  1. Comment for an entry, thanks for the opportunity!
  2. Here's a comment for the entry, thanks for the opportunity!
  3. Horribly belated as I'm giving myself a vacation from modding, but feel compelled to offer congratulations. I've seen you keep your head and composure in the face of drama in the MA forums. The Nexus is well-represented with you acting as an ambassador to the rest of the gaming world.
  4. Yes. When two mods edit the same entry, whichever plugin loads later takes precedence and asserts its version of the entry over all others.
  5. 1 - the latter, hard edits are hard edits. Two mods making hard edits to the same formlist will conflict. 2 - It's just like populating any list, right click on the entry and choose "Add" to add another slot to the field, then right click and "Edit" on your new blank entry to paste/input an entry or click it and hit F2 to get the dropdown.
  6. HAven't done anything with Skyrim aside from booting it up once and exiting, but am willing to voice act as many characters/voices as you want and my wife is usually willing to as well.
  7. In response to post #41268975. #41270010 is also a reply to the same post. I do remember how and why it happened. Thanks for leaving me with hope that perhaps sometime down the road if might be looked in to.
  8. I'm anxious to find out if games will get their separate, specific image and file forums back so that we can keep current with comments for specific games.
  9. Looks rather nice. I'm willing to give it a chance when it rolls out. Thanks, Paul!
  10. In response to post #41053635. Thanks for the prompt action on this. If anybody has any doubt, I'll vouch that I've seen a couple compromised mods altered. Kudos to staff for getting it sorted quickly and the damage mitigated as much as possible.
  11. Thanks for the head's up, chief.
  12. Your easiest (and likely best) bet is to import your model into Outfit Studio and copy the bone weights from a reference object and then hand paint from there. We used to just use the copy bone weight scripts in Blender for F3/NV, but that's not an option for F4.
  13. In response to post #39464605. #39464780 is also a reply to the same post. If you read the article posted about that transfer, Nexus staff worked with Gamefront to make it happen. Did you bother to ask if, perhaps just maybe, there was a transfer of lease or permissions or rights during the process?
  14. Thank you for all that you do, Dark0ne and staff. Thank you for being a sane and rational voice in this very charged atmosphere. Thank you for continuing to suggest the glass is at least half full.
  15. Another demonstration that the Nexus has heart and actually cares about modding, not just any potential gain.
  16. Makes sense to me. I guess what I was suggesting or requesting was that if/when it is implemented that it is made evident that there are other options besides copying someone else's answers. To paraphrase from The Matrix, offer a choice between a red and blue pill. While I certainly do not think of most users as sheep or lemmings, I do think that there are a lot of potential modders out there that would find their wings and thrive if shoved out of the nest as we're led to believe birds do to teach their young to fly. Of course that idea is of no help to those who do not have the time or mindset or ability to take advantage of tools and opportunities, but simply handing out answers without context or understanding and no encouragement to learn is not necessarily doing anybody any favors either. It simply quiets them until they need help again. I'm not against automated systems or introducing more tools to streamline operations. If I am forced to be "against" anything, it is requests for things to be changed or customized for individual consumption due to someone not giving enough F's to learn how to do it themself because their time is too valuable and, instead, expecting modders to spend their time to make it for them. That is the situation I wish to prevent and correct. Does that make any more sense?
