  2. I dont see the point. use the filter. Im suprised you dont understand the NV naming convention, following the geck tutorial is very simple and sets the stage for how almost all ( games ive ever modded) are followed using a naming convention. Its SO simple to organise and find assets. Much better than using the old oblivion construction set atleast :thumbsup:
  3. I dont bother with a desktop background anymore. Ive got WAY to many icons, form every project I can think off. I never seem to delete them, as I think of everything as having a use one day. Also, got in trouble at work once. I had a hilarious desktop wallpaper that might offend some. So I wont bother posting it xD
  4. Hi Urbex. I was thinking of doing that for the location, and building the actual hunting location as an island and spliting it up. it would seem great minds think alike, I also had the idea to use the legion boat ride as away of getting to my island. Ive not even set foot in the geck yet as ive been busting my .....chops with textuing and modeling. Once ive got the basic mesh's and textures - e.g the hunting lodge (where you collect rewards and such) done I can move onto the build. For version 1.0 - Im going to make a small secluded walled off area, Creatures will spawn in this area, In shall give them diffrent attributes, not mess with the mesh's yet and just play around. I will make these new creature have unique items... example being `lizard skull,' as a chance of being dropped on a lizard. You will use these individule parts ot create a new armor/or sell them for caps.
  5. Quick update; I just finished work on the floor texture.... Took a long time, but its tiling nicely, here is a quick 2d demo ( the floor from above via photoshop) Obviously, The beams are above the stones, the normal map shall reflect this. This may seem weird, but im going for the hunting lodge type of feel here guys, so stick with me aha. Learning to texture is hard, I thought id be painting a lot omre things, but its all filters.....memorising a lot of filters >.< Anyway, here it is, Im going to start work on the walls tommorow. Then It wil be sprucing up the hut, e.g - adding eye candy - lamps on walls, pictures. After that comes clutter. The actual bones of the quest is easy stuff to do, so im kinda leaving that last. I already have the reward and hunting method figured out. Please post any comments guys =D Author note: - the original texture is one of those four blocks. its four times the size, hence four times as much quality.   6. Hi guys, And update here. At the moment im making the hunting lodge. You will notice that im making a lot of the main mesh's first, and some people may be doubting progress on this mod. The reason im doing all the `visual,' main points first is so I get the drive to complete this project. At the moment I am in a serious crossroads as to this mod being for oblivion or fallout new vegas. Its more suited to oblivion - hunting with bows, I could make near limitless armor for oblivion. The only thing keeping me working on new vegas, is the fact it is realativly new ( bigger playerbase) and the fact if my mod gets out there, people will enjoy playing it for a longer time. Also, I am going to be doing AN ONLINE LESSON. for anyone intrested, its going to be one/two hour class on how to make an object in blender, a static object. Port it over inro nifskope. Get it into the geck. And get it working in game. If your intrested in this, or know someone who it, Simply send me a pm, it will all be done via livestream ( I used to stream minecraft for qubetubers ;-)) and will be live. We are all friends here.:thumbsup: So today im here to convince you to learn a new skill.Well, not really to convince you, not to make a better person out of you. No, more like, well, asking you to reconsider your options. This is not some soppy tale, It relates to modding And skill sets. In a small sense, It relates to life. It was nearly two months ago when I first heard the release of Shogun Two total war. A game I have been waiting for almost as long as I have been waiting for Rome Total war two....(still waiting on that one >.<). I work for a living, so getting the money is simply a case of earning the money. You get in what you get out. Now, im going to put this on the table here. I hate my job. As in, I wake up and count how many days until I get off work. thats a bad job kids. So I put the hours in, I was about to pre-order....... When suddenly I open up blender and start to work on a small model, just a tiny project. A helmet. I figure `its better than spending money and not getting anything,'. In a way I like to think I was correct. This is around the date steam started to offer pre-orders of S2TW and belive me, I feel like im missing out at this point. The days go by, I keep putting it off. I keep working on my models. I get so far one day its insane. I made a set of samurai armor in blender. Im talking, Badass - chestplate, cloth arms and legs..... heck I think I made the sandles on those things. I get to uving that thing. man it felt like forever. I pop a simple UV map into photoshop. I am so excited at this point, Im going to make it. Im going to be one of the best modders by the end of this! So proud of myself. You know what comes next. I'm stuck in photoshop now. I have my uvmaps. I Know what I want it to look like. I know what I want the feeling to be. Its not the best model, I am still new to modeling....its not great, its not fantastic, But this armor is my best work so far. Its 8:40-something(its a real time in england) Im tired. Tired on my day off. Ive been in photoshop for two hours and all I have to show for it is a chest plate that looks like a block of cream with black sticks on it. My texture sucks! I hate it, Was all this really for nothing? I rage quit. The first time in, well, The first time since I was 15 I think, a program gets the better of me and I rage quit. I close my work in blender, I did not save ONCE. Im not angry. Not annoyed at not saving. I loved making the armor. I felt annoyed at myself, To come so far and face a wall I had no experience with. I did not start out knowing how to model, I was am such a noob moddeler its a laugh. I love what I do. :rolleyes: So, I spent my money for STW2 and spent it on a book. Its called `3D Game textures,' "Create professional game art using photoshop" Im in love with this book and I only got it in the post 40 minutes ago... Its not going to make me a fantastic texture artist, However im convinced that once I try some of his methods. I Will be pumping out fantastic models instead of badly textured mishapen looking things. TLDR? I got fed up with not being able to produce anything worth while. I got fed up of not being proud of my work. I spent money on a book. I think im going to make something off myself, and learn to enjoy my hobby even more! My point? The skills I have learned from this communtiy are vast. I think, even those of us who are new, or those of us who are old dogs, enjoy the sense of community this nexus has. I belive in a community we need highly skilled people to support us and make us strong. So, instead of aksing someone to make a mod, attempt to do so yourself. Instead of wishing someone is going to give you something. Pick up a book. This post is longwinded. and tells a dull story of a dull event. But hopefully I inspire 1 person, to rea d a guide, buy a book, or even just help out in the community. Thats all, Oceot.

