  1. You are absolutely correct. But two million of my brethren and I were her target, so for me and others it is personal. Jane Fonda is our very own, very personal "dumb *censored*".
  2. You may rationalize any way you wish. If you want a Purple Heart for your MCRD boo-boo, I'll give you one of mine. If you wish to diminish my feeling, I cannot stop you. Just know that Jane Fonda worked hard to earn my hatred, and I cannot bring myself to disappoint her. I hate Jane Fonda.
  3. IDGAF if Jane Fonda apologizes for the photograph, Had you actually bothered to read and comprehend what I wrote, it is not about the folking picture. It is about Jane Fonda calling over two million service members "murders", "war criminals", "baby killers", and accusing them of committing genocide. It is about Jane Fonda calling the Vietnam Prisoners of War "hypocrites and liars" and accusing them of being self aggrandizing "professional killers". It is about Jane Fonda telling people it permissible to treat a whole generation of service personal with hate and contempt. It is about the blatant hatred and disrespect that Jane Fonda displayed for those who defended the very rights which she claims to be exercising. Finally, it is not about her politics or her beliefs. IT IS ALL ABOUT WHAT SHE DID AND SAID REGARDING THE 2 MILLION PLUS SERVICE MEMBERS OF THE VIETNAM WAR. She has apologized to forty. Jane Fonda still has well over 2 million to go. I hate Jane Fonda.
  4. There was a thread on Reddit a couple years back that mentioned a Fallout set in New Orleans. Hell I even contributed to it by commenting that having Lake Pontchartrain filled with Mirelurks would be fun and that having the French Quarter filled with Feral Ghouls seemed almost fitting. Was Bethesda testing the waters on reddit again? Who knows? That said, I will believe that a new game is coming when Todd Howard stands up and tells me that it is coming and that it "Just Works". 'Til then, I keep a lot of salt on hand; 'cause it is necessary if you ingest this kind of stuff.
  5. On second thought, never mind. I have removed all my comments. You and @zanity are a pair worth folding. If you want a serious evaluation of modding cycles, check out "modding dying?", as it has a nice set of statistics from Dark0ne.
  6. I can still here my very proper British Grandfather. "All persons are to be address titularly and by their family name. One does not take familiar liberties with another person without their permission. A persons given name is never to be used under any circumstances, unless that person has given you leave to do so. Unsolicited familiarity is in the poorest of taste and is an indicator of a low upbringing and education." I suppose that is why my Grandfather thought my American upbringing was "unsatisfactory in every imaginable way" and that I was "destined to serve your {my} life as a social pariah, as you lack the necessary social graces with which to navigate the world". Well grandfather if you are listening, roll over once more and keep that box rocking. I may lack social graces, but I compensate with excessive firepower.
  7. I hate people who freely throw about insults. "I dislike people who use the anonymity of the internet to behave badly." Now, since @TheMastersSon targeted me and my comments about Jane Fonda, let's do a quick fact check. Jane Fonda went to North Vietnam in July, 1972; not 1968. But I don't know what I am talking about, so you can dismiss my comments out of hand. Now, for a little edification; disparaging appellations are not a "choice of protest method". A choice of protest methods is an act of social disobedience, or a protest march or a demonstration on a campus or refusing to give up a seat on a bus or sitting at a lunch counter or drinking from a fountain labeled "for whites only" when you are not white or a walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma Alabama. Even going to Hanoi can be considered an act of protest. Insulting people is a personal act of aggression, verbal combat or a prelude to a fight. But like you; Jane Fonda choose to target people for insults, slanders, and libels. Jane Fonda choose to demean men and women who were forced to be in a place they did now want to be, doing things they did not want to do, for reasons they did not comprehend, on behalf of a nation that was incapable defending themselves and had requested international aid for that cause. Jane Fonda belittled people who did what their Government asked of them, performed honorably and returned home hated and reviled. Jane Fonda ridiculed people who; for the most part; had not been old enough to vote when their notice of induction showed up, because the 26th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America did not take effect until 5 July, 1971; just one full year before Jane Fonda visited Hanoi and posed laughing and joking with North Vietnamese Army soldiers on an Anti Aircraft Gun. But you keep tossing those insults about. The people who Jane Fonda reviled, denounced and castigated did so "to Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States of America". The First Amendment to that document gives you the right to say pretty much what you please. So enjoy the right Jane Fonda's "war criminals, murders and rapists" served and continue serving to protect.
