I have a standard monitor but I noticed a rather nice increase in performance when I used a widescreen monitor resolution while playing Bioshock Infinite so I wanted to try the same with Skyrim and see how it worked. I went into the options menu and changed the aspect ratio and a resolution that had been tagged with [Letterbox] but it just stretches to every corner of my screen as if I had chosen a standard resolution. Is there a trick to doing this or is what I want not possible?

How do I set texture resolutions?
Biohazard186 replied to Biohazard186's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Re-compressing at DXT5 did it on the quiver. I'll do it on the rest and see how it goes. :3 Edit: Confirmed compressing at DXT5 fixed everything. Thanks for your help. ^^ -
How do I set texture resolutions?

Okay. Would I be editing the _d, _m, or _n file, or all of the above? -
How do I set texture resolutions?
Biohazard186 replied to Biohazard186's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Pic posted. I was in the middle of uploading images and editing the first post when you posted. xD The mod is this one: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34764/ -
Perhaps the question isn't accurate so let me explain. I downloaded a weapon and armor mod recently where the textures do no appear properly on texture settings below the highest possible. Instead the items appear covered in green and magenta pixels. The mod author seems unwilling or unable to deal with this so I'd like to take the opportunity to learn something new. So, how should I go about fixing this? This is how it should look: http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/images/34764-1-1365925852.jpg And this is how it looks if you're not running texture quality on high: http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p443/ImmortalNobody/ScreenShot57_zps0f4cf264.png

NMM bug fix release and download hacking problems fixed
Biohazard186 replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
In response to post #7636580. NOD32 would be my recommended choice. It's not free but very good. They update virus signatures daily. Others I've had in the past update weekly at the least. Since I got NOD32 I haven't had a single virus, even when visiting sites I know to be questionable. -
I'm experiencing a bug in my game and I have been unable to track it down. The bug/glitch/whatever is with the Dragon Damage enchantment on the unique weapon Dragonbane. Every dragon I smack with the thing is immune to the extra damage. I have uninstalled several mods (one at a time) to see if anything changes but nothing does. If anyone can tell me how to efficiently track this bug down I would greatly appreciate it. I'm linking my NMM InstallLog.xml for anyone who wants to look through it. Unfortunately it's so large I had to upload it to Mediafire because I couldn't attach it to my post or put the text in pastebin. >.< http://www.mediafire.com/view/?ka4x5rs2q4xyrcd

Tutorials WITHOUT "youtoob"
Biohazard186 replied to Allannaa's topic in Skyrim's Creation Kit and Modders
Is there no good tutorial for creating an exterior cell that can be linked in the first post (I say this assuming any tutorial linked has to have certain qualities to be considered)? -
Thank you both, I'll look through the resources you linked. (:

Adjusting shader effect to match a blade
Biohazard186 replied to Kellar21's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I remember looking at this myself once, though didn't get much further than that. I remember finding a setting when creating a new enchantment that suggested the effect would either wrap around the weapon like every other effect or it would follow the weapon like Dragonbane. I'm afraid I don't remember the name of the setting, though. Sorry. ): -
I'll let you know if/when it happens. xD

Help? I prefer asking people who know as opposed to Google searching since it's such a crap shoot.

I've found several mods on the nexus that add completely new environments to the game. I'm not completely new to mapping as I done a bit in Portal 2 but looking at Skyrim I'm thinking the process is gonna be a lot more convoluted. What program(s) do I need to accomplish this? And are there any decent/good tutorials out there? I've heard in the past that the CK is horrible for doing any kind of 3D modeling, is that true of mapping as well?

Yes, they can go in any order. And the only one of your mods that I use currently is UFO but there should be no conflicts with anything you listed. The only time you need to worry about conflicts is when you have two mods that edit the same thing (ex. one mod changes the werewolf attack damage and you try adding a mod that overhauls the entire werewolf). Otherwise you should be fine. If you have any doubts you can download BOSS and check for known conflicts that way.

