  1. hey guys, whats up? come in come in, please do. JEEZ!, take off those shoes, god knows where you have been.:confused: Well lets get started. Do we have any Java programmers here? Im making a roleplaying app for oblivion, its going to create a completely random and unique backstory for the `Serious Roleplayer'. Im doing this of course using strings, mashing them together. The best way aha. Im having an issue, and I was hoping someone could help. Ive got my string set up, lets say its name. Ive got it to generate random names. Good, great. But when the user clicks the button, it writes the result to a JLabel, we will call it `Scroll.,' Now, heres my BIG issue, If I can get this figured out, I can release the application. How, in gods name, do I get my button to create a random result every time it is clicked? If someone can anser this and help me get it working, im offering a £5 reward. Its not much, but it could be a lot more depending on how happy I am feeling aha. So come on in, or if you know a friend who knows some java, link em to this topic., and let them earn some money.:laugh:
  2. I would rather give my money to a fellow modder, who has earned it. Then to a charity. Where I have no idea where my money is going towards. I always donate if I enjoy the work of ANYONE in the gaming community. I help indie companys if they have a game I like, I donate to servers I play on, hell, I even buy an artists soundtrack if I think its good enough. So I would say OPINION wise, ASKING for donations is fine. Anyone who has a problem with ASKING for money needs to have their head checked. ( not meant to be offensive) Now, the debate of `its a hobby,' and `The people do it because they love the game,' - are both wrong. I dont belive and never have done that the modding community does so for the community. They do so for two things - personal use and to make people (who ever they are) satisfied. No modder in his right mind would make a mod he or she does not wish to use for themself. What a waste of time. And no modder would every create a mod just for one group in paticular. We have a great, friendly and fun atmosphere here at the nexus. I dont think any member of the staff would have an issue against anyone selling their work, BUT. and heres the problem. If the site does allow people to buy ( not donate) how would they regulate the trade? It could become a case of `he stole my work,' `she took the idea for a quest,' all of this plays into the paying for a mod. Long rant over. TL/DR? - modders do not do it for money. - modders do not do it FOR YOU. - modders are normal people. who would enjoy it if you bought them a pint once in a while. But thats just my take on it.:pirate:
  3. once in blender, dont forget to ASSISGN THE MESH A MATERIAL. When I started out, this always got me angry >.< No material? No block in nifscope. Report back your findings.
  4. The tut is perfectly fine for use in blender. Blender has arrays and lots of handy tools. Once I stop learning java I shall have to give this method a try. :)

  6. What a stupid bloody thing to say.:confused: Why do trolls have to be so obvious. For anyone who is considering becomming premium - just do it. Downloading large mods is a matter of minutes, I enjoy watching firefox download it rather than crying at the speed of it. You also get to feel a lil good at the face your helping the nexus (even with such a small sum of money) Dont forget, a lot of other modding sites make users pay for some features that us nexus users take for granted. If im honest, I was shocked to see the nexus had a chat, not only a chat, but a staffed one for all the members. Anyways, im glad the guy got what was comming -.-
  7. That first screenshot is so beautifuly hi-res its unrealistic. I think thats a FANTASTIC improvment over the original content of the game. Maybe they should offer you a job ;-)
  8. Make a high poly model of it. Bake the model. Apply the normal map to a low poly tube. use baduk's tutorial on rigging ( his snake tutorial is fantastic!) see if you can get it to use working collision in game - just for the experience. - winning?