  8. I missed out an a lot while I was doing the adult parent rat-race. But I do remember games from the 1970's that had really great stories. Not because you got a story via the game, but because you got to make up the story yourself. I speak of course of Colossal Cave Adventure. The best game I ever played.
  9. My memory and my history books also tell me that at the time of Henry Kissinger's 1971 trip to China, America was still involved in a war with the Soviet Government (NOT Chinese) backed Peoples Republic of Vietnam; AKA North Vietnam. Since the American government had no direct diplomatic ties to North Vietnam, a good number of historians believe that the trip was an effort to get China to act as a intermediary in negotiations with the North Vietnamese government. Since China was attempting to extend their influence into Vietnam and reduce the Soviet influence, and the Chinese and Soviet governments were at odds over Vietnam; China was persuaded to take the meeting. But it was China insisted on secrecy to avoid being seen as cooperating with the Decadent Imperialist West. Nothing sinister. Just diplomacy. And two years later, the Vietnam Peace Accords were signed. Have you ever heard of the "Rule on Unintended Consequences"? Trade and open relations with China occurred to get China's cooperation with North Vietnamese negotiations. Good ol' tricky Dick needed Chinese help to keep a campaign promise to get America out of Vietnam. The long term results where neither anticipated or planned. PS. I must disappoint again. Just as a test, I went back to google again and verified my memory via google searches.
  10. I like ladies that say "Thank you" as I am holding the door. In fact, I like good manners and courtesy, period. Human interactions are fraught with peril. Manners and courtesy lubricate the interface where egos rub together. I like the view from the top of Mt Whitney. I like the smell of leaf rot. I like the sound of rain on a metal roof. I like listening to the wolves as they hunt. I like watching my dogs wag half their bodies when I come in from the smoke house. I like watching the air turbulence caused by a round going down range. I like the smell of a sweaty horse, I like watching the quail running across the back lot and scaring the deer. I like the smell of wood smoke. I like the feel of a bow as the string snaps back upon release. I like the cathedral effect of a climax Red Cedar forest. I like being alive, free and still being able to enjoy both.
  11. Unfortunately, I think slowly, write slowly and generally make a thoughtful response. That my post is behind the current is too bad. It neither invalidates my response nor its conclusions. Nixon did not violate the law. Under the Constitution of the United States Of America, Article 2, Clause 2 - Treaties, the President has the power to initiate treaty talks with the leaders of any sovereign nation. China was and is a sovereign nation and Nixon was the President of The United States.
  12. There is a world outside of the 48 connected. It is large, diverse and contains approximately 7.4 BILLION people. But it's planetary geographic size and it population are no longer germane. Because the world is now only 13 seconds around. The world is small and getting smaller. Back to those 7.4 BILLION people. Half are poor, hungry and willing to work. It is unfair to blame these people because the American workforce had priced itself out of the world labor market. The consumers want more and more cheaper and cheaper. But these consumers cannot afford a steel mixing bowl that is stamped out in Philadelphia. The labor cost drives the price of that bowl up past the point where the folks that make it cannot afford it. Enter those 7.4 billion who can make the same steel mixing bowl for an eight of the price because the global labor force is happy with $3 an hour instead of $24. So the blame is in the mirror, and not is a Chinese sweat shop. About Americans being their own enemy. Here are some magic numbers. Average income worldwide = @ $1800/ monthAverage income in USA = @ $4400/month For a group of just 322,762,018 people. That group is less that 4,4% of the 7.4 Billion. So please tell me how the governing agencies of 322,762,018 people (4.4% of the worlds population) are able to dictate to the other 7.1 Billion (95.6% of the planets population)? They don't. Statistically, the American government regulates nothing. The majority of the world only laughs or shakes their heads at the hubris of the American people and their inflated opinions of themselves. Americans are the minority in the world; and until they realize that, they are doomed to continue thinking that their wants, needs and desires supplant the wants, needs and desires of the rest of the world. You want to see the problem. Look in the mirror.
  13. Some claim that it can be done. I followed the directions to the letter and none of the drivers ever worked for me as anything more that a keyboard substitute. But I provided a link above. Check it for yourself. Fortune Cookie PS. Cutting costs is not always the best route to success.
