Celerons are very good for overclocking. http://valid.canardpc.com/records.php
-
Very nice Do you notice any difference in game or with fps?
-
I just looked at the motherboard and would not recommend overclocking very far with this board. The powerfases are not cooled and could fail if you increase the voltage.
-
There is no software or program that can overclock. You need to go in to the BIOS and adjust the settings there. You might also need a new cooler for your processor, you can't get far with the standard one.
-
I don't think you can overclock very far. Your motherboard has a g41 chipset and probably wasn't meant to be overclocked. What is your target clockspeed? You know you need to change te bus speed that is currently set at 200mhz right? Try setting it to 205mhz and check stability and temps in windows. If it is stable add another 2mhz and check stability. Repeat this until your system becomes unstable then go back to the latest settings that worked and you have an overclocked system. Although I don' know if you will notice the difference, proccesor speed is more than clockspeeds.

I think you are close or over 128gb with the games and windows. You can also replace your optical drive with a ssd or harddrive.
-
The problem is that as the ssd gets full it gets slower, 128GB isn't a lot. I have about 40gb left on my ssd but this is on a desktop I move big files to my regular hard-drive and games are on my hard-drive to. So go with 256gb.

The standard watercooling kits are loud though and more expensive than the top aircoolers. I see no advanteges over a good aircooler. If you only have one 120mm outtake fan you block airflow I'm pretty sure asetek makes the coolermaster kits as well as there own.

Those are the bulldozer chips.
-
Why not the 3750k? these are newer, faster and less power consuming. You can only overclock the i5-2500k/2550k/3750k and the i7-2600k-2700k/3770k unfortunately, and you need a p-67, z68, z77, or z75 motherboard chipset.

Windows 7 What do you have against windows 7? I like it a lot better than xp, even my mother can use it. You probably can't run windows vista.

Yet another new PC discussion
Erik005 replied to dthompson32's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Socket 2011 is overkill for gaming. Look for a pc with the core i5 3570k. The gtx570 that you apperently have now is enough to run most games. The case you picked will not be able to cool this system. The z77 configuration looks good start from there. -
The processor and graphics card are good. The RAM is to much just get 8gb Maybe change the ssd to a samsung 830 or crucial m4

Help choosing new parts
Erik005 replied to KaosLosstarot's topic in Hardware and software discussion
The heat problems of ivy bridge only show when you overclock very high. On stock speeds or with a small overclock they preform better than sandy bridge and use less power. The asrock motherboard is simply the best value for money. -

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=4_65&item_id=045425 Just the best CPU at the moment the core i7's are no faster in games. http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_559&item_id=048259 http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_559&item_id=048689 These are the best 680's cool and quiet, the 670 versions of these card are the best in their class to. -
I would not reccomend the 6950, the new 7000 series are faster and draw a lot less power. Look for a 7870 There are better options for the processor to, the core i3's or the old phenom II's are faster.

This is the best choice for a motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157296 Also I've had a HAF 922 and it is loud and doesn't have that much working space inside and worst of all it gets really dusty inside of this case. -
The new drivers didn't work for me either, same symptoms. I fixed it by reverting to an older driver.

The biostar motherboard you picked out also won't work with the core i7 you want. You need a socket 2011 motherboard for the i7-3820 These gpu's are a bit better than the reference models. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121638 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125423 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162109 -
You can also get a different brand of card, the asus DCU is very good or the gainward 680 phantom An oc'd reference model is not the best thing you can get.
-
I've seen several reviews of the new r4 and it's just stunning. The case to buy right now.

What kind are the specifications of your laptop? Do you have the 555m gt video card? because that should run skyrim better than 15fps. It looks like you are using your iGPU.