  11. You will want to change the projection node one.....it should be located at the end of the barrel. Not sure if you can tilt it down facing >.> I dont mess with nifskope that much aha.
  12. Wow, Lil wayne, Im VERY impressed by this man. Those screens - the one of the safe room to be precise, looks FANTASTIC! What a BEAUTIFUL room you have made, even if you did not make the assets yourself, youve done a good job of making a belivable safe room. Making quests is quite easy, I suggest using the geck tutorial, it teaches very very basic questing, but its sueful none the less. :)
  13. Thats pretty nice. im not a huge fan of sculpting, it looks....chisiled? But for the look your going for and the sources you are using as inspiration id say its the way to go. As for the poly's thank god your using maps for this thing xD On a new note; Im happy with your design, I think youve come up with something new and unique, and good luck in your class.:thumbsup:
  14. Are you sure? I can provide voice clips with and without static, you guys can just mix and match. Be sure to email me the beta stuff, this mod looks great. :) Ill have the variations done by tonight :)
  15. As far as im aware, and the logical step, is that you CANNOT contain the actual files. So, people who makes mods for dead money for instance, DO NOT PROVIDE THOSE FILES. That is against the rules. However, making a mod that REFRENCES the files on the users pc is not against the rules. So, no, you would not be able to make this mod using F03 rescources. As the user would have to download the files off you. The nexus is heavily against piracy, so the staff do all they can to stop people uploading files they do not own. I think its a logical rule.

  17. Hi guys, Im doing my voices for new vegas bounties today, I might as well hit two birds with one stone! I can provide a lot of voices, a lot of random chatter. So, I shall post when I finish them off ;-) Anythign more specific you want? Im going to include things like `We have reached point alpha,' `this is charlie, Alpha is ours,' `This is Bravo, Alpha is ours,' ect. But anythign specific would really help.,
  18. Aha, Ok. Calm down. What is it your trying to model? Its probbably not as hard as you are making it out to be. Second - Yu said you use 3dmax? Surely that can open the file? If so, open it in max, and export it to FNV via 3dmax nif exort :)
  19. He wont merge the NV interiors with Deadmoney. That would be stupid, seeing as half of us dont even have plans to use Dead money for a while. Instead, and I presume, the dead money content will be kept as a seperate download. I dont see why you guys are complaining. Its his mod. :rolleyes:
  20. As far as I am aware blender does ont support this file type. Your best bet is to find an exporer for gmax, to allow it to export a few new file types. Also, I only know of p3d due to operation arrowhead......Ive not heard of gmax myself. It might be better to simply use blender, as there are more rescources availible for you to use.
  21. Heres another update. I finished the texture for the walls of the hunting lodge buildig(s).......I say it as a pural because I do plan to reuse this texture, with variations to create a couple of new walls here and there. The planks tile perfectly If you are curious ;-) Im happy to say im enjoying my new look on texturing and Its really proving to improve on my modeling experience. I AM STILL LOOKING FOR TEAM MEMBERS so get in touch. Also, im doing voice work on tuesday for the best part of half a day, so No real progress there im afraid. enjoy the eye candy and tell me what you think . :)

  23. ears are relatively simply to mod. Once more thing I would suggest for this to make it look more seamless would be to resize the bottom half of the uv's. Do this by selecting the bottom vertices, the ones that form the basic human ear, and resize them so that they go over the original skin. This way, you SHOULD get a nice, clean human ear texture. As for the top half, You will want to find a plain area of skin, as the ear does ont contain any major veins or blushing ect, you will probbably want to put the top vetices on his .....well, from the pictures provided - The neckline. :) As I say, pm me any questions you have.
  24. Hi Riven. Your right, thats a horrid UV map, but not to worry. To get the best unwrap for your ears I would suggest doing an `unwrap from view,' via blender. To do this propperly for your ears do the following; 1. - go into side veiw (default 3 on numpad) 2. - highly the ear you are looking at, not both. 3. - Hit U in the 3d view - A menu will pop up , your looking for either unwrap from veiw or project from veiw. One of the two. Doing this will cause the ears to keep their shape, however, this is not a GREAT uv map.....It will skin the item better than what you have but you may have streching and/or some bad quality issues. I think a big problem may be your model. Ears are tricky to model, they depend on having a good edge flow. In the uv map screen I can see a lot of vertices, far more than I would wager you need. If you want, You can upload the blend file to a secure location, I shall download it, and see if I can teach you how to improve upon it. - Hope I helped Allan :pirate:
