  1. I seriously doubt this will ever happen. Your first and greatest hurdle will be language. And no one will be prepared to part with theirs. This is what gives people identity. I doubt whether you are aware of how bound various cultures are to theirs. What makes a German a German or Chinese person Chinese ? Not the country where they live but their language. Only by destroying or removing this impossible barrier can you even hope to begin your Utopia. That type of grey culture you propose has zero chance of succeeding. As long as any two or more people speak a different language - there will always be a visible and clearly defined barrier between cultures.
  2. Was this disk one (the game only one) or two with the DLC's ? If it was disk two, then you're experiencing what a lot of us have already been through. The way that this normally works is to load disk two (if that's the disk giving problems), and and come back in about 10 minutes time and it should "sync" with your PC. That disk normally takes foreverrrrrrrrr, but it will sync.
  3. Are you using FOMM or NMM ? What happens when you launch the game, does it simply not launch or does it crash instantly ? Have you tried uninstalling everything including Patch 1.7 ? Have you tried launching the game with game's own launcher ? A bit more info then perhaps myself or someone here better clued up might be able to assist.
  4. I would have to agree with JimUk, you cannot put everyone into the same box, however, depending on your environment you can be made more "sexually aware" through association. At seven yrs old I can clearly remember the game of "Doctor Doctor" where my "difference" was highlighted by a neighbours kid and I was made to feel "ashamed". After telling my mother she had a fit and marched over to my neighbour and it all ended rather badly for the kid his parents beat the living daylights out of him. After that, my mother would regularly question me about the boys at school and that simply made matters worse because now I was put into a position where my sexuality was a regular highlight in my life. Quite frankly I couldn't understand all the fuss, all I wanted was my beads, drawing books, and my dog. Things got worse when my mom caught me watching a program where two people were kissing. All hell broke loose, and I got a good tanning. So in short, overprotective parents mess up big time with the wrong approach. And I wouldn't be too surprised if the kid in the picture's parents aren't doing the same.
  5. Hope this helps ... http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-security/do-i-need-to-turn-off-windows-defender-with/c581e37f-376f-44e5-a885-f7cbf9ae810b
  6. Correct, in all probability it's a mod that's causing this ... to fix this I normally un-tick three or four at a time and then start the game eventually through elimination you're going to find the problem mod. I've also discovered that by going to a previous save - about two saves earlier - that also sometimes helps to solve the problem as you sometimes find yourself in a glitch area. That's why by using the mod CASM - a mod that automatically saves your game according to your configuration - you don't have to go all the way back to 3 or 4 "level up's', to when you last saved. You can now go back to the last 5 or 10 minutes ago save and reload.
  7. Thanks a million it's fine again
  8. I've made a bit of a mess with NMM ... I've somehow dragged and detached both menu's from the main screen of NMM and don't know how to re-attach them ... please help. Thanks so much.
  9. As I live in a nation that is a Democracy with a Constitution I wish it were not so. Our nation has a history of oppression and injustice from both local and foreign overlords. And when things were at a point where all could be set right for ALL, the dreaded curse of Democracy reared it's ugly head. Spurred on by a world that was drunk with the concept of Democracy our leaders jumped onto the band wagon and chose to adopt this accursed worldly offspring. Democracy might work in Europe and The States but that's it. The supposed draw card in favour of Democracy might be the liberation from systems like Dictatorships, warlords etc., to a place where the common man has a say in the running of the nation. But this new system of governance fails to notice the demographics or make up of the people within that nation. So in a nation where there are 65% of "A's", 20% of "B's", 15% of "C's" you are simply going to get a nation that falls into the trap of a new "legal appointed oppressor" where the "A's" dominate the rest. So where is that any different from the previous system ? Democracy doesn't work for everyone and so should be recognised as such. I remember my father telling me that the best approach to this type of situation would be the Swiss Canton system whereby all of the "smaller percenters" would still have a voice. Each Canton has it's Constitution, Legislature, government and courts. They would be responsible for Healthcare, welfare, law enforcement, public education and taxation etc. This is "True Democracy", where proportionate representation is taken into account, not the mobocracy of the West.
  10. Terrific news ... THANK YOU ... I'll be sure to check it out. Also will be watching for your work (Pixelhate)
  11. I've long been wanting to have a television mod where you can sit in your home and watch short clips or movies before you head out into the wastes again. You could have a Vault Tec station mod that still broadcasts political ads, normal ads, short clips etc. Here you could add your own stuff as well. The supposed lore technology should exist, I mean you've got robots, satellite broadcast towers etc. You could buy these sets from a new vendor or even Moira.
  12. Have you thought of a location yet ? Big Town is smack bang in the middle of the Capital Wasteland, Paradise Falls is to the north, Evergreen Mills to the East, and Cantebury Commons over on the far west. The only really empty area is beyond Evergreen Mills stretching all the way from Dunwich right up to the Enclave base. This area has a lot of places to explore but no place to rest, the alternate is from Cantebury Commons north to the Republic of Dave ... all empty. Perhaps, converting a building in the DC ruins itself is a good idea. What are your thoughts ?
