WELCOME Blindjudge ! I have responded to Dark0ne's survey but I share Brigand231's concerns about relying on the metrics too much. As a species we are very adaptable and those of us who come here often (breaks into song) "grown accustomed to her face" (Sorry , got a bit carried away). My point is, I am NOT unhappy with the site, it is one of my favs. However, I am sure that there are behind-the-scenes changes which will make the site more efficient but I (like many other users) lack the training and expertise to know what is possible and feasible (economically). I would love to join in a protracted conversation on the possibilities but don't think your timeline projection would allow for that. If you are designing for the current users then any significant front end change will create a "hassle factor" of unlearning the old and learning the new. If you are trying to attract new users by all mean keep it as simple as possible. This is entertainment so the easier for the end user the better (said the old guy that loaded 160+ mods to an already great game). Good Luck Mon Capitan and as my favorite Captain says "Engage!"

I thought of an idea!...

...after filling out the survey.

So I'll put it here.

Say I wanted to search for a saber

I would have to sift between weapon packs and hi-resolution retextures of the Saber Cat

OR

When I search, my search results has all the mods in bundles by category. In this case I would have three categories; Weapons, Animals and Creatures, and Models and Textures.

This way, I can click the Weapons category, and get all Saber searches in the Weapons category.

This may add another step to the mod searching process, but it, to me, would make things more streamlined than having to sort through swords and cats to find what I want

Also, I feel this would especially work when you consider just how massive our database is

Thanks for wanting to improve the site =D It definitely needs a facelift. Please keep functionality at the top and don't remake it into an IOS 7 situation;) Thanks in advance.

I took Your survey I did alot of thinking and I hope you liked my response. My Biggest Suggestions Were Checkout layouts of Reality websites as they are common for the ideas of searching for stuff. Tags, Certifications Are a Big Deal for many sites that have mods. Top, Good Gems will be easier to find as well as Exactly what people are looking for.. Ie Sound mods for certain things or (name) city overhauls Ect. Just a Refined More streamlined Site, Layout would help out aswell. Make it so we dont have to click page by page and can have a infinite scroll would also be a blessing.

I also Hope we can figure out how to keep The tabs section on mods Maybe on the leftside instead of just the top.

but its very buggy, videos constantly Break and clicking back and forth causes issues, Pages Crash. This needs to be reworked!!!!

Finally I hope more tabs could be added or Sections to mods. For ex. I hope to see ,Help Section, Updates, Compatibility Tab. Ect not just all this s#*! shoved in a fourm. The bug Tab should be mandatory as well

ps. Welcome to Nexus =D hope good things will come !!

I tried to complete the survey and came to the last question which said "optional". I care nothing for a chance to win some Steam game card, but cannot complete the survey without entering my Steam email address.

--Facepalm--duh. Never mind. It was another question I had not answered which prevented completion.

Please don't make it look like that garbage OS Windows 8/8.1 either.

If you don't mind a personal question, do you do anything else professionally? Mainly what I'm asking is is this your only "job" or do you wear other hats elsewhere?

Also, I hope that when you're looking at all your metrics and seeing what people do, it's with the idea that we do what we do, perhaps, because it is the only road open to us. 100% of users might do something consistently, but it might be because there is no alternative or the way things have developed have sort of corralled us into doing things that way.

For example, if you examine how people access forums or threads now and make decisions based upon it, it might be horrendously inaccurate as the recent change to the forums structure has left many of us struggling to keep afloat, let alone get back to any semblance of where we used to be.

Thanks for being here and committing to making this place the best it can be!
NeoNord wrote: Brigand231, EXCELLENT POINT! I have little expertise in site design but I have seen enough to know that the design dictates what people do and how they do it. People are very adaptable and computers are not yet very adaptable. I personally don't think a lot needs to be done but primarily because I have been here long enough to figure a lot of it out by trial and error. So first question should be for whom are you making it better. The answer to that question is important. If it is for current users then you have taken the correct first step in polling them to find out except for Brigand' caveat. Once we have adapted to a particular system changing the system (even if it is for the better) introduces a "hassle factor" . I think a tutorial on how to best use all the site has to offer would have been appreciated when I first joined. Significant changes should be accompanied by a tutorial that says "you used to do it this way, now you do it this way" and " this is something you couldn't do before now you do it like this".

It's almost ironic that you mention that. When most folks were not familiar with embedded images I wrote up some tutorials on embedding using flickr and MediaFire as hosts; sure enough, flickr would go on to introduce updates that prompted me to create an updated tutorial as things were moved to different places.

I'll try and respond to any questions that have been posted tomorrow as it's quite early here and I now need to get some sleep.

To let you all know, we've had a great uptake in the survey with over 6500+ responses and they're still coming in thick and fast. Robin sent a video of my iPad earlier and the pings were like morse code. So I now have my work cut out to collate the information while reading through each and every comment.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has put the time and effort into completing it, it's truly appreciated.

I just want to know what a Steam Email address is. Sounds like sorcery to me.. By the way welcome aboard. Edited by VATROU
