  1. Post your hardware, I'm assuming its a driver issue if disabling sound fixed it. Try updating your audio drivers, if that does not work then it may be that drivers you HAVE updated to are not working, so you could try rolling back. Could also be direct X. There's tons of answers, we need more info though.
  2. I'm assuming it has to do with a setting that determines light or shadow distance to load. Are all your settings maxed? I'm assuming you could use the Skyrim Configurator to change a setting to fix it. Theres some settings under lighting in the Skyrim Configurator called "Shadow Distance Interior" and "shadow fade" and a Off/On Setting for Torch Shadows. Its a powerful tool, but you really need to be careful using it.
  3. This isn't 100% sure, I just read all this on other sites, it seems no one else was having luck with this, so i dont know if any of this will work. You need to have one of them near you so its loaded in the games memory, then open the console and type save 1 This will open a notepad document with the formID of everyone and creatures loaded As far as I read on other forums, not all NPC's are listed in there, not even if you just interacted with them and are currently on screen. player.placeatme FormID # its not the referenceID you need, so that makes it more difficult to find, hopefully this helps somehow.
  4. As someone who has owned both, I have pretty strong opinions on them. The thing is you're going to find a lot of people who are going to be fanboys about either card, so its hard to get a real opinion. I've owned both throughout the past 15 years or so. I build a lot of computers, and usually tend to talk people out of Nvidia now. I had a lot of problems with Nvidia, I had a lot of problems with drivers, and I loved how when I switched I got updates all the time, often on release of major games. My friend is a Nvidia Fanboy, and wont use ATI, but he has had nothing but issues. He stands by Nvidia being better even though we both bought cards of the same level at the same time, and he had at least 25% of his games that wouldn't even run without finding fixes. After years he has finally decided he was being stubborn and is going to switch. Some people will go into Nvidia benefits with PhysX, but I havent really cared about it. I have no problems running it as software without the hardware aspect. I also should point out that I have had no issues with Skyrim and my ATI card, at any point, even from day 1. Actually I don't recall a single game that I have had graphic issues with, and I own over 200 games on steam. In the end, both cards are going to do well for you, no matter which way you go. A lot of it is going to just come down to personal preference.
  5. Have you had the quest to get the helmet from the Jarl of Winterhold? that needs to be done first. theres a glitch when you start certain quests before finishing others here. (im just looking into this for you, as easy as you could google it, since I dont have all the details I cannot be sure.) This was mentioned in one post to initiate the burial "player.setstage c06 0" another person mentioned this "Afterwords I had the same problem and saw that if driftshade was cleared then this will cause the error, and I had already done this. With little hope, I waited a month in the game and went back to the companions and it proceeded to the next quest without complication. Between the Helm of Winterhold being done first and Driftshade being cleared out seems to cause the problem for sure. But I have confirmed waiting for a month to pass in the game has fixed the problem for me. I hope it does the same for all of you." Waiting for a month would suck, but if it works for him, it may work for you. hope one of these two helps (on another note, there are mods to allow you to wait for longer periods of time so you don't have to keep pressing wait, just search the nexus)
  6. If you want to get rid of the perk open the console and type "player.removeperk 94eba" without quotes
  7. Mart's mutant mod. Check your inventory. Makes sure you don't have any live iguanas in it. If you do, Drop them. Eat them. Sell Them. Just get them out of your inventory.
  8. You can just press Ignore and it will continue on. I also read this, not my fix: "If you have the same situation where you have dual processors, simply do the following: 1) open your NVidia control panel 2) under the left waterfall menu, expand "3D settings" 3) select "Manage 3D settings" 4) in the right pane, select the "Program Settings" tab 5) for #1, click on "Add" 6) goto where you installed the GECK (for me, I put it in my Fallout3 directory), and chose the "geck.exe". 7) for #2, select "High-performance NVIDIA processor". leave everything under #3 as is, and click on "Apply" in the bottom right corner."
