Which is a thing I never understood to beginn with. My strategy would usually be, not necessarily in that order: 1. pinpoint crash/bug/error/whatever with given tools (xEdit for example), and/or .dll with crash report support 2. go to Nexus find patch or fix if available, which actually has a 90-95% success chance for both, SSE and FO4 3. if no patch/fix available, fix it myself with xEdit or CK 4. if I can't blame my keyboard and apply subtle amount of violation 5. browse the comments on said mod 6. make a comment on said mod, asking if it is a known bug 7. if nothing applies, de-install for good The difference being: You have a clue. :) Collections are aimed at folks that don't. They don't wanna spend the time to mod their game, they want the 'easy' way, so, I really don't seem them spending the time to learn the tools to figger out how they just borked their game.

The idea is, the collection author will put together a mod list that plays nice together, including conflict resolution 'stuff'. Trouble is, just because it plays nice on one machine, does NOT imply it will play nice on EVERY machine. Also no different than the situation we have now. For the most part, a single mod that works for one player, should work for every player. (assuming they have the hardware to run it.) It's when you have more than one mod that things start getting interesting.

I would expect users that install a collection, and then go on to install another mod, ANY other mod.... and it ends up breaking their game, it is immediately going to be the author of the last mod installed getting the third degree. Of course, this isn't going to be much different than how things are now. :D

I think you are trying to use mods for Skyrim legendary edition, on the SE version.

But then you would be requiring them to have a social security number......... and where do they get one? From the government..... (I don't know if they are assigned at birth, sure weren't when I was born. I had to go to the SSA, and get one.) We ALREADY have the infrastructure in place for voter registration. Have had it for decades, it just needs to be more accessible. More locations, hours that allow folks to get their, without having to make any special arrangements, etc. This issue is a LOT like gerrymandering. The folks in power get to make the rules, redraw districts, etc. Both parties do it. Both sides use these methods to hopefully tilt things in their favor. Which has also been going on since elections were a thing. :) So, what's the solution? Really, there isn't one. Politicians, by their very nature, are going to want to stay in power, once they get there. They will use every trick in their book to do so, regardless of the ethical/moral issues surrounding what they are trying to do. Expecting politicians to do anything at all to make elections 'more fair', is like asking a scalper to stop gouging his customers. Just ain't gonna happen. And don't think this is just a racial thing either. The dems redraw districts so dems in each district are majority, or, as close as they can get, republicans do the same thing. Every couple years, districts get redrawn..... (mainly in larger population centers, don't think things have changed here in a century or more.) Race is only a coincidental statistic. This is what happens when you hand basic control over how elections work, to the people that want to get voted in.

Copyright. Sure, other authors violate the rules, but, as soon as staff is aware, those mods are removed as well.

Where I am, you register to vote at the same place you get your drivers license/license plates. They ask if you want to register, yep. This is the same place you need to go if you need a state ID, (as opposed to a drivers license....) They run on bankers hours. (9-5, m-f) Some are open later on Wednesdays. The 'appointment only' thing only showed up with pandemic, and getting an appointment is a tedious exercise, regardless of what color you are. Not to mention that appointments end up being scheduled a month or more from when you called. For a vote have any meaning, there MUST be some way to ensure that only those eligible to vote, are the ones voting. How else do you propose to do that without some variety of ID? Or, do you propose we just let anyone walk in and vote, in as many locations they can get to in a day?

That's from the news article. Apparently, some 'additional' information WILL be included with the 'list'. Does that include things like a bashed patch? I would think the whole 'conflict resolution' thing would require it. (also for things like leveled lists, etc.)

I'm aware, though I'm not sure why you feel the need to be snotty. People who play a modded game without ever having played the vanilla aren't likely to even recognize, let alone appreciate, the differences added by the mods. And when they're all added at once, they won't know which individual mod is responsible for what content in their game. If you mean the "Bethesda game" part, that was directed at someone else who complains about my focus on Bethesda games. Sorry if it came off as snotty. For the rest: Does it matter? If their game is improved, why do they need to know the specifics of how it was improved. If that interests them, they will seek out the information. Considering that this site started out purely for Elder Scrolls games, (original name was TESSource after all....) referring to beth games is actually pretty accurate. Those are the games that collections are aimed at. The represent the bulk of users here. I've already posted the links on myths about copyright, they include some about why Fair Use doesn't apply in this situation. Not specific to archive.org, but in general. Last I checked there is no loophole that allows them to violate copyright at will. I don't mean to direct this specifically at you, Arthmoor, though you do seem to be one of the few folks in this thread with some actual knowledge of copyright law. I do find myself wondering if these collections may qualify as derivative works - which would violate the author's rights unless permission were obtained. And Nexus isn't providing an opt-in feature that would provide an easy way to prove permission is granted. It isn't quite the basic list of favorite mods that Nexus claims it to be, but more like an anthology. The act of creating a load order, configuration, conflict resolution tools, etc. would require curators to at the very least use mod and/or filenames - which are also the IP of the author. You gave Nexus permission to distribute your mods merely by dint of uploading it here. There are no caveats on just HOW it is distributed.