  13. Dont be discouraged even if someone else is using the same locaiton. For the user, it can be as simple as unticking a box to simply play your mod, and retick the original. I would not worry about conflicts at this moment in time. Instead, focus on the quests, once done, you can release and have the users state conflicts. You can fix these in later releases. ( seeing as all you will be doing is building a few new interior cells and modifying the outside i presume) This is the way I would do it. Chances are someone has modded every dang building in the game >.>

Yes, Native american armor would be INSANE to model, and would love to get to work on some :D It would be cool to make it show a fair bit of skin, like real native americans, none of this age of empires rubbish aha. Thetune, Id love to ehar some idea's. Im trying to make this a real `community,' mod project, anyone who is willing can get involved really :) @ Glen - I shall be using my `charmander,' model as a dinosour model. Skin it green. There you have a dinosour to kill.....well, a creature that looks like a dinosour. It will be used for testing really. Float, Im in love with your distillery mod and would love to use blackpowder rifles. Im not good at guns myself, but if in future you do fancy doing somethign I would love to use it. Well, im all set up here to do some work, Sounds like some native american armor is in order. :P

  17. Ahh, I understand what you mean. As in an event script. I would start a quest. - Get to a point in the quest where the player is given a special weapon....maybe a tranq gun or something. And the a script would run that gives the p ..........- SCRATCH THAT- I could simple do an event so that if the player `kills,' the animal using a gun other than the tranq gun ( the tranq gun would put the enemy to `sleep,' ( its really dead...but....you know >.>) if the player uses....a shotgun, it would say `quest failed, blah blah,' and not give the reward.... I think thats how I could do it. :) A quick update. I finished the leather rack. Until I get a atleast another team member im going to be working on small static meshes for a bit....so we have things to decorate and use.

Hi Paladin, I understand that you have your own project, and wish you the best of luck. :) Hopefully this project will allow me to `train,' some people and get them into modding, so more modders, more mods. I like your idea, But would not know how to code it in.... If it is XP as in level xp, that would be easy to do :) Im sure it would make hunting a deathclaw leader worth the scare aha. maybe in future I could make a `score,' system. based on the amount of creatures you kill you unlock guns and armor. .....I just realised I CAN do that, I could give every animal a `token,' and make it so an NPC will only accept this as a currency....or do it via the quest topics......aha, thats got my creative juices going >.<

You can be a new modder or an old hand. You must, be commited. When working with others, I need to know I can trust you. My workflow is simple. Once you apply for a role, I give you a simple task to complete, and see how long it takes. Its not a test, dont worry aha. Instead, think of it as a workflow method. I dont mind if an object takes three days to reach me, as long as I get it. Obviously the quicker the better, unless I need it quickly you shall not be rushed. These are the current Roles I have open for team members; Scripter. Must have an understanding of GECK scripting. Nothing too advanced. Simply `if player goes here and does that, do this,' Concept Artist This is more of a personal request. I am bad at art. Let me say that. As such I am always ALWAYS looking for a friendly concept artist to lend a hand and to work with. Your art does not have to follow a `set style,' 3d Artist Preferable for you to be using blender. Due to myself using it. Your job is to work on various meshes, this can and WILL range from a static statue to a creature mesh ( at a later stage) - As a note, I would PREFER you to understand how to texture. even if you cannot texture yourself. I will do so if you have a good uv map.Pirates I mean voice actors. Needed at a later date. I felt I should add this incase anyone is wondering. Please keep in mind,nothing is final. These pictures have been put together in five minutes. I would like you to keep your opinions of my highly prized artwork to yourself. even the queen of england thinks these doodles are fantastic =D. All joking Aside, please do offer feedback, good bad, and ugly. This is, after all, a mod for and hopefully by the community. I shall be lead modder and by the looks of things the only modder, so if you do not speak up I will never hear your idea. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In `Gone Hunting,' the player is given the chance to hunt for a living. Avoiding the main storyline if he or she wishes, altogether. Unamed. - here the player learns how to hunt, completes the small quest and is set free to hunt. Hunting zone one. - Creature spawns are plentyful. Weak creatures. Easy kills. Not worth a lot. Big hunting zone. - Very hard kills. Sneaking and using `crits,' will be almost essential. However, killing one green dino is said to reward the player with a `green dinosour helm.'. This is how the zones will work. Hopefully this shall appeal to both sides of the gaming fence, The ones who `want to hunt,' and those who wish to make a few quick caps. Obviously I cannot lure someone into the big danger zone if they do not want to actually win some armor, or a funny hat, but the option is there. Now, I might have stated this, but the zones may or may not be on an actual `island,'. Due to new vegas being one solid landmass I might have to simple enclose the hunting grounds in seperate locations. However, another option is to use the Ceasors legion base camp and modify that area.   24. I think its the best policy. I like to know why people endorse mods, I dont want people endorsing just because it has a lot of chicks in a mod or something stupid. Endoring also sohws if the files have been used in another mod in my case, I do modders rescources for FNV so if someone endorses, its a sign that they have used my items ......usually.
  25. Hi luke Im a blender man myself, so any 3d max work your best to see pickin about. As for the animation, fallout uses its own animations, I know you can create your own but ive yet to learn how. your best to import a similar pistol into 3d max, make it scale, and align all the nodes up propperly. Rather than using a custom animation.
