  1. I think his timing could have been better, the current world climate and lack of enough seats for a large majority has made him seem a tad ineffectual, but on the whole I like the guy. Not as entertaining as Boris Johnson though
  2. Hello there. I been thinking for a while about trimming my Image Share bloat. I have a lot of images up that nobody in their right mind would want to look at anymore, for example I noticed that my New Vegas uploads now total over 35 pages. Thirty Five. Wow, that's a ton of rubbish to clear. And that's just NV. I don't want to spend the rest of my waking life deleting each individual image and have been searching for a way to delete more than one at a time, like in an Explorer viewpane, by highlighting several with the mouse. I suppose I could make a request to an admin to delete all images from date A to date B, but there are one or two I'd like to keep. To go though all my images and make a note of their names, then request their saving would just be a waste of everyone's time. So to sum up, is it possible for me to do, or could such a thing be implemented? Thanks for your time.

  4. Southern Comfort? A decent brandy?
  5. Finally got around to watching The Dark Knight Rises. Enjoyed most of it. The internet rumors about whatsitsface becoming the new Batman have me confused though, coz there's a line about him being called Robin. But maybe I misinterpreted it because I was on my 6th beer by then.
  6. Hello there, I have a question about image share comment moderating and after a look in the forums, I'm still no wiser as to the correct usage for the comment reporting tool. I recently uploaded this: My Image which was meant to be amusing, but appears some people took it the wrong way. There quite a few comments that I'm unhappy with, so do I report each one or do I report just one and the moderator will check the thread or do I report my own image? I'll keep this image up for a bit to give anyone who's interested a chance to see it and read the comments, but then I'll probably just delete it, as it was NOT meant to be anything like several of the comments suggest.
  7. "Trying to write a book. Tell me what you think." OK. First off, good start. But, I am going to tell you what I think. There have been a few posts about syntax and structure but that is secondary to substance and style. A book is a descriptive media. I'm sure you've heard that with books, people need to use their imaginations. But they need a little help. And they need reasons to care about your characters and to go on reading. For example David (age 27) doesn't interest me. David, a tall gangly 27 year old Texan, does. A temple doesn't interest me. A temple of white marble glinting in the sun, does. Do you see where I'm going? A description can be over the top or minimalist, but there needs to be one. At the moment it reads like an introduction to a Computer Game Adventure. Which in itself, is no bad thing. But for a book, it needs more ... life. I'm not trying to knock you or your writing style, just giving a little constructive criticism. And you did ask what I thought. And no, I can't write for toffee. But I do read. A lot. Good Luck.
  8. I moved to South Africa as a little boy and, a few years later aged about 10 came back to England for a holiday. Of course my cousins all wanted to know if it was true that lions and tigers roamed around free. I told them they were stupid because the only tigers in Africa are in zoo's, but yes lions and elephants and stuff wander down the streets. I could tell by their large goggling eyes that they believed me, lol.<br><br>P.S.<br>Also when I was very little I didn't know how cars work, one day while on the motorway I asked my dad about it and he said the car just did what he wanted by thinking about it, but, if I asked the car(whose name was Polly by the way) nicely, it would go faster. So I did and he put his foot down a little. I kept asking until well past the speed limit, then my dad said that Polly had told him she was tired now and slowed down. I was so excited that I could talk to the car and it responded. What an idiot.
  9. I don't mind it so much, especially as BlackRampage says, hitting the 'End' key bypasses them, but it's mainly done by people trying to tell a story. You can't do that by posting separate images, and as jim_uk and others have tried, getting 5 stitched together images to fit in 1.5MB means a LOT of quality loss. The only way to stop it is to disable BB code on the image share and annoy a hell of a lot of posters, myself included. Alternatively, turn the image share into a different, more mainstream animal altogether with maybe 5MB limit for members and 10 MB for Premium, but that's gonna cost loadsa moo-la, and I kind of get the impression the imageshare section has always been more of a tacked on afterthought than a fully developed area. But that's just my 2 cents.