To enhance the overall look I recommend the IMAGINATOR and DYNAVISION alongside Realistic Lighting with Customization mods. The first allows all sorts of tweaks to color, saturation, contrast, etc. Just play around with it a bit to find the color/lighting scheme that suits you best. The second adds a depth of field effect to the game. You can switch it between dynamic and static. I personally use static as dynamic tends to mess up, at least for me. Are you a vampire or a werewolf player? If you're a vampire I highly recommend Belua Sanguinare Revisited. Vanilla vampires are boring and more of a chore than anything else. BSR fixes that by allowing you to customize your experience. And instead of becoming a weak little thing when you feed you become stronger (should you choose to), gaining new spells and abilities for every level of vampirism you progress such as draining the blood of everyone around you, teleporting a short distance, breathing underwater and jumping higher. Likewise, as you gain powers you gain weaknesses (unless you change some of the options, for instance low level vampires taking more damage in the sun than higher level vampires (the default setting is the opposite of that)). That's just the tip of the iceberg, as they say. Alongside BSR I also recommend Vampires Shelter in Shadows. It's a little gimmicky but what it does is allow you to take refuge in any shadow to stop the damaging effect of the sun. Another good mod to couple with those is sOys Vampire Perks. It completely overhauls the Vampire Lord perk tree, making it more useful and worthwhile. Or are you a werewolf? In that case I recommend Werewolf Affinity. Like the vanilla vampires of Skyrim, werewolves are neutered pretty badly, though not receiving nearly as short a stick. Unless you use something like WereToggle you can only become a werewolf once a day. And aside from a few totems to change your howl's power, that's it. Werewolf Affinity works to change that much the same way BSR changes vampires. Once you progress a couple levels, or affinities as this mod calls them, you can change to and from werewolf form freely. You become stronger with each level and, as a bonus, you are fully capable of using the favorites menu as well as the character menu (unless you have Dawnguard as the key to get to the character menu is the same as the perk tree menu, remapping the key should fix that) as well as being able to loot bodies and chests, although you are unable to pick locks. You also gain several powers, such as the ability to infect NPC's with lycanthropy and call them to your side in battle after a day. As with BSR, there are drawbacks to balance this power out. The higher you progress in levels the more you need to feed on human or elven blood or else you suffer stat penalties. Neglect your bloodlust long enough and you run the risk of going berserk and attacking the first potential meal you come across (this is bad). To overhaul the werewolf perk tree, use Bloodmoon Rising. For a very well done armor/weapon mod inspired by the Dark Brotherhood, I recommend the Black Sacrament armor. This mod is constantly updated and the author has currently modeled it to be updated in chapters, each chapter presumably adding new weapons and/or features and/or armor. If you're the dark assassin type then this armor set is definitely for you. Another armor mod is the Dread Hunter/Huntress armor. It was inspired by the Demon Hunter armor from Diablo 3 and, with the advent of crossbows in Dawnguard, makes this armor fit right in. Deadly Dragons is a must have. Even higher level dragons in the vanilla game are way too easy to kill. DD remedies this by allowing you to increase/decrease the deadliness of each and every dragon in the game. It also adds many new dragons to the game. Crimson Tide overhauls the blood mechanic into something for visually aesthetic. Bodies will bleed out and wounds look better in general. And gone are the annoying blurry red spots on the HUD when you are wounded, replaced by defined textures that wont make you blink to try and clear whatever is obstructing your vision in real life (it sucks cuz it turns out there's nothing there!). The Dance of Death is a good mod if you wish the customize kill moves a little more. You can modify the chance that you'll activate a kill move as well as how often kill moves will be used against you. This is getting really long so I'm gonna stop here, even though I've got a ton of other good ones.

I'll admit your post confuses me somewhat but I'll try to grant your request. Mods for improving Skyrim's look: - IMAGINATOR (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13049) - DYNAVISION (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12525) - Realistic Lighting with Customization (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7654) <-- All parts of this mod must be last in your load order for it to work properly. - Removing Ambient Interior Fog (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9571) <--This might not have been a problem for you but I hated how foggy dungeons were. - Skyrim Flora Overhaul (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/141) <--Absolutely beautiful but I recommend having a decent computer to handle it all. - Towns and Villages Enhanced (Do a search, there's one for each major town.) <--Same as above, needs a good computer. CBBE Clothing: - Black Sacrament Armor (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5696/) <--Awesome mod featuring new weapons and armor. Constantly updated. - Dread Hunter and Huntress Armor (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21125) <--Inspired by the Demon Hunter armor of Diablo 3. Very nice looking.

I'm new to modding so take whatever I say with a grain of salt. That said, I don't think what you're asking for is possible. Where the weapon sits on your back (or hip for 1h weapons) is dependent on the weapon's skeleton and if you mess with that you might find that it looks good on your back but is completely messed up when you hold it in your hands.

You are quite welcome. ^^

I went through the same process recently. I'll link you to the thread detailing my process. (: [Link] Pay attention to post #7 because there's a link to another thread detailing the steps you need to take in NifSkope for this to work.

Ha! got it working. It must have been something else causing the crash. Thank you for the help, Perraine.
