  1. In all reality, after 200 years, NONE of the structures that weren't maintained would still be standing. Boston would be a forest by 2287 when the sole survivor poked his head out of the vault. Even around here, (and I have lived here for almost 60 years....) I see wooden structures that were abandoned, disintegrate into a heap within 10-15 years. After 20 years, there is a slight mound in the dirt, where the structure used to be. Aside from that, you couldn't tell there was ever anything else there.
  2. The climate IS changing. That is an established fact. WHY it is changing is what is up for debate. We have hardly scratched the surface on understanding all the factors at play. Humans ARE influencing the climate. That too is established fact. Sure, the climate changes for it's own reasons, at this point though, the human contribution is accelerating the RATE of change.
  3. Well what sort of phrases should I be looking for in the files? Completely clueless here Which game??
  4. Do not quote the bunny Do not make eye contact with the bunny Do not feed the bunny Shades of Monty Python? :)
  5. The staff not participating is a bold faced lie. I have seen them come in an explain things a few times, and then I have seen you all ignore literally everything they said while also some even going as far as insulting them. Sure it might not be a back and forth like you want from them, but that is likely because they know it's just going to go in circles, because it does. And that is still called a dialogue, even if they are firm on their choice and only responded once or twice. You blame literally everything on anyone who disagrees with you instead of actually being honest and just going back and looking to see who brought the subject up. But sure, it was me even though it was WileCoyote68 who brought it up. This is why the staff didn't bother going back and forth with you all like you wanted, cause this is about the level of conversation they would get from it. This is also likely why you all are not as convincing as you think you are, and instead it just comes off as if you are ... for lack of better word ... throwing a tantrum. The amount of disrespect some of you throw around is just beyond communication and is what makes things go in circles. Indeed, because humans have their habits and views that are developed by their environment. It's difficult to really change how someone thinks, or to get them to try anything different. I personally, think it would work fine in modding if it was just given a fair shot. And see, you just proved my point. Instead of commenting on the topic at hand, you want to run off on your tangent. Also, I can count the number of times staff actually responded to a question on one hand.... in a thread of over 100 pages. It ain't a lie. It is pretty much fact. It wasn't a dialog.
  6. A good story. Multiple paths to not necessarily a good ending. Not just 'go here, kill that, come back, collect reward'. :D
  7. Oooooo, thank you. I am going to have to try that. I have a few specific places the exhibit the disappearing walls and such. Fallons Department store, and I think the Med Tech building.....
  8. Is that after loading a game? Or, does it crash before you get that option? If the latter, that's a missing master crash. One of your mods wants another mod, that isn't there, or isn't installed properly.
  9. Gotta wonder about someone that wants to recreate a mod that has been in existence for years, that will do essentially the exact same thing, out of some 'fear' that the original 'might disappear'....... While, back here in reality, there is zero danger of any of the unofficial patches going anywhere. The team decided that they will stay here, and will continue to get updates. I really don't see that changing. HtR does bring up some valid points though.... Making a mod out of spite??? Seriously? Sure, invest a boatload of work into something that very few, if anyone at all, will use. The unofficial patch team already has a solid reputation, and are a known quantity. You, on the other hand, are pretty much unknown. (although, I think I actually use one of your mods. :) Thank you very much. )
  10. I agree, but ... well, in the case of recent events, there has been plenty of dialogue, and doesn't seem to be suppressed in a doctorial manner. Everyone had quite a long time to discuss things. Just because Nexus didn't change their mind doesn't mean there wasn't dialogue. You if consider something like this: Nexusmods: This is how it is going to be, live with it, or take all your stuff down. as "dialogue", then sure. Mod authors did a lot of discussing. What was conspicuously absent was anyone from staff participating. That doesn't meet my definition of 'dialog'. Valid point. Of course, bunny is absolutely notorious for dragging threads off on a tangent, that nothing to do with the actual topic. On Topic: No. Cathedrals do not exist, and so long as humans are involved, they cannot.
  11. Scroll down a bit. It's in the Files section. "Mod Request Forum". :D
  12. The FOMOD folder contains information for a mod manager to install the mod, and you get to pick and choose from various options. That's likely the best way to install it...... :D
  13. Oh, so what you're saying is that piracy isn't a big issue going forward, but a Bethesda problem from six years ago and which no longer exists is? Are you and BRabbit the same person? Wow. Where did you get that from??
