it in the lore? Vampiric serpent-men? A tiger race led by a tiger-dragon? A race of men inspired/influenced by Japanese culture? A long history of conflict with our present continent? Sounds plenty awesome to me! And I think you're being rather simplistic about the epic size of The Elder Scrolls. There are SEVENTEEN Daedric Princes. That's just the Daedra. There are other, older gods, which are threats, and there's STILL the suggestion of other realms of existence beyond our present understanding. This game has plenty of opportunities, and the Thalmor are just the latest presented threat. But that doesn't mean we should toss them out - oh no, it's time to milk this Men versus Mer fight that we've wanted since the very beginning! Let's GET IT ON.
  24. I don't think it's fair to say that the outcome of the Civil War will be "pointless." After all, the events of The Elder Scrolls never link together, so in some regard they're always "pointless." However, their importance is instead on how it affects the lore. The Nerevarine had no influence over the events of the Oblivion Crisis, though his quest did lead to the fall of the Tribunal Temple, the death of two demi-gods and the departure of the third, and the inevitable chaos of Dunmeri politics without a religious foundation. The Hero of Kvatch had no influence over the events of the Alduin Crisis, but he did partake in the rise of the Potentate Ocato succeeding Emperors Uriel and Martin Septim which opened the door for the Altmeri schism we now see between the Thalmor Fascists and the Imperial loyalists (after all, not all Altmer are loyal to the Dominion - I've seen some serving in the Legions during Skyrim). Therefore, the actions of the Dragonborn and their actions in Skyrim will not directly influence the events of The Elder Scrolls VI, but it will establish the lore of a war-torn province which drained the Legion of valuable troops and bodies for what could very well be another Great War just a few decades down the line. Because the truth is that the war did not end because the Empire fought the Thalmor back, they merely fought them to a truce. For all we know the Thalmor calculated that continued losses in the war would spread their resources and bodies too thin to govern and placate the occupied provinces beyond, and beyond Elves with the gift of prolonged life, they opted for patience. They knew that allowing the Empire to live was a death sentence, and beyond clever, they began a campaign to drag down the Empire's remaining provinces. Hammerfell's gone, High Rock is likely impotent, Cyrodiil ravaged economically, Skyrim now torn by a terrible civil war. Even if the Empire won that Civil War, they have to occupy and maintain Skyrim for the next few decades, drawing significant troops from the front lines. Further, there's no reason why the Aldmeri Dominion cannot ally themselves with the Argonians - if they're willing to take the Khajiit as second-class citizens by beguiling their superstitious with wild claims and threatening their clever with force of arms, what's stopping them from pursing such relations with the new Argonian leadership? The Argonians are clearly aggressive now, capable assassins and saboteurs, and their entry or at least allegiance would be valuable. It's likely that their province will be the next to fall or splinter away. All that'll leave is Cyrodiil, High Rock, and possibly Skyrim (and Hammerfell, presuming they're not conquered in the preliminary invasions), and each is damaged in some way. Perhaps it'll take the war twenty years to restart - perhaps forty - what matters is that the Aldmeri have that time, the rulers of Men do not. They're already fragmented, suspicious of one another, incapable of unifying without a capable leader. And if the Thalmor wait out Titus Mede the Second - whether he was assassinated or not - they'll likely have no other opposition to face, and it'l be a matter of sabotage. And the Aldmeri Dominion is more than capable - masters of magic, stealth, and assassination, they are the ultimate threat both during and after a Cold War. And I suspect that there won't be another Great War. The Aldmeri will have learned their lesson. They'll wait until the Empire follows the way of Rome and collapse upon itself, and all they'll need to do is march in, eliminate the remnants, and save the populace from anarchy and chaos. We might even find that the Aldmeri Dominion is "heralded" as the saviors of Tamriel from the chaos of Men - or the propaganda will tell us so. Perhaps in The Elder Scrolls VI the tables will turn: Men shall be despised and discriminated, and the Beast Races shall be honored (but looked down upon) by the Elves. That's my suspicions. I just hope that it'll all be saved for Elder Scrolls VI - the Thalmor are too epic to be concluded so soon. Let's keep the next DLC (and any to follow, if we're lucky) on the adventures of the Dragonborn.
