For a main mechanical drive the Western Digital Caviar Black simply has no equal. -
Really high resolution monitor brands

The simple answer is post-processing. A tv can modify the source material A monitor can just display the material as it is provided by the pc. -

Really high resolution monitor brands

With monitors its difficult to see through the bulls*** sometimes. It's the same with response times 2ms might not really be 2ms, this is mainly because these values can be explained in different ways. If you need a new monitor just check reviews, forget the specs. This is going to be my new monitor. http://www.benq.com/product/monitor/xl2420tx -
There was a bug in earlier firmware. http://hothardware.com/News/Crucial-Acknowledges-Weird-5000-Hour-M4-SSD-Bug-Promises-Firmware-Fix-in-MidJanuary/ It has been fixed now but if you buy one with old firmware you need to update. I've updated mine two times now and it it really easy it just costs a CD-ROM.
-
Good choice, have you updated to the latest firmware yet? It is an easy process that only takes a few minutes, the drive will preform badly or crash if you don't have the latest firmware.
-
Automatic overclocking systems result in high voltages and high temperatures. Both the motherboard and processor lack proper cooling so this probably was the cause of the crashes the op described in the first post.

I was just joking about the extremely high overclocks and was just showing that celerons where quite popular with overclockers. The problem is that his motherboard probably can't handle voltage increase. http://www.msi.com/product/mb/G41M-P33.html. There is nothing wrong with the processor but the motherboard is clearly not meant for serious overclocking
-
Celerons are very good for overclocking. http://valid.canardpc.com/records.php

Very nice Do you notice any difference in game or with fps?
-
I just looked at the motherboard and would not recommend overclocking very far with this board. The powerfases are not cooled and could fail if you increase the voltage.
-
There is no software or program that can overclock. You need to go in to the BIOS and adjust the settings there. You might also need a new cooler for your processor, you can't get far with the standard one.
-
I don't think you can overclock very far. Your motherboard has a g41 chipset and probably wasn't meant to be overclocked. What is your target clockspeed? You know you need to change te bus speed that is currently set at 200mhz right? Try setting it to 205mhz and check stability and temps in windows. If it is stable add another 2mhz and check stability. Repeat this until your system becomes unstable then go back to the latest settings that worked and you have an overclocked system. Although I don' know if you will notice the difference, proccesor speed is more than clockspeeds.

I think you are close or over 128gb with the games and windows. You can also replace your optical drive with a ssd or harddrive.
-
The problem is that as the ssd gets full it gets slower, 128GB isn't a lot. I have about 40gb left on my ssd but this is on a desktop I move big files to my regular hard-drive and games are on my hard-drive to. So go with 256gb.

The standard watercooling kits are loud though and more expensive than the top aircoolers. I see no advanteges over a good aircooler. If you only have one 120mm outtake fan you block airflow I'm pretty sure asetek makes the coolermaster kits as well as there own.
-
Those are the bulldozer chips.
-
Why not the 3750k? these are newer, faster and less power consuming. You can only overclock the i5-2500k/2550k/3750k and the i7-2600k-2700k/3770k unfortunately, and you need a p-67, z68, z77, or z75 motherboard chipset.
-
Windows 7 What do you have against windows 7? I like it a lot better than xp, even my mother can use it. You probably can't run windows vista.

Yet another new PC discussion
Erik005 replied to dthompson32's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Socket 2011 is overkill for gaming. Look for a pc with the core i5 3570k. The gtx570 that you apperently have now is enough to run most games. The case you picked will not be able to cool this system. The z77 configuration looks good start from there. -
The processor and graphics card are good. The RAM is to much just get 8gb Maybe change the ssd to a samsung 830 or crucial m4

Help choosing new parts
Erik005 replied to KaosLosstarot's topic in Hardware and software discussion
The heat problems of ivy bridge only show when you overclock very high. On stock speeds or with a small overclock they preform better than sandy bridge and use less power. The asrock motherboard is simply the best value for money. -