  17. Wow, I've never seen my thoughts and words taken so far out of context. I appreciate what you say, csbx, in that there are some things that are beyond folks that they need to employ the services of others. I have not contested that. I simply suggested that it seemed easier to me to teach someone to use modding tools in order to address their own issues. It might be more work initially, but would require less of a time investment in the long run over several mods. In my opinion, this would be a greater net benefit to the user and to the modding community. These users could also educate others in a ripple or domino illustration. Ultimately, it is my belief that this would produce more modders. I believe this because this is how I learned to mod. I was enjoying a mod, but I wanted to see a different value used for something. I asked the mod author to make the change, and instead they taught me to edit values myself. Had they simply spoonfed me a custom version, I would have stopped there. Instead, I tweaked other values for different results to make variations on that mod and began to apply the knowledge to other mods that I used. The more I did it, the more I saw how things worked together. It was not a huge stretch to see how graphic assets like textures and models worked similarly, and they could be edited or swapped for others. I got help learning texture and model editing tools and played with those to play with and share. It was so exciting to be able to do these things and tell others how to do them. From that came text and video tutorials. I'm not going to claim that anything I've made or contributed has had a huge impact anywhere, but I can say with certainty that all it took was one modder to say "If this is what you want, this is how to make it happen" instead of "Ok, here you go" to make a positive impact on the modding community. My suggestion was simply that this be applied to helping mod users with load orders instead of just handing out answers. Most automobile drivers will never directly encounter a carburetor or need to know what one is and it's easy enough to get water from a faucet by turning it on. What we are discussing is modifications of already working systems. If an automobile driver wants their car modified, they absolutely will need to learn or beg/pay someone to do work on their behalf. If someone wants different sink hardware or a new kitchen counter, again they are modding en existing, working system and should absolutely seek help before doing so. Once you modify something beyond its original intended use you absolutely better know what you're doing and accept the consequences of your actions. It's not rocket science, it's modding. Should people who don't know how to tune an engine be able to drive a car? Sure. You're mixing apples and oranges. I am suggesting that simply because someone does not know how to use something they are incapable of learning to use it if challenged to try it. Edit: accidental double negative and omitted word corrected.
  18. Would it not be ultimately more effective to advocate and encourage the aforementioned silent masses to learn and use tools like Xedit so they can personally maintain their own load orders? That would result in a stronger and self-enabled modding community. Instead of making tools for the "drooling masses", why not focus on educating them instead of enabling them? The whole reason (granted, this is my opinion based on observation) we get load orders based on guides is because it is too easy for a mod user to cry for help and get a response from someone who feeds on endorsements, reputation, upvotes, whatever instead of being taught how to fix it themself. I'm all for users being made aware of all the possibilities at their disposal, but I believe that must also come with the education of how to best take advantage of these tools and possibilities. Otherwise, we're simply tossing out good pearls after bad before swine. Let's get them out of the mud before we make the pens bigger and deeper.
  19. Pretty much "anyone" can. There are many methods available. Someguy2000 is not a common online name, a quick peek around the Internet (cyberstalking) or simply looking at information he has specifically shared on the Nexus will reveal other avenues of contacting him via methods other than Nexus PM.
  20. In response to post #27213569. #27222979, #27228419, #27233599 are all replies on the same post. Thanks for taking the time to respond to everyone; you've already put forward a confident face and the personal touch on top of it is almost unheard of in forums these days. I'll definitely drop you a line if anything specific comes to mind that hasn't already been mentioned.
  21. Errr, the way the Nexus is setup friend request accepts are automatic by default. I would bet real money that he's not even corresponded with at least half the people that have claimed him as a friend.
  22. In response to post #27213569. #27222979 is also a reply to the same post. It's almost ironic that you mention that. When most folks were not familiar with embedded images I wrote up some tutorials on embedding using flickr and MediaFire as hosts; sure enough, flickr would go on to introduce updates that prompted me to create an updated tutorial as things were moved to different places.
  23. Welcome Paul, it's exciting to have fresh blood at the helm. If you don't mind a personal question, do you do anything else professionally? Mainly what I'm asking is is this your only "job" or do you wear other hats elsewhere? Also, I hope that when you're looking at all your metrics and seeing what people do, it's with the idea that we do what we do, perhaps, because it is the only road open to us. 100% of users might do something consistently, but it might be because there is no alternative or the way things have developed have sort of corralled us into doing things that way. For example, if you examine how people access forums or threads now and make decisions based upon it, it might be horrendously inaccurate as the recent change to the forums structure has left many of us struggling to keep afloat, let alone get back to any semblance of where we used to be. Thanks for being here and committing to making this place the best it can be!
  24. Ah, was wondering why stuff was going so slow today. We'll weather the storm as usual.
