I haven't read a game manual from start to finish in years. In fact the only time I do "browse" through one is when I am about to take a dump and looking for something to pass the time as I unload, but the manual literally has to be sitting in front of my eyes on the way to the toilet, lol

Having long been a fanboy of Oblivion, Morrowind series I hated the UI as well. Now after playing the game for a day or two and getting accustomed to the new inventory and map (I am running on PC) Am loving the new UI now! Things are so easy to sort out now instead of the jumbled mess of previous series.

Crafting armor and weapons has killed the game for me!!
soot00 replied to danny13d's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
So uhhh... Don't craft or use crafted gear, problem solved. Threads like this crack me up! -
At higher up Necromancers should have a perma pet

Wait you are not playing Skyrim due to Steam? That's it? Steam??? Really you want to miss out due ... S-T-E-A-M?? That's your single reason, S-S-T-T-E-E-A-A-M-M ??? Oh well your loss ;)

Due to the limitless free form jack of all trades skillset one can mold on their Skyrim Character, I usually like to focus on a class from an online or RPG and adapt it to Skyrim. For example my idea of a Paladin class based on Neverwinter Nights or even WOW would be semi limited to the restoration spell tree. For those that played EQ 1 or 2 back in the day and remember the Shadowknight class, what skillsets would you incorporate into Skyrim? Just getting some ideas to see how viable it would be make a Skyrim toon.....

All I know is the world is frikkin huge. Some of the random encounters are amazing.....

Shield + Sword only viable option on master?
soot00 replied to Deleted3103979User's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Thus far I have tried 3 toons. Mage, Thief and Warrior. Mage and Thief you will find yourself on occasion to kite or run away to lose Line of Sight so combat can get risky or battles prolonged since you have to run off to recoup on occasion. I just started a Tank, shield and board class. Let me tell you, this is the easiest combination if one wants to level fast. Battles are far less risky, especially if you get overrun. -
No penalties. It's the individual players choice on how difficult they want the game to be. In other words don't tell this board how much a bad arse you are playing in master difficulty when you wearing full plate casting destruction spells, lol. My 2nd toon is going pure mage. He will be wearing nothing higher than robes / clothing. No lockpicking, weapons, or shields Straight spellcaster using mage staffs only.

Skyrim Spell casters is definitely lots more fun. Dual casting (Having two spells ready at your disposal) alongside spell hotkey makes changing spells a breeze in a realtime battle. Was hard to manage in Oblivion as I found myself pausing the game lots to switch mid battle. Skyrim is more fluid...

Just curious does anybody actually fast travel
soot00 replied to PsYchotic666Joker's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Depends on the time. as an example, Real life beckons but I want to complete one last quest so yes in this case I will fast travel. As other posters mentioned you are gonna miss out on a lot of random events or locales if you do. I came across a skeletal corpse atop the alps during my foot travel, inside the chest next to him I found a Treasure map and an awesome magic dagger (perfect for my rogue class). If I had fast travelled, no way would I have found it. -
PC all the way. Last year I bought a PS3 160 gig system. After the inital 2-3 weeks of "cool" moment I barely touched the console and it was collecting dust for a good long while. Recently sold mine on craigslist and don't miss it one bit.

Finishing moves, the first big flaw of Skyrim (?)
soot00 replied to Aventinus's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
My duel wielding dagger rogue looks awesome with his finishing moves.. -
Huh? What resolution you playing Skyrim on? 640x480?? The new engine looks absolutely fantastic on my 1680x1050 monitor. Huge difference from Oblivion. This new engine has been real stable for me thus far. Already have easily close to 20+ hours of gaming and had just one random CTD.

Some of the responses in this thread crack me up. Especially the ones that say I am on Master difficulty and find it easy! Of course these gamers have their toons wearing Full Heavy armor and casting Destruction spells! Of course it's gonna be easy outfitting your character this way. Most RPG's share some sense of balance amongst heavy armor and spell casting. Since Skyrim is free form with no limitations its up to the individual player to set restrictions. Personally I love a challenge so will be playing my Rogue character which will wear nothing heavier than Light armor, only daggers and bow as weapons, no magic whatsoever aside from alchemy to make poisons. Going to be interesting in the latter levels how this toon fares but it's been real fun so far. Love the melee style this go round with Skyrim as opposed to the clunky melee interface from previous releases of the Elder series.

Loving it. Took me a few hours to get accustomed to the console to pc controls but once you get the hang of it, works great. Inventory system in terms of finding stuff is 100x better than oblivion
-
I always played magic classes in previous Elder scroll series, not because i wanted too, but mainly due to the clunky melee interface. Thief based classes wanting to duel wield was out of the question due to the engine. It was also hard to target via 3rd person behind the back camera in combat. Skyrim it's done a lot better. I have a duel wield dagger Thief class presently level 3, he is looking real good thus far. Plan on playing this toon all the way through. He will be mainly Light armor, Daggers, Alchemy....

Game/Player Interface is disapointing and frustrating
soot00 replied to zappa45's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Yah it is a bit clunky and took me a few to get used too. I do like the new inventory management system, far qucker to see or find what you are looking for. -
Yes, and get the mod, "Fallout Wanderers Edition" One of the greatest mods ever for Fallout 3. You really don't have to download any other mod but this. Totally changes the vanilla game for the better.
-
Post nuclear land mass just appeals to me. Great storyline with Fallout 3 as it's focused on the single item that's necessary for survival...clean water. Fallout 3 is probably the greatest PC game I have ever played.....
-
It's more obvious which side the developers spent their time on. If you choose NCR you will get close to 30 more extra quests....
-
Mods? I have not noticed any flame war over mods. It is ones choice to download Mods and suit the game to their style.....
