Getting the most out of a large screen?
Erik005 replied to DrkSpde's topic in Hardware and software discussion
You could play with the scaling a little -
Why? the CPU is 100watts and the GPU 150 max. 500Watts is plenty

Graphics card recommendation
Erik005 replied to Ovennamedheats's topic in Hardware and software discussion
It is mostly about the monitor you are going to use, an AMD rx480 or nvidia gtx1060 are good choices for a single 1920x1080 screen. I think a 4k game pc is obvious. you need a lot of power for a lot of pixels, this is not possible with a single graphics card right now although the GTX1080 comes close And you have a lot of stuff in between now, I currently use a 2560x1440 monitor which also requires a more high end card. The computer store I was in yesterday had a lot of ultra wide monitors with a resolution of 3440x1440 these seem to be popular for gaming at the moment. -

The 32gb of ram is total overkill 16gb would be enough. Do you really need a sound-card?

Your computer simply is not meant for gaming, It should be able to run Fallout 4 at low but if you have a 5400rpm hdd even that would be a problem. In conclusion: I think you won't get any better on this computer.

What resolution do you use? You could try lowering it. What kind of hard-disk do you have?

Graphics card recommendation

If you want to stay with nvidia a gtx750ti would be a good choice. I have one running with a c2d E8400 and it runs pretty good FYI: the only real barrier I have hit playing around with this old system was the lack of AHCI on the motherboard which is not good for a ssd. I don't know if you really want to invest in this PC, maybe a core i3 update kit would be a better option. -

What processor and graphics card do you have now? -
The Noctua NH-U14S seems to be the champion at the moment. It might be a little expensive, in that case the scythe fume would be a good alternative

I've heard that windows ten has had some privacy issues so i decided to wait out for a bit. They also added the privacy things to windows 7 and 8.1

The ASRock Z170 Extreme4 looks good Do not go cheap for the motherboard and power supply. As for the case: I am currently a fan of Phanteks An ssd will make you a lot happier but you can add it later. Why not windows 10? You can get it really cheap in some places.

Cpu: The core i5 is currently best for gaming. Gpu: Neither with these games you can barely get by at 1080p, you need a gtx1060 or rx480 for a normal gaming pc Motherboard: Total overkill if you are not going to overclock the cpu RAM: Get the cheapest 8gb DDR4 set Power supply: Really a 1000 watts? with a 750ti a good 300w or 400w would be enough. You missed a case and primary storage and windows. The should help: https://us.hardware.info/pcbuyersguide/1037/budget-game-pc---june-2016 https://us.hardware.info/pcbuyersguide/1039/gaming-pc---july-2016

It certainly is a beast, but why no ssd?

The new Radeon card class coming out soon gpus
Erik005 replied to Thor.'s topic in Hardware and software discussion
If they fixed the micro stuttering it could be good card. I haven't seen any real evidence yet. -
The m stands for mobile and it is highly unlikely that you can successfully replace a laptop graphics card

At 73% load the CPU is not the bottleneck. A gtx 660 is a nice card for 1920*1080, but will struggle at 2560*1440. My GTX680 struggled somewhat at 2560*1440, my titan can of course handle 1440p easy.

It works for me on win 8

Radeon HD 7950 Boost VS. VGA GeForce GTX 760 4096MB
Erik005 replied to realBene's topic in Hardware and software discussion
That just doesn't make sense, the 760 is faster and cheaper than the 7950 boost. -

Erik005 replied to realBene's topic in Hardware and software discussion
It is not like it won't play games at higher resolutions, but you would have lower the quality settings. I don't think it has anything to do with the vram the GPU just isn't fast enough to run games at higher resolutions than 1920*1080. -
Radeon HD 7950 Boost VS. VGA GeForce GTX 760 4096MB
Erik005 replied to realBene's topic in Hardware and software discussion
From the reviews I've read, the 760 is a little faster but cheaper than the 7950 boost. Although it doesn't do well at resolutions over 1920*1080 -
CPU GPU RAM Frequency question for gaming.
Erik005 replied to gameboytj's topic in Hardware and software discussion
That is 1066mhz ram, which could be either ddr2 or ddr3 Old usually means expensive when buying pc hardware so a 6950 would most likely be to expensive for the performance you get. -
A problem constently occuring with Win8.

Have you tried an anti mallware program? Spybot is a good one. -
Gaming PC Build - Opinions?
Erik005 replied to EpicRandomGuy's topic in Hardware and software discussion
The power supply is overkill, somewhere around 600w would be better. Processor for gaming the 3770 is not needed, a 3570k good enough for gaming. Video card the 670 is better than the 7870 especially at that price. SSD is good, they tested it and it is not any less reliant than any other ssd -
AMD FX-9590 spotted 8 core 5.0ghz cpu
Erik005 replied to Thor.'s topic in Hardware and software discussion
You do realise this is a 220 watt processor right? This thing will get hot, I doubt that you can cool that thing with regulair coolers