so many posts, so many words, so much absence of anything insightful, original or worth reading. Maybe true, maybe true, Its weird that you think belittling others posts is the way to go here. You don't have to agree with me, I'm fine with that, but if you could offer up something insightful, original, and worth reading they might not lock this thread right away. That thing you and I are doing right now is called devolving, its not helping. In all reality, none of this is helping. Sure, folks are able to blow off steam, but, that is about the ONLY thing it accomplishes... Well, maybe along with gauging the level of interest in this particular topic. As this is the only thread I am aware of, that is available to anyone on the site, the number of folks posting here is quite literally, insignificant. Nexus will just sit back, and maybe watch, (haven't seen staff in this thread for a while now) and let all this blow over. Which it will. I suspect by august 10th, this will have become a non-issue, unless something untoward happens, and a majority of the major mod authors decide to pull their mods at the last minute. But, I'm not holding my breath on that. I fully expect a lot of 'nothing' to happen.

They don't, actually. Licensing a platform to distribute and/or display your content does not convey all of your rights in that content any more than licensing a copy of a game gives you any rights to the game's IP. Most social media platforms recognize this fact, and provide users the ability to not only edit their content, but permanently delete it. if it would be this way (social media owns...) it would mean one stupid or unintended upload can ruin your privacy, your job and your life permanently and nexusmods could say: sorry, you accepted our tos, not our problem. we all know this is pure nonsense and not legal at all. nexusmods steers into big touble if they do not grant an uploader the possibility to delete his content as a hoster for different legal reasons. a deletion option MUST exist for legal reasons! and it is not the responsibility of nexusmods to decide about that and to cut deletion options this rigid way if they do not want to get in severe legal trouble - as long as they do not have to save data to fullfill legal rules and regulations. but this is another story and another pool of data not in reach for users or collections. the problem is - this will be too late for modders who already nuked their accounts until the 5th auf aug. in the meantime i would say they did the right thing in time if they found a trustful place to upload their mods without this nexumods hassle. nexusmods currently isn`t this safe place. I would point out, that one stupid post from a decade ago can and HAS ruined a few careers. Folks are dredging up stuff some random guy posted 15 years ago, and the torch and pitchfork crowd are ready to roast him alive. Happens way too often here in the states..... I'm not so sure about the delete part in regards to social media. Their business model is founded on monetizing anything you post. I'm not saying that they don't sever the public's access to your deleted content, but I'd be very surprised to find out that they also no longer have access to it themselves. Not to mention selling whatever information they can collect from you. That's where the real money is. :D

Thing is, you need some flavor of ID to do just about anything here in the US. Wanna buy alcohol? Better have some kind of ID. Folks don't seem to have trouble getting alcohol..... so how is requiring an ID to VOTE 'onerous'? Yeah, during the pandemic, things got a bit strange.... MONTHS just to get an appointment to go to the DMV, but, I registered to vote when I changed my address on my drivers license. That never expires here. (voter registration) That was 9 years ago. I think closing polling stations, or, having very limited hours, is more onerous than the demand to have some type of ID. I know that kind of thing has been happening, and only in certain neighborhoods in some of the larger population centers.... I have ONE place where I can go and vote, and it serves the entire township. (roughly 36 square miles) Of course, if there are 10,000 people living in that area, I would be surprised. :) (VERY rural where I live.) I generally have to wait at most, an hour, to go and vote. Here in Michigan, we have different 'levels' of ID. I still have the basic box stock drivers license. Then we have the 'star' license, which is required to get on a plane, and we have an 'enhanced' license, that will get you across the canadian border. But, as I have no interest in flying anywhere, nor in going to Canada, my license is just fine for my purposes.

Not sure what you are asking there... Saving in the CK will create the esp file in your data folder for the game. If you want to upload it, you will have to zip the esp, and any assets up yourself. (7zip is my personal go-to archive utility.)

I think a lot of the difficulty is a recent development. Laws have changed on requirements for various ID purposes.... and it sure as hades hasn't gotten easier...... What's funny is, I was able to renew my drivers license, and plates on my truck, by mail..... go to some website, enter the appropriate information, click submit, and a few weeks later, my new license and tags for the truck showed up in the mail.

And that is pretty much what Nexus is expecting to happen. Some folks will leave, but, others will come along to 'fill the gap'. May not be the same type or quality of content, but, it will still be content. Which is what their business is based on. Given the utter lack of response from staff, I don't expect Nexus to change their minds on this.

Fallout 3 wants games for windows live.... which doesn't exist any more. I think there is a mod on here that circumvents it.

Uninstalling doesn't delete everything in the various folders..... Try this process.

I really don't think being forced to have some variety of identification to vote is that onerous. Darn near everyone has a drivers license, or a state ID. They aren't hard to get. (well, ok, during the pandemic its been fun..... but, that is not a 'normal' circumstance.) Claiming that this is some variety of 'racism' is just using the term to cause an emotional reaction. It's propaganda. That's it. I have to show my drivers license before they will hand me a ballot, why is that ok for me, but, for someone else, it's racism??