  13. Why not just expand the vendors in Rivet City; One next to Flack & Shrapnel One next to the drug store One next to the Clothing guy And maybe one or two others at he far end of vendors. You already have the space and the setting, other than the "Eye Glass" vendor mod no one has really exploited or should I say expanded the vendors there.
  14. Have you ever wondered where the super mutant freed captives go ? I have, so after setting one free I decided to follow the character, the poor guy ran around the Capital Wasteland for hours and I'd have to constantly eliminate any threats to see their final destination ... but there wasn't one. So here's my request, why not create a mod that sends them to Megaton, Rivet City, Paradise Falls or even the Temple of the Union or even your home (whatever your choice). They must have come from somewhere right ? I'd personally send them to Megaton. On second thoughts why not create a prison and enslave them for yourself. Lastly, make them essential so that they don't die along the way to wherever they're going.
  15. Ok, I had the same problem with Zeta ... then I discovered that the .ESM wasn't ticked ... have you checked if the Anchorage.ESM is ticked ? I know it sounds simple but maybe it's something simple like this. If you're using NMM then go to the Plugins tab and see if the Anchorage.ESM is there if so, then tick it, if not then reinstall.
  16. Where did you ever get the idea that the citizens in the US have any power at all? We get a vote. That's it. We don't get to choose who runs. We get the choices of the lesser of several evils. Not to mention, that universally, once in office, our representatives, that are supposed to represent the people that elected them..... vote how their campaign contributors tell them too. The average american's vote is pretty much worthless. Yes that might be true and I agree on all your points, but let me clarify where i'm coming from. I'm, talking in the context of the power of the US citizen and their influence as individuals. If you check the long list of "The United States vs ................. ", you will discover the countless times that the average citizen (voter) has declared rulings from the Supreme Court and Congress to be Unconstitutional. Hence my remark that the government was going one way with it's Laws and regulations and the citizen successfully impeded or turned the "going" policy or law another way. This is why I stated that "the US is being held to ransom by it's own people", because the average citizen has the power to change existing Laws of governance. One such instance is the case of the United States vs Lopez. "United States v. Lopez: The Background The United States v. Lopez case was the first United States Supreme Court case since the early 1930’s to create laws that limit Congress’s power. The United States v. Lopez case begins with a man named Alfonzo Lopez. Mr. Lopez was a High School Senior in San Antonio, Texas. On March 10th of 1992, Lopez carried a concealed handgun into school. The gun was loaded and Lopez had five backup rounds of ammunition tucked away in his jeans. When Lopez was confronted by police and school officials, he admitted to carrying the gun. The very next day, Alfonzo Lopez was charged with violating federal laws which banned guns on all school properties in the United States. The law Alfonzo Lopez was accused of violating was called the Gun-Free School Zone Act of 1990. Alfonzo Lopez appealed his arrest by stating that the creation of the law was unconstitutional. Lopez claimed that the laws went beyond the power of the United States Congress; he believed that Congress was not allowed to create laws that essentially control the public school district. Lopez’s first defense failed; the court ruled that Congress possessed the authority to regulate activities that affected schools throughout the United States. Alfonzo Lopez was convicted for carrying a weapon on school grounds. He appealed the initial court decision and brought his case to the Fifth Circuit of Appeals. Lopez again claimed that the Commerce Clause was a direct violation of the Constitution to the United States. The Fifth Circuit overturned the original conviction by stating the charges and the law itself was beyond the power of Congress. In response to this decision, the United States government then appealed to the Supreme Court. The Government wanted the commerce laws to remain in effect. United States v. Lopez: The Trial In the Supreme Court Case, United States v. Lopez, the United States Federal Government’s argument was that the possession of a firearm on or within an educational facility would likely lead to a violent crime. A violent crime ultimately affects the condition of the school and the wellbeing of the population. Because of this, the government believed that the commerce clause should be upheld and practiced. In United States v. Lopez, the Supreme Court backed the previous decision offered by the Court of Appeals. In United States v. Lopez, the United States Supreme Court stated that Congress has the broad power to make laws under the Clause, but these powers were limited and did not extend to the areas of the Lopez case. United States v. Lopez took place on November 8th, 1994. The United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of Alfonzo Lopez on April 26th of 1995." Even though Lopez won his case and the government theirs to a certain extent their powers to rule unfettered were limited. Note that this was done by an individual and not a group. Take Vietnam for instance the ending of the war there was largely due the protestations of the people and not the "wise" decision of the government or any of the established political parties ... people power. Why do you think the oppressive regimes normally try to speak to the American public rather than the American government ... because of past experience, namely that by changing sentiment of the people the people will sway the politicians.
