  1. The likely culprit is the connection between either the GPU and the PCB or one of the memory-chips and the PCB. A very demanding game might temporarily fix the connection because the graphics card will run hotter with these games. Ironically I have an old 8800gt which is known for having solder issues that doesn't work any more because the PCB sags.
  2. The only difference is the clock speed. The FTW is slightly more overclocked. Why not a 1060? over here they are the same price as the 960
  3. Or mini itx There even is a mini itx gtx1070. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=mini+itx+case&N=-1&isNodeId=1
  4. That asus laptop doesn't look like gaming laptop, it looks like a regular laptop with gaming hardware. It looks like it will run hot, very hot. which means it won't get the most out of the hardware. If you read the from the manufacturer section on amazon they actually say that asus envisioned this as an multimedia laptop
  5. How can you not install a graphics card properly? Unless you physically break something modern motherboard are pretty robust.
  6. I would get this one. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/VrH48d/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mzn5e500bw
  7. Yes the motherboard supports the Samsung SM951, these are very fast indeed
  8. As for the crashing, have you tried a different graphics card? It might be the card itself that has gone bad.
  9. Why? the CPU is 100watts and the GPU 150 max. 500Watts is plenty
  10. It is mostly about the monitor you are going to use, an AMD rx480 or nvidia gtx1060 are good choices for a single 1920x1080 screen. I think a 4k game pc is obvious. you need a lot of power for a lot of pixels, this is not possible with a single graphics card right now although the GTX1080 comes close And you have a lot of stuff in between now, I currently use a 2560x1440 monitor which also requires a more high end card. The computer store I was in yesterday had a lot of ultra wide monitors with a resolution of 3440x1440 these seem to be popular for gaming at the moment.
  11. Here you go. https://us.hardware.info/pcbuyersguide
  12. The 32gb of ram is total overkill 16gb would be enough. Do you really need a sound-card?
  13. Your computer simply is not meant for gaming, It should be able to run Fallout 4 at low but if you have a 5400rpm hdd even that would be a problem. In conclusion: I think you won't get any better on this computer.
  14. What resolution do you use? You could try lowering it. What kind of hard-disk do you have?
  15. If you want to stay with nvidia a gtx750ti would be a good choice. I have one running with a c2d E8400 and it runs pretty good FYI: the only real barrier I have hit playing around with this old system was the lack of AHCI on the motherboard which is not good for a ssd. I don't know if you really want to invest in this PC, maybe a core i3 update kit would be a better option.
  16. What processor and graphics card do you have now?
  17. The Noctua NH-U14S seems to be the champion at the moment. It might be a little expensive, in that case the scythe fume would be a good alternative
  18. I've heard that windows ten has had some privacy issues so i decided to wait out for a bit. They also added the privacy things to windows 7 and 8.1
  19. The ASRock Z170 Extreme4 looks good Do not go cheap for the motherboard and power supply. As for the case: I am currently a fan of Phanteks An ssd will make you a lot happier but you can add it later. Why not windows 10? You can get it really cheap in some places.
  20. Cpu: The core i5 is currently best for gaming. Gpu: Neither with these games you can barely get by at 1080p, you need a gtx1060 or rx480 for a normal gaming pc Motherboard: Total overkill if you are not going to overclock the cpu RAM: Get the cheapest 8gb DDR4 set Power supply: Really a 1000 watts? with a 750ti a good 300w or 400w would be enough. You missed a case and primary storage and windows. The should help: https://us.hardware.info/pcbuyersguide/1037/budget-game-pc---june-2016 https://us.hardware.info/pcbuyersguide/1039/gaming-pc---july-2016
  21. It certainly is a beast, but why no ssd?
  22. If they fixed the micro stuttering it could be good card. I haven't seen any real evidence yet.
