  1. http://soundcloud.com/qwerty45230/sets/skyrim-burial-ambience I finished two recordings. One is Ghostly Moaning (with blowing wind to inspire the idea that the voices of the dead are being carried by unpleasant gusts) and the other is a deeper version of Ghostly Whisperings. Tell me what you think.
  2. http://www.howtogeek.com/63091/how-to-recreate-popular-effects-by-reversing-audio-in-audacity/ I (somewhat) followed these instructions to replicate the effects. I invented Norse sounding words (and maybe a little Latin, not sure) to use as a base. If you'd like more anymore, just let me know.
  3. This is the sample. Sorry I'm late.
  4. I'm going to bed right now, but I'd be glad to give you a sample tomorrow. In the meantime, try to find channels on YouTube of Burial Tombs in Morrowind. That's some creepy stuff even in vanilla.
  5. Formula for scary: * Atmosphere. - Replace standard fantasy orchestra soundtrack with silence, occasionally inserting garbled whisper or distant: - Moans. - Screams of torture. - Incoherent ramblings. - Crying, sobbing, and weeping. - Nord lullaby's (be creative.) - Tombs are dark, torches barely cover small radius. This goes without saying. - Writings on the wall: - Ancient Nord warnings etched in blood. - The ramblings of former explorers driven mad. - False or nonsensical directions. * Enemies - Create a near immortal, terribly powerful, but terribly slow moving (and attacking) enemy. Make them easily distinguishable from other Draugar (red eyes instead of blue and different armor for example.) Force the player to exploit nearby traps to stun and perhaps kill them. Always be generous with rewards. - Create an eyeless "bull" Draugar that charges with wild abandon in a narrow line at enemies (would need new animation.) - Create a Draugar with a Soul Gem in his chest. If the Soul Gem is not pickpocketed, the Draugar will explode (like Fire Trap) when killed. - Create dozens of unarmed, emaciated Draugar that are easily felled but spread some terrible, degenerative disease moments after their death. Also, they should vomit like the Afflicted. - Create an invisible enemy, only visible by the moans it makes when it digs it's claws into your armor. * Extras - A trapdoor that sends the player into a cell with another graverobber inside. A disembodied voice says they can have their freedom if one kills the other. The graverobber complies. - Insert dialog of a disembodied voice arguing with himself whether or not to eat to his dead companion. - Insert dialog of a disembodied voice screaming in pain as he eats his own flesh. Sweet dreams.
  6. @qw56q http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/topic/1576-workshop-05-acting-guide/ Read this, but let me say you have a good voice you just need to learn how to use it. Clear, easy pronunciation is vital. You'll also need to consider reducing the tempo of your voice either by reading slower or altering it via Audacity.
  7. I have several. An Imperial, a Nord, and a Breton were due to be executed by firing squad for banditry. The Imperial was first in line. As the soldiers strung their bows, he suddenly shouted, "Avalanche!" The crowd and soldiers both turned instinctively towards the nearest mountain and by the time they realized it was a hoax, the Imperial had broke his bonds and escaped with an invisibility spell. The Nord then prepared to meet his doom. Just as the squad took aim, he shouted, "Flood!" Again they turned towards the nearest river and by the time it dawned on them that it too was a hoax, the Nord was half a mile away. Finally, it was the turn of the Breton who had been impressed by his colleagues' cunning ruses and was determined to come up with a similar diversion. So just as the squad raised their bows, he shouted "Fire!"
  8. Spear Skill-book idea: A husband and wife were both keen swordsman. The wife was feeling neglected and wanted to know how much he loved her. "If I were to die tomorrow," she said, "and you remarried, would you give your new wife my jewelry?" "What an awful thought!" grunted the husband. "But no, of course not." "And would you give her my armor?" "No, dear, of course not." "What about my sword?" "No. She prefers the spear."