  17. @ Aonghus ... True, the United States does have the added advantage of being a Republic with a Constitution yet the problem enters when the government is pushed into a corner and is unable to govern due to the fact that citizens have so much power. I DO NOT want to turn this into a gun debate (that has been thrashed over a dozen times now on Nexus), but as an example ... if the activities of the citizens with firearms had taken place in another Democracy in any Western government there would have been a major crackdown on gun ownership and laws. In short, the US is a Democracy that is held to ransom by it's very own people. On the other hand Democracy can go over the edge, take Italy for example, it has 6 major political parties and dozens of smaller ones. The people are so polarized that no one party has a majority, how can this be good for any nation ? The way I see it, there is no perfect political system anywhere in the world and I doubt there will ever be one.
  18. How many times have you had to laboriously go through the motions when entering into dialogue with some character and just pressed through the dialogues as rapidly as you could just to get to the end ? Me to. so I was thinking perhaps a nice big red "X" to end the whole the thing would be simply brilliant. Sure many of the dialogues have "choices" with a specific result of what you choose, but for those that just bore you to death ... let's have a quick kill option. What sayeth thou ?
  19. Democracy - one man one vote - is definitely here to stay, even some of the worst nations practice this form of electing a new government. Democracy is essentially mobocracy. In a multicultural setting Democracy is no different than a dictatorship. Take Africa for instance, in a nation that has more than one "tribe" the largest one wins and dominates the rest, that is simply how it goes, check your history books. The US and Europe, and many of it's former European colonies don't really have the "African problem" and so it's a case of "policies" that that the various parties would use to attract voters, so it works in that context. However, as various ethnic groups increase in number in both the US and Europe they will begin to see their politics tip towards racially based political platforms. And as the numbers grow so to will the divide in those nations. Europe is already fast feeling the effect of "foreigners" in their nations and though their Democratic politics will remain their politics will become more Socialistic in nature.

    Syria

"Western military action in Syria would be a "satanic intervention against a satanic regime", a leading Syrian opposition figure has warned. Speaking to the Huffington Post UK, Haytham al-Manna, the Paris-based spokesman of the National Coordination Committee (NCC), said: "Our position is against any [western] aggression against Syria. There is no [option of] military aggression against the regime, it will be against.. the population." And "Manna added: "We are against the intervention in Syria of Hizbollah [and] of foreign fighters from al Qaeda. We cannot build democracy in Syria with others." Criticising the United States, Turkey, Israel and other regional powers, he said: "We are not In favour of a satanic intervention against a satanic regime." Quotes from the Huff Post UK Edition These are the words from a Syrian living in the satanic Western city of Paris. So why on earth is he there ... in the satanic West ? Why not go back to his fantastic Syria ? I'll tell you why not ... it's because the "satanic" westerners are the only people who are (dumb enough) in his eyes to grant him a place to stay and give him aid. That's pretty much how it always goes, the West is looked down upon but they're the only ones foolish enough to help. The "We hate you but will you please help us for now", type of attitude seems to be a constant ... and the West continuously falls for this type of rubbish. Let Manna and his ilk go back to "paradise" and fight their own "demons". Why on earth help them ... so that they can turn Syria into another Morsi-styled Egypt ? I wouldn't give the Syrian opposition the time of day. The West should stamp out all aid in any form to any nation that would harbour or foster any future springboards for terrorism against them. However, I'm not that callous to ignore Assad's use of chemicals against his own people and that needs to end. Also it should be noted that the opposition has pretty much done the same by using chemical warfare against the population of Syria as well. Let Syria sort out Syria.
  21. More than likely they were trying to fuse their alien and our human DNA ... trying to make some kind of mutation ... you know, their brains and our ability to live on the Earth as they were at a physically disadvantage. And of course they had some kind fetish thing going on with giddyup buttercup
  22. The problem of your "world drift" into the sun would be solved by some type of "anti gravitational" device ... something I'm sure the builders of your ringworld would no doubt take into consideration, if they were that advanced to begin to build such a world.

Better the devil you know than you don't know ... actually we know both ... so choose your poison. I've chosen mine ... Bashar al-Assad ... by far the best option ... with complications.
  24. Ancient Aliens ... my favourite comedy show. If you believe in aliens then I suppose you I could ask the question, "Do you believe in inter-dimensional beings ?" If your reply is "Yes", then I don't suppose that you would have a problem with the supernatural like poltergeists etc. etc., who are inter-dimensional. Isn't that "other-worldly" ? However, this would all be meaningless if you were naturally inclined to dismiss anything that you couldn't explain - like aliens ... lol. Anyhow, that having being said, I believe in aliens because I believe that inter-dimensional beings exist. There is so much that can be said from this angle "without" having to bring religion into it yet for the sake of the tender hearts I think I'll skip the time and effort to explain myself.