  14. Interesting. :) I may have to go have a look. Would be even more fun to have synths use that entrance occasionally. Might make going in that way more interesting. :D
  15. The kids in Skyrim were a bunch of little brats. (so far as I know, the first beth game that actually included children. there weren't any in morrowind, or oblivion. I think Ma'iq the Liar even comments on that. :) ) The 'orphans' added by Hearthfires were better.... In Fallout, there just aren't that many kids... I don't see any with the gunners, nor do I see any with raiders. Settlers that come to your beacon are universally adults. (unless you have a mod that changes that....) I think the only time I have seen 'child settlers', were when they already lived at the settlement...... Beth doesn't do well with children. :)
  16. isnt that why god gave you eyes? The real issue associated with game versioning of mods is one of pirated/cracked games. Pirated/cracked games are frozen at a specific level and as a rule, authors do not support these games. The demand for "versioned mods" is in support of users of pirated/cracked games by allowing them to get the version of mods that worked with their pirated/cracked version of the game. Ignoramuses are continually getting banned because they post "stuff" like "I have the cracked version of insert game here, does this mod support version x.y.z"? Now, Nexus Mods has taken steps which support these pirated/cracked games, by preserving mods associated with specific game levels. Now, a game can be pirated/cracked at a specific level and the mods for that version are preserved in the Nexus Mods Archive. Mo money, mo money, mo money ... Not just pirated games are held from updates. For a while there, Beth was notorious for releasing updates that broke more stuff than they fixed, and there were numerous threads on how to prevent steam from updating your games.
  17. A 'windows' key?? :D Microsoft didn't come along until 1985. Long after the timelines split. Looking at existing in-game terminals, they all still seem to be DOS based. (6.22?? :) )
  18. It isn't the work of just one man. Correct, and because of that, it was decided that it would stay here. Along with a few others of his mods. I don't think there is any real danger of the unofficial patches being pulled from Nexus. Of course, at this point, there is zero danger of that, simply because.... they Can't.
  19. "Recoil" and "Laser" have never sat well with me. :D Why would a beam of light cause recoil??
  20. I'd have skipped the whole teleport thing. It would be a way more interesting game if you had to locate the secret surface entrance, fight your way through the beasties inhabiting the sewers under CIT, get sidetracked into other tunnels and caves, and finally get to the old Institute robotics labs where they created the robots and early synths needed to build the actual institute. That would be a huge amount of content that would be freakin' easy to make because they already have all the parts. And you'd feel like you actually accomplished something more than killing one courser. I keep hearing rumors about a hidden physical entrance........ but, have never encountered one myself. Even when I did an institute play-thru...... I like the idea. :) A labyrinth of tunnels/rooms, with one pretty safe path, and a whole bunch of rather dangerous ones. :D
  21. Problem becomes, there is no standard for versioning of mods, and a great many that are already here don't have version info at all. I think what would work though, is mod lists should indeed list the game version they were designed/built on. For some games, that is critical information, for others, not so much. I don't see a real good way to retroactively implement any kind of versioning standard either...... Many of the mods here, the authors are long gone. The older the game, the more likely the author isn't around. So, I think for collections, it will be up to the tool/list curator, to track that information. Keeping it current will be another kettle of fish. Games update quite a bit in the first year or so after release...... Are curators going to test their collection on new game versions as they come out? Such fun we have for the programmers. :D
  22. Before Skyrim SE, only a tiny percentage of buyers actually modded their game. Now, with console mods, it has opened up the field some, and yes, some folks did indeed buy the game, because MODS!! Is it a significant bump in sales? Only beth really knows. That said, Mods certainly contribute to the longevity of the game..... Folks are still playing/modding morrowind, some 20 years after its release.
  23. The intention is to support anything Vortex works with currently, so that's around 170 games  Of course as (to avoid the misinformation train) we'll be releasing an open API for other applications to use the system too. Ouch, that's a lotta code. :) Are you folks gonna try and have all that ready to rock on first 'public' release?
