  1. Thank you all VERY much for your consideration and input! I've seen two of these machines at a local Best Buy, but better than that, we have a tiny computer store, independently owned, down Main Street from us. I will check there and see if he can do custom builds like you suggest, or if we decide to go with a pre-built Asus, if he can order it in for us. Thanks a LOT! :)
  2. We're debating getting a new system but have a very limited budget (yeah, I know, who doesn't). Currently looking at these: Asus Essentio Desktop / AMD Phenom™ II X6 Processor / 8GB Memory / 1TB Hard Drive / ATI Radeon 3000, $560 Asus Essentio Desktop / AMD Phenom™ II X6 Processor / 8GB Memory / 1TB Hard Drive / ATI 6450, $620 Asus Essentio Desktop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 8GB Memory / 1TB Hard Drive / NVIDIA GT 530, $850 My goal is to be able to play FO3 and FNV with higher definition and less stuttering than our poor current computer (it's ancient and it tries, but...). NO stuttering would be really nice. So main questions are: is the ATI 6450 worth $60 more than the Radeon? And is the i7/530 worth $200 more than either of them? Thanks for any input!
  3. Wow, this is so cool.... Will this mod include bald eagles mutated into Piasa birds? XD The Piasa would make such a cool mutation.... Seriously, though, it's gonna be so neat to play Fallout in a familiar setting!
  4. Well said. I don't know enough yet to know when I'm right and when I'm wrong. :) You're fantabulous. You can't kudo someone more than once, can you? :}
  5. Cool! Is is going to be strictly poses, or animations, like billyro was asking about? (Love your pose pack, btw. :>)
  6. Ah, llama, again you go above and beyond in your efforts to educate. :) Thing is, I did all those things- or at least, I tried. I must have typed in something wrong or missed a name change or something. I'm thinking about backtracking through my guy's mod like I'm making it from the very start so I can check the code line by line. If those are the things you do, and I've done them, I obviously dropped a ball somewhere. And I will definitely check out drakeelvin's esp. I know there are mods that let you make companions, but then the companions have to run alongside that mod-- NCCS, for example. And maybe this is silly, but I didn't want to stand on someone else's shoulders-- I wanted my little esp to be mine. I want to know how to do all this stuff, and why it works, so I can reliably (or as reliably as I can do anything) do it again. But drakeelvin's esp sounds like it's more of a roadmap than someone else's base to build your own companion on. I will comb through it right now. Thank you. Again. As always. :D (Oh, and I sent you a question about Audacity-- please ignore that. XD )
  7. This is probably not what you want to hear, but I've combed through the forums for an answer to this myself (several people have had this difficulty, apparently). Everybody says to use pretty much the code you've given as an example and to set your NPC as a teammate, but those things alone will not connect the wheel correctly-- or at least, they haven't for me, and I've tried five or six times (NPCs based on vanilla followers as well as made from scratch). I've gone through about a half dozen companion mods looking for the answer, but I haven't found it yet. Sigh. I wish you luck, though, and if you figure it out, would you please post it to the forums? :)
  8. I just found the reference in the edit history at the wiki-- I shoulda looked there first. :X From http://fallout.wikia.com/index.php?title=ED-E_My_Love&diff=prev&oldid=1226198#Unknown_Log <quote> Audio log 1 To trigger the first message, try any one of the following: blah blah blah Audio log 2 etc. Unknown Log Talk to Senior Knight Lorenzo in Hidden Valley. Talk to Quartermaster Mayes at Camp Forlorn Hope about retrieving NCR Dogtag. Additional Log Notes (top ones trimmed) It is possible to be contacted by Brotherhood and the Followers without obtaining all three logs. </quote> I'm actually relieved to find this (cool, I'm not crazy-- well, not about this, anyway) as well as a third log mentioned on a couple other forums, but frustrated I can't find it in the game or the geck anymore. Sigh.
  9. Yeah, I know. I don't know why I remember Lorenzo's communication as a third recording, but at least it's not something that got hacked up in a Steam update or something. Thanks!
  10. Okay, here's the weird (and perhaps psycho, if I'm imagining this) thing-- I recall the Wiki referring to a third recording, but they hadn't narrowed down its triggers yet and just listed possible NPCs/words that might get it going. Maybe I just had the most realistic gaming dream ever. :)
  11. I would swear that the first time I played the game, ED-E had a third Enclave recording before Lorenzo asked about him. I can't find it in my old saves or in the Geck, so I'm beginning to think I imagined it. Has anyone else ever triggered a third log?
  12. Count me ignorant, but-- with the author's permission or for personal use, can those be ported into Fallout? And I apologize in advance if that's an astoundingly stupid question. I am brand-spanking-new to modding. :P
  13. You shouldn't be. You can't modify an ESM. Whatever you do, when you save it becomes an ESP plugin and if you screw up you can simply delete that and you're good to go. Good point-- thanks SO much! :D
  14. There is a cat on the cover of All Roads-- doesn't that make them canon? I'd love a mod for cats-- house cats, cougars, lynx, whatever I could get. :) I've read that housecats are likely not only to survive an apocalypse but to actually thrive because of it. A serval wouldn't be a bad look for a mutated kitty, either.
  15. Go here: http://www.cipscis.com/fallout/tutorials/beginners.aspx and explore. :) LlamaRCA recommended this info to me as I am just starting as well, and it's been truly helpful. And a bit dangerous-- "Oh, cool, I can do *that*?" XD Good luck!
  16. I'm thinking of changing just one line, an option for the player to say. How afraid should I be of touching it? :)
  17. I haven't seen anything posted regarding progress, but yeah, if it's like Sydney, it'll definitely be worth the wait. :)
  18. I figured this mod would exist already, but couldn't find one at the nexus...has anybody seen one that lets you rehire Arcade after finishing For Auld Lang Syne?
  19. Good for you. But there've been other threads with people whining about "why would anybody want this mod"...since you sounded like just one more, I figured you were. Pleased to be wrong on that count.
  20. Oh, I'm sorry, I thought it was a game. (/smartass) Seriously, though-- 1. Yes, I'm a weirdo. 2. Playing the game with Black Widow gives the player a whole different, ah, angle on Benny. <g> Really, I don't understand people who poke their heads into threads they disagree with just so they can disagree with it. Dude. We're all goofy geeks about something or we wouldn't be here in the first place. :>
  21. I second all of this wholeheartedly-- real life should always come first, and dude, hope you are okay. :) But I'm also very glad to know you haven't abandoned the mod altogether. I'm planning on buying the game again for PC *JUST* to play this mod. :D
  22. Yeah, but hadn't seen a version with Charon...been hoping, though. And YES to companion banter. The wasteland needs more of it.
  23. Aw, HELL yeah! That doesn't sound bad. Maybe something along the lines of boosting charisma or luck, or getting into casinos without giving up all your weapons since he heads one of the families...eh, I suck at coming up with perk ideas. :> Thanks for putting the mod together. If it's as good as your Sydney, it'll be worth the waiting time.