  9. I have an idea for a storyline: - Ancient Wizard steals the world's smallest Daedric Prince, Sizathor. - Crazy cultist sends Dragonborne to fetch tiny Prince. - Dragonborn finds Ancient Wizard he is then shrunk. - Dragonborn navigates giant dungeons, quests to reclaim Vial of Unshrinking, and regrows just after felling larger-than-life Mudcrab. - Dragonborn learns Shout of Shrinking from Daedric Prince Sizathor. - Dragonborn shrinks Wizard. - Dragonborn decides whether to spare the Wizard to spite the evil Prince, or crush him and earn his favor. - Crazy cultist offers turns out to be wed to Daedric Prince. - Hilarity ensues. Greatest storyline evar.
  10. Yes, I did effects for the Dremora's voice part only because I felt it necessary (though I have the original, unedited version if anyone's interested in hearing it.) I feel some parts are too loud and others too soft. What does the board think?
  11. Sounds like an ambitious project with loads of potential and there are plenty of resources you want to take note from. Like I said a couple of weeks ago when another person suggested this project: Christopher Paolini is an author with good taste. Just look at all the things clever references he's made to other Fantasy novels. http://aydee.wordpress.com/2006/12/17/eragon/ Why, if I were a modder I would be honored to recreate the world through Paolini's eyes. Good luck on your project!
  12. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/510123-weredragon/ Someone's already made a Weredragon mod though it's in the beta stages.
  13. This holiday I received Snowball USB microphone from friends, lucky me, and have begun experimenting with voice-overs for the in-game book Horker Attacks. I don't know why, but my voice isn't as buttery and smooth as I thought it was. In fact, it may be banned from airwaves lest the ears of our children sample the fruit of my toxic chords. So... what can I do to make my voice sound less terrible? I am currently not using a pop screen just yet, also I'm using Audacity to record if that helps. Edit: This link should work
  14. I've been wanting two-handed weapons to have their own charge attacks as an alternative to power, much like Monster Hunter. Hold the attack button (or middle wheel), charge a weapon and when the blade glows bright (and we have an audio cue) we unleash the attack. The two-handed sword would work on a standard timer, after three or five seconds of holding the charge you'd need to release. Two-handed Maces can be charged while moving but you suffer a movement penalty. Finally, two-handed axes would have the least charge time (around two seconds) and the quickest recovery (to avoid being in one place for too long) but as a result has lower damage potential with it's charges. All of these, of course, are interchangeable.
  15. It's obvious the developers wanted you to be evil from the start. With the Stormcloaks, Skyrim is for the Nords. With the Empire, Skyrim is for the High Elves. With the Dark Brotherhood, everyone dies. With the Thieves Guild, everyone steals. And with the Daedra, everyone's a follower. A wise man once said: http://imgur.com/r/gaming/Gasuw So, aside from quest content, there are plenty of things built in the mechanics that turn you into a killing machine I want to address. a) I want to be able to beat my enemies into surrendering rather than murdering them outright. I should have the option to spare a Bandit/Soldier's life when they surrender. There should be a system in place that earns the player bonus points (mercy points?) for doing so. b) Restoration spells like Curse -- transforming beasts or monsters (and maybe humaniods) into undead -- making them vulnerable healing spells. Exorcise to release the souls of the undead and anything trapped in Soul Gems (possibly gaining Mercy points.) An added balance would be to make certain Undead essential so we'd need to exorcise them in order to defeat them (like Red Skeletons from Castlevania.) c) Tranquilizing arrows to put to sleep routed enemies ensuring they don't rise up and attack you again or Illusion spells that do just that. d) Merciful questing options: it has come to my attention that potentially innocent people are harmed during the quests. While some circumstances may be impossible to avoid (the final mark for example) there are various examples of people you should be able to spare. For example, what if I agree with the principles of the Dark Brotherhood as a Chaotic Good Knight but dislike that I'm bound to always murder? Why isn't there an option to spare people that may or may not be innocent, telling them the Dark Brotherhood wants them dead, and telling them to hide. There will always be baddies to slay, why harm the innocents too? Here are a list of potential ways Mercy points could be applied: * Mercy empowers certain Dragon Shouts (Custom ones like AoE Exorcise or Curse). * Mercy empowers pious weaponry and equipment (Ex: Dawnbreaker). * Mercy empowers Restoration spells (Ex: Stronger healing, Wards, ect.) These are just some ideas I'm throwing out there.