  9. I love both, for different reasons. I like Fallout 3 more for its story, its characters and the true feel of being in the capital wasteland, espically the element of all the monuments and government buildings that instantly add character. New Vegas has some better gameplay additions like Aiming down the sights, and the Companion wheel, Hunger and water system, not to mention feeling like you have more choice when it comes to factions, Then again theres mods for fallout 3 to add most of these things from New Vegas. If you want to immerse yourself in a recognizeable world that lets you feel like you are there, I suggest Fallout 3, if you wan't more gameplay benefits and factions, I suggest New Vegas.
  10. Im assuming you broke the quest somewhere along the line by not having him with you. He is supposed to tell you to go back there, its been awhile since I played so I cant remember exactly what you are supposed to do. There are ways to reset the quest if you are on PC. Backup your save, I won't take any responsiblity to you making a mistake. You can reset the quest or end the quest. To reset it: 1.Open the console and type "ResetInterior DriftshadeSanctuary01" (without quotes) press enter 2.Open the console and click on Vilkas 2. Type "Disable" (without quotes)and press enter 3.Type "Enable" (without quotes) and press enter 4. type "setstage c05 0" (without quotes) and press enter 5. Talk to him This will reset the dungeon to normal, refil it with enemies, it will reset Vilkas, and reset the quest to have not started yet. If this does not work you can try marking the quest as completed by typing "setstage c05 200" If neither of those work, then reload your old save, and let me know.
  11. Try turning down fade distances and see if it still happens. You can have an epic comptuer with Fallout and still have hiccups.
  12. The only way you can tell if its that mod is simply by removing it and seeing if the problem stays. It would be good to backup your save before removing a mod. if that doesnt work, this may be a stupid question, but do you possibly have limb damage? Check your current status where it shows if things like raidation are effecting you as well.
  13. Have you tried backing up games, uninstalling and reinstalling steam? If more than one thing is not working with steam I almost would think it is the problem and not games, although I have seen steam related issues caused by hardware and drivers. If you click the steam button in steam, and press settings, on the first page, where it says "Beta Participation" does it say you have 0 selected, 1 selected, etc.
  14. Ok so first off, let me know what your sound card is, a DXDIAG would be nice too, but if we can work on your sound card as a possible issue first, it may help, as others have had this issue and sound fixed it.
  15. Holy Hell! I just bought Evil Genius last week, and wanted to find games similar to it, and came upon dungeon keeper 2, finally found an online site to buy it and was playing it for the first time today, thinking "I wish there were more games like this" Suddenly I get wind of this....I think my mind is so powerful I somehow made this happen. You're Welcome people :) I'm going to back this big time
  16. This is going to kill me if no one can help. I've spent 2 hours trying to help figure this out for them, and can't find any similar issues.I've googled it all. I've given DirectX fixes, CyrusFyre reinstalled the entire game and all mods, i looked over CyrusFyre's entire ini file, we went through changing settings like reflections and water texture detail, CyrusFyre turned all the settings to different levels, removed mods, Drivers have been checked, Direct X has been checked, we even tried using the Nvidia Perf Fix from New Vegas. Mods are minimal, and as I said, were removed and checked... heres a really strange factor
  17. Well, sorry that didnt work for you, the reason is because it DID cure her of everything, but it does not include changing her eyes, and I dont know a console way to do that.
  18. I had that happen to a friends computer before and just turned of AA and it fixed it
  19. Find the book "Shadowmarks" on a table in the theives guild cistern. I had a lot of fun going city to city and using the shadowmarks to choose where I steal from. Shadowmarks
  20. I'm also thinking that one thing people don't always do when they uninstall is realize that all of their mods and their settings files (skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini) dont get deleted, so if the problem is with a setting file, it will stay after the reinstall since the install wont overwrite it (its created on first startup) Also, mod files stay in the data folder after skyrim is uninstalled.
  21. Okay, three people came into chat yesterday with this. I advised them to uninstall the NMM and reinstall it, both said that it worked for them.
  22. Who is it? Dawngaurd changes certain NPC's eyes. There are some Vampires in before Dawngaurd that didn't look like vampires, but Dawngaurd changed their look.