  14. I spoke for myself in all but one comment. That being "You have failed to meet the burden of proof necessary to convince us here that your position is valid." I will retract that statement when you can produce a majority here which accept your premise. Until then that statement is both truthful and accurate. As for my age, I am old enough to know that the internet predates cable television by a decade or more, that all radio frequencies (including FM) are and were regulated by the FCC. and that cable TV was and is regulated by the the FCC, I am old enough to remember that short wave radio (ham radio) was the only radio available more the 50 miles from a broadcast tower and that most stations had a larger audience when it was cloudy. I remember when television was just a single station and you bought crystals to tune your radio. I remember when people were afraid to touch a spool or electrical line for fear of electrocution. And I am old enough to know that fear and ignorance produce the most rabid and insane phobias and most are so far from reality that they cannot be seen from there. You should be old enough to know better.
  15. Quoting sources which contradict your theory does not make anyone a liar. Presenting alternative interpretations of what we read does not mean we are "shilling for Google". Not accepting your premise does not mean everyone is "deliberately ignorant". Expressing the opinion that some of your arguments make no sense does not mean that we are "intentionally misinterpreting" your position. Expressing opinions on demonstrated behaviors is not a "personal attack". Several here have provided ample evidence to debunk you claims against Google. You have failed to meet the burden of proof necessary to convince us here that your position is valid.
  16. I was gifted a DualShock 3 and used it for a while. There are a couple of so-so drivers and emulators, but they only allow you to map keyboard keys to PS3 buttons, do not support wireless use and are somewhat tempermental. There are also a bunch of 'how too' videos. Try this link. Just know that using a Sony gaming device on a Microsoft operating system is going to be a challenge at best. I don't want to sound like I am a MS Fan, but I eventually bit the bullet and bought a XB1 controller and the wireless adapter. It works perfectly, and is directly supported (no emulator required) in Windoze 10 and works with most Bethesda Softworks (all since Morrowind) games and other PC games which were released on both XB / XB360 / XB1 and PC. I hope this helps.
  17. When I hit this bug, I placed a chair near where the NPC needs to be and waited an hour. At the end of the hour, there he was and I put him onto the cycle. Wait 1 more hour and there he is at the soda fountain. Wait an hour and she is there enjoying a cool beverage. Wait an hour and he is testing the one armed bandit. Wait an hour and she is in the chair. Wait an hour and he is performing the exam. Wait an hour and the overseer shows up the end this charade. Cluncky and annoying, but it just might work for consoles too. Not satisfied with this, I tried again. IF the overseers desk is built on the ground floor AND is in extremely close proximity to where the experiments are to be performed, everything works just fine.
  18. Anything that is ranged, silenced, scoped and powerful enough to pop their heads off works for me. The Anti-Material rifle may be an obvious choice, but if you want effective it is about the best thing going.
  19. Might be worth building a wooden deck on top of the roof with some patio furniture etc ? I put the bar up there and assigned the VaultTec Rep to it. Figured as long as he is always there, why not.
  20. You are cruel. Funny, but cruel none the less.
  21. "Ah ... Clem." Don't worry if you don't get it. The reference is from an old (1971) comedy skit by The Firesign Theater which shows up on their album 'I Think We're All Bozos on This Bus',
  22. Visually, very appealing. My fondest wish would be to have a more granular search function with Boolean arguments, and a search within results search capability.
  23. I have reread this three times and I am still not getting it. So here are some basics and these are based on an 8 bits/byte architecture. a bit is a single 1 or 0.a byte consists of 8 bits.a word consists of 4 or 8 bytes (32 or 64 bits as in 32 or 64 bit architectures) - just an interesting aside for illumination.a kilobit is 1024 bits or 128 bytes.a KiloByte is 1024 bytes (or 8192 bits)a MegaByte is 1024 KiloBytesa Gibabyte is 1024 MegaBytesa Terabyte is a Gigabyte2Please note that the multiplier in "kilo" is actually 1024 and not 1000. And the multiplier continues to be 1024. Why? Because 210 = 1024, 1024 is close to 1000 and 1000 is a kilo. And finally, note the disparity in kb vs KB. A KB is actually only 8 kb. Is this what you where driving towards?
  24. I have no second thoughts about letting the adult Shaun perish. The child in the memory of the PC is that of a babe in arms. The aged ten Synth-Shaun and the old man claiming to be Shaun (no verifiable proof is ever provided) are strangers who may have some tenuous connection to the babe in the PCs memory. So to the PC, the death is that of a stranger; just another old man who may or may not be an older version of the babe he remembers. And yes, I left the Synth-Shaun behind and he got out anyway.