  16. Morag Tong. How long has it been? Why is it seemed only yesterday when a young-faced Dunmer -- later to become Nevarine mind you -- accepted the task of public murder. Long was his smile as he dug his Daedric Katana into his foe be they resting quietly resting in their Yurt or shuffling through the marketplace. Sated was his lust and gleeful his thrust, but all the guards could do was walk away. Alas, the tale had to end with the duel between apprentice and master. A glimmer of Moon, a flash of Stars and the leader of the Morag Tong lay prostrate. "Spare me," he begged. The Nevarine was never known for this mercy and down came his blade. The master was no more. The student learned no more.
  17. Two things: * The level of detail you've put in the spine and head areas is excellent. * Those arms are looking a bit long, but again, if that's what you're going for then so be it.
  18. Why? That'd be a lot less convenient for conjurers. Why not give players special Conjuring spells that tell your summon who to target and what attack to use? That'd be the realm of Final Fantasy X. ...And :psyduck:
  19. He wants to know how to add new armor, which we can't until CK is released.
  20. Just a few ideas I've been peddling about though I'm certain have been covered in other topics. * Re-vamp Conjuration to require soul gems to summon Daedra or the undead and increase the duration of summons for up to three in-game hours. When said summon is killed they drop an empty soul gem of the one used to summon them or when a higher tier soul gem is used to summon, that soul gem is reduced a rank (Common soul gem to Lesser and so on.) Conjuration perks should focus on improving the abilities of our summon only (would like to see them use Afflicted zombie vomit from Pyryte Shrine quest.) * Restoration needs a Transform Undead spell (in faction only) so that healing spells harm enemies. This is a stretch, however, I was hoping the abilities and spells depended on a players fame, and had penalties depending on how high their infamy was. A player with more fame would have (at least Lore-wise) the blessing of the people thus posses stronger powers. For players with infamy, give Restoration perks that enchance (and spells that give) Absorb Health, Stamina, Magicka spells. Have a players infamy reflect the power of said spell (but not so much as to undercut Vampiric Drain.) * Enchantable staffs and scrolls for players to use during battle. I've always felt a Mage should use them to cast spells, rather than having pretty energies erupted from their fingertips like Emperor Palpatine. They would have much the same restrictions as enchanted weapons, and scrolls have the option of duplicating spells already in possession (at the cost fo mana as to not be abused) without sacrificing a soul gem. Those are just some of my ideas. What do you think?
  21. I'd love to see concept screenshots when it's finished.
  22. Let's face it. We have daedric gods and their mad, mad ways. Ancient civilizations vying for immortality and vanishing forever as a result -- leaving behind ancient guardians akin to future fantasy robots of steam-punk fashion. Would a gnawing, crawling, biting monster with a hungry for flesh be any different? Have we not seen the haunted red mist of Corpus infested dungeons? Or chanced an abanonded manor filled teeming with bloated Stalkers? The Draugar are undead you say? They, guarding their ancestor's tombs like statues or well-preserved jerky. One can always, always expect these monsters to crawl out from their crypts with ancient Nordic weapons and fights as they once did in life. Dead they may be, but zombies they ate not. How hard would it be to color blizzards brown like ash? How hard would it be to model monsters with gross tumors and large, bloated arms like hunks of lumber? How hard would it be to bring zombies back to The Elder Scrolls?
  23. I don't understand. Is this about rebuilding Helgen (which is still on the map, just in ruins) or building your own town?
  24. I can't help but notice that we already possess Scent of the Wolf perk when we transform into a Werewolf in vanilla Skyrim. Also, I can't see the usefulness of Pheromones. I can't help but wonder if Pheromones could also (or instead) attract nearby wolves as temporarily followers. That way we'd have a combat use for it. If you do manage to implement this, I'll be the first in line to download.
  25. You mean you plan to do what others have already done? http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2275 http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=870 http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=382 Okay, well good luck on your project. I just have a one concern. You do realize that we get Flames as our starting spell, correct? It's only going to hurt Mages early on if it has a higher cost.
