  1. Okay, so I'm trying to put a new horse with a new skin in the Skyrim world. I can get the horse to appear, but it won't have my new skin on it. I did the nifskope thing, assigning the new textures to the model but it won't work in the CK or ingame. What am I doing wrong? Here's what I do, step by step: 1. drag and drop new mesh into horse section of CK 2. duplicate player horse, give it a new ID 3. straight down from there at the bottom is a drop menu labeled "actorbase" I change that to the name of my new mesh 4. I uncheck the "traits" box below that here's what I'm looking at: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/coreinha/guh_zpsc7253da2.png
  2. i thought that's where I was! *headdesk* My bad, so sorry!
  3. actually, I misspoke - there is no button under death item it's just a blank space. Here's what I do, step by step: 1. drag and drop new mesh into horse section of CK 2. duplicate player horse, give it a new ID 3. straight down from there at the bottom is a drop menu labeled "actorbase" I change that to the name of my new mesh 4. 4. oh, that's what I was missing - I did everything right up until "underneath death item" I was just missing a last step. Thank you so much!
  5. okay, so my understanding was this: To make a completely new horse with a different texture, I need a different model. So I copied the original horse mesh and renamed it, then used Nifskope to apply the texture. Then I drag and drop the mesh into the CK in the horse section. It creates the horse, but the only textures available are the textures I already have (slof's, actually). BUT if I double click on the mesh (not in CK, but just in it's usual folder) a window pops up that shows the horse with the new texture.
  6. thanks now someone make me my fancy carriage, lol! And my magnificent silver, blue and white armor!
  7. This is so weird! If i just double click the icon for my re-textured horse, it appears in a CK window with the proper texture. But when I import the horse to the CK and put it where I want it, it has the default horse texture and there's no listing of my retexture. And when I test in game, it's the same thing. Default horse texture. What am I missing here? HELP!
  8. okay, I've got the horse retextured in Nifskope, but now it won't show up as retextured in the CK when I import it.
  9. hello! I'm attempting to retexture a horse and put it in Skyrim via the CK. I was having trouble getting the skin to go on the horse, so I searched out a tutorial on the net. In that tutorial it told me to use Nifskope, so I downloaded that program and found another tutorial. However, I can't get it to work! I've done everything I'm supposed to, set the texture paths correctly, selected the model, and I can't figure out how to apply my damn texture! HELP!
  10. oh, ALSO! 4.) Is anyone working on new clothes for the kids? They all have the same outfits, just in different colors! There are a few retex mods out there, but they mostly just improve on existing textures.
  11. Hello! I specialize in building player home mods and other locations, but there have been a couple mod ideas I have that I lack the ability and software to produce, thus I shall place them here in hopes that someone with more time and skill and software will create them! And if someone wants to build a quest around one of these stupid ideas, I'm happy to lend my voice for acting and my skills in location building for help! :) 1.) Horse and wagon - this idea came from my horse always tripping over that stupid loose cart by Windhelm. I don't know if it's even possible, but how lovely if you could rig up a cart with a trunk on it to your horse! Maybe with a mobile campsite sort of thing? I know there were a couple of mods that had mobile campsites in Oblivion. Anyways, I really like the idea of riding a horse with a little cart hitched to it. A trunk or two on the cart. Can it be done? 2.) It's stupid, but this has always bugged the hell out of me. (spoiler alert) In the Main Quest, you arrive at the Thalmor party in a wagon, but it's the same, worn rickety wagon they carted prisoners around in at the beginning! Shouldn't that wagon be fancier? Someone make that wagon fancy please! :) 3.) I'm so frustrated with the new armor set mods out there. There are LOTS of them, but not one looks the way I wish! I want something feminine and sexy that doesn't leave the character half naked! Mostly white, elegant, sort of magical looking. Like a wizard/high priestess sort of thing. But (let me reiterate please) NOT half-naked! A little skin is okay, but running around half-naked in Skyrim is silly! It's cold out there! Also, make it for the UNP body please. :D In the meantime, I'm working on a really cool player home. It eclipses everything I did for Oblivion! :D
  12. So this is more of a glitch, but it was pretty funny. I got caught in the big fight in Markarth after you liberate Madanach from Cidnha silver mine, and since I was done with the quest I decided to go on immortal mode so I wouldn't get killed. Which was lucky, because some lunatic guard chopped my head off! The problem was that thereafter I had no head. I tried switching genders, opening the race menu, all sorts of stuff to reset my character but nothing worked. Well I didn't want to run around with a headless character forever, so I wound up going back to an older save and having to redo the stupid Cidnha mine quest anyways. It was pretty funny watching my character run around Skyrim headless. Even funnier was the NPCs acted like nothing was wrong!
  13. I was heading to Nocturnal's Santuary where you do the Pilgrim's Path thing at the end of the Thief's Guild questline, and happened upon this gawky youth standing over a wolf carcass yelling "get up! Get up!" Naturally this piqued my curiosity, so I stopped and talked to him. It turns out he found this staff that had belonged to his grandfather or something and all of a sudden the dead started rising around him. He thought it was his power, even went to the College of Winterhold where they laughed at him and told him it was the staff. So now he was standing out in the middle of nowhere, attempting to raise a wolf from the dead to prove them wrong. Obviously unsuccessfully. I tried to get him to give me the staff, but he would not. So I tried to pick pocket the staff away from him, but he caught me. Annoyed, I killed him and took the rather valuable staff off his corpse. Then I continued merrily along my way to the Sanctuary.
  14. my obsession with jumping off high places has led me to make an (admittedly stupid) leap off the edge of Throat of the World. I got up as high as I could on the mountain - grabbed my notched pickax, thank you very much - then got a running start and jumped.................................. .................and then proceeded to watch my character roll down the entire mountain. And I do mean the ENTIRE mountain. I finally stopped rolling when I hit that barrow outside the little town at the foot of the 7,000 steps. Go figure. Where is Bard's Leap at? I must make this jump!
  15. ooh, I love these kinds of things! I was riding my horse from Dawnstar to Winterhold and I happened on that lighthouse where you investigate the murdered family. So after I did that and put the father's remains in the lighthouse fire, I continued on to Winterhold. Halfway between the light house and Alftand I found a mammoth frozen into a glacier! That made me chuckle, the developers have an odd sense of humor sometimes. I also have this (admittedly weird) obsession with climbing as high as I can up mountains, then diving off the side into rivers or lakes. If you do it just right, you'll just hit the water and not get hurt (or die). But it's got to be done just so, or you'll wind up as a cartwheeling corpse flying down the mountainside. I spent two hours trying to do that outside Sky Haven Temple this morning. I think my favorite story is when I was fighting a random dragon when a giant stomped up out of nowhere and killed it for me with one blow. I would have thanked him, but then he turned on me and I had to kill him.
  16. I think it's Esbern, he's so into the Dragon lore and Dragonborn, but he wouldn't want Delphine to know he's helping you since you're supposed to kill Paarthurnax. On the other hand, it COULD be Balgruuf's court wizard, he also seems to be very into Dragon lore and he did know where the dragon stone was.
  17. yus! Now if only I knew the back story behind those glowing, bouncy balls....
  18. you mean 'psijic' ? I don't think soooo....you see several of them in the Mages guild quest and they look rather tall to be Dwemer.
  19. ooh, I used the coral claw...buuuuuuuuuuuut I cant remember where sorry XD
  20. yes but WHERE did they go? I maintain my theory that they did not die but are stuck in the time stream somewhere.
  21. I wonder what the back story is. If there isn't one, maybe there should be...
  22. There's one on a shelf in the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary, the first one not the Dawnstar one.