  10. OK, so a little while ago I learnt how to make animated gifs for the first time, a few of which I've uploaded in the image share, and being a silly fool, I decided I wanted to use some of them for my desktop. They didn't work. Much Googling later, I found that Microsoft has disabled animated desktops in Windows 7 for security reasons, and there ain't no way to re-enable 'em officially. Much more Googling later, I tried various other programs which claimed to do it, but failed. One in particular stood out, but it seemed a bit dodgy, needing a registry hack and all. After even more Googling, I found a place where it's already been done and downloaded it. Its called DreamScene and allows you to run any avi, wmv etc as animated desktops. But not gifs. Oh no. However it's easy to turn a gif into a movie using Microsofts own Movie Maker. But not the Live one which is for Windows 7! Instead you need ver 2.6 for Vista! So, after getting that I finally have the ability to run my gifs on my Windows 7 desktop. YAY! Er, right??? Erm, no actually. Yes they will run, BUT... it's very processor intensive. As in contant 45% load. Not good in the long run, methinks. Anyway, there you go, you too can now run an animated gif or a movie on your Windows 7 desktop. Just don't blame me if you hear a very loud bang and the screen goes black. If you do feel like playing, then this is DreamScene for windows 7 and this is MovieMaker 2.6. When installing Dreamscene, follow the instructions properly, as in when it tells you to right click on the file and run as administrator, actually do that or it won't like you. I'm just posting this here for anyone who has the remotest interest and because it took ages to get this far on my own. As for possible overheating issues, for now I have two icons on my desktop. One is an ordinary .bmp, the other a folder of gifs. When I want, I run a gif for a while, then switch back to the .bmp. Well, that's all folks. P.S. I did mention that Microsoft disabled this feature for security reasons, right? Maybe something to think about before you try this and go dashing off to download your favorite dirty movie.
  11. I remember an earthquake that occurred in Germiston(RSA) in the 1980's. It happened in the early hours, woke everyone up and shook things for a few seconds. Later we found that a wall between the garage and the pool area had shifted apart about half a brick's width. My dad had intended putting in a door in that wall to facilitate easier access to the pool area, but after that he decided to just knock it down. Which we did, with hammers! As I was about 10 or 11 at the time, this seemed unbelievebly great. Sanctioned smashing with a hammer? Yes please :wallbash::thumbsup:
  12. If you're looking for female crime writers with a range featuring female protagonists, you can't go wong with the works of Linda Fairstein or Tess Gerritson.
  13. Since I am currently on the dole I strongly resent that statement "dole groping losers". Some of us have worked and paid National Insurance Contributions for years before falling on hard times and running up against age and disability discrimination. And yes, I do knit. Guess it's jumpers for everyone this Christmas then . I'll take three ,blue, red and gray all xtra large please
  14. Thanks Jim, just Googled and found myself, lol. Now I know who I is
  15. Ages ago when I had an image pulled for the first time, the moderator PM'd me with the reason why. I've just had another disappear with no reason that I can fathom as it contained no nudity or foul language, and no explanation given. Is there a way to find out why?
  16. And a bath-full of images come pouring in, lol. Thank you.
  17. @Atherazin This confused me till I saw this was origianally posted back in July. If you'd looked first, you'd have seen I already reported today's fault and Dark0ne is looking into it.
  18. I can't upload an image to the Skyrim Imageshare this evening and notice that there's been no new images for over an hour (7pm local time) which is unusual for Skyrim nexus. Keeps saying 'no file was uploaded', tried logging out and in, deleted browser cache, changed file name, same problem.
  19. Sid Meirs Pirates! It was the first PC game I ever bought way back in 1987(or last week to me) It came in a 'proper' box with 'faux' wooden surround and a drawing of one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen on the back. Inside was a couple? of 5 1/4 inch floppy disks, a big fat manual and a huge map made out of dead peoples skin(probably). I loved that game and played for hours at a time, sailing across the carribean. Later they released Pirates!Gold which was the exact same game but with VGA graphics, but somehow it didn't seem as good. And the final? version in the 2000's was a little lame. And thats how I became a sad lonely little gamer with no life :pirate: http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff385/Dazasterous/Sid_Meiers_Pirates_1987_Coverart.jpg
  20. I hung on to XP till around January this year when I needed to upgrade to more ram, then got Win 7 64. Wish I had done it a lot sooner, Win 7 is XP on steroids. But in a good way, not a testosterone fueled madman way. More ram, plus DX11, whats not to like?
  21. Trolls aside, I spend most of my time here in the Image Share section these days, where I find I'm really missing being able to 'thumbs up' someone's comment, or see others 'liking' comments I've made. It's made the atmosphere somewhat lacking, I'm afraid. Maybe add a 'Like This' button for comments with a number counter, no 'dislike' button at all, just for users to interact with each other a little?
  22. Bring it back for general use with up-repping only, to signal one's empathy/support for what a poster has written, add a <troll msg> button for 'those' posts, which doesn't appear on the sites themselves but admin can track back to whoever is using it, which will pretty quickly show who's using it as a weapon and they can be warned or banned, as well as see what/who genuine site users are considering troll stuff.
  23. Bridge to engine room. Give me warp factor 9 :woot:
  24. The Six Million Dollar Man, series 3, The Secret Of Bigfoot. They rebuilt him and put him on DVD. It's ace all over again, lol. And yes, I AM 5 going on 40.
  25. Conspiracy believers never cease to amaze me. Many of them seem to be purported by piple who kant tipe proply, even spelling the same word wrong twice in a single sentence, having never learned or event learnt to spellcheck. No wonder your government wants to control you. Conspiracies are good for one thing: getting people to leave you alone in a bar. To sum up, when dealing with conspiracies, always remember : THERE IS NO SPOON.
