Fallout 4 mods are all owned by Bethesda, according to the EULA
HeyYou replied to GlassDeviant's topic in PC Gaming
Oh, I fully expect to see the "your mod trashed my game", etc, threads very shortly after mods become available for consoles...... A fair few of those folks are purely console players, and have never dealt with modding a game in the lives..... They aren't going to have the faintest idea what they are doing, stuff a whole bunch o' crap into their game, and then its going to be the modders fault for making their game unplayable. :) Should be fun to watch...... -

:D Ain't that the truth. I suppose, they could have 'online' tools... You pick the mods you want in your load list, and there are tools on the website to make the patch that binds it all together, and then you download as a package...... Tedious, but workable. (especially for those that change their load order regularly) -

That's all well and good, but..... (and you knew that was coming.....) Console users are going to be shocked and dismayed when they discover that there are no utilities to make some of the mods they want to use, actually work together. I am REAL curious how beth is going to deal with that.... -

It's all basically meaningless, until someone actually takes it to court, and things get clarified. A 'strict' reading of the EULA (skyrim CK) would seem to indicate that ANYTHING you put into the game using the CK, beth gets full rights to, whether it is wholly created by you, or not. So, if they really felt like it, they could use whatever assets, in another game, or whatever, and not even have to mention your name. But, once again, it's all about interpretation. Until a judge says otherwise, that is what I assume it to mean. I really don't think beth would be stupid enough to try and take 'exclusive' ownership of anything released in a mod though..... Not that that minor distinction would effectively make any real difference at all. Of course, it might just be legalese so they can put mods on consoles. A workaround for 'official content', or some such. After all, they would 'own' it, so, they could release it to consoles. -
Didn't something like this already come up once in the not so distant past?? A 'female' athlete was discovered to have male parts?? Lol..I'm old enough to remember the East German Women's Olympic competitors.... Yeah.... Me too. :D

Well, obviously, if you don't like something, that makes you bigoted, or racist, or intolerant, or some other negative descriptor....... For example, a trans guy, (guy that 'identifies' as female, is being 'discriminated against', because school authorities wouldn't let him use the girls locker room...... So, he goes to court, and gets an order for the school to let him use the women's facilities.... But, wait, what about all the real girls in the locker room, what about THEIR rights not to have a physically male person in the locker room with them? This is a case of the rights of the one seem to outweigh the rights of the many, and I have SERIOUS concerns about that.....

This is precisely why "political correctness" really is a modern form of modern political tyranny, a method by which those in power can control the population. It sounds clever enough: we will discourage bad things like bigotry and eventually they will disappear! The problem is that the definition of bigotry changes over time and from person to person. It is an arbitrary human construct built, not from logic, but from human emotion. Some forms of hatred are perfectly acceptable (e.g. I hate Nazis!) and others are considered despicable. It is so far removed from logic that even objectively observable facts and legitimate scientific theories can be branded as political heresy and their advocates silenced. Most people look back on the witch hunts carried out in the past by the church and agree that they were absurd, even evil. Not nearly as many see the blatant parallels between those witch hunts and the ones that we have today. The new gospel is tolerance and social justice, and the new heresy is anything that deviates from that gospel. The old church ladies who gossiped about which of their neighbors was the least pious or most scandalous have been replaced by "social justice warriors" who will hunt down your employer and demand that you be fired from your job because you dared to say something that, to their ears, sounded intolerably intolerant. In the old days a person who did something heretical would be forced to confess and made to do some kind of penance. If they refused to confess they were tortured or jailed. Now you are forced to apologize (a form of confession) and if you refuse you will be punished through loss of employment or other opportunity. This is the great paradox at work: The more "tolerant" we seem to become as a society the less tolerant we really are. Tolerance, as it is used in modern jargon, is a code word for homogeneity, which is the opposite of diversity. Its all very Orwellian use of language to obscure what is really happening. Consider the recent stories about bakeries refusing to make particular types of cakes. If a baker refuses to bake a cake for a gay wedding because of their religious beliefs they are branded as intolerant and forced to go to government re-education (not a joke, really happened). If another baker refused to bake, for example, a confederate flag cake there is no backlash, and they may even be heralded as heroes of tolerance. No logic to be found, just emotion. One is bad, the other is good, and anyone who disagrees is just a bigot, and they can rest assured that they will be "held accountable" for their beliefs at the next Two Minutes Hate session to be held on Twitter and covered by the Daily Show. Short version: Our society is farking stupid. Problem is, I have seen the pendulum swinging in this direction for a while now, and it is only picking up speed...... I am real curious just how far it is going to get before something really serious happens...... Of course, the stupidity levels our government (USA) seems to be able to generate have been WELL off the scale for a while now....... I suppose I shouldn't be surprised when the populace follows suit.

d3d9.dll in ENBoost causing CTD - fresh clean install
HeyYou replied to JimmyS1985's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Will the game launch if you don't run the ENB? -
according to theory, when you leave one section, to move to another, it's supposed to save the settings. Do you get the "Saving" message at all?
-
Skyrim is tied to Steam, if the disk you bought didn't install steam first, then you have a pirate copy, and you need to go and get your money back.
-
Give it a few minutes, see if it finishes. (it should)

Dump Nvidia Experience..... that may be the cause of your issues. -
Change anything on your antivirus recently?

Check that the files aren't already marked as read only in the My Games\Skyrim directory.

The premise of tolerance usually works in the other direction, whereby the majority has to have 'tolerance' of the differences of the minority. People who are of the majority usually aren't subject to 'intolerance' since their actions and values are often the norm. It's a problem of modern civilization, where people are given the option of not assimilating to the dominant culture or face harassment or threat like the way things were done before when differing cultural groups were forced to cohabitate. There really aren't many ways to handle a situation of culture clash... Either the more powerful culture accepts and makes accommodations, or they forcibly impress their beliefs onto the weaker (or just commit genocide). Which method is best is a matter of argument. "Usually". Yeah, in a few instances though, it's a tad backwards. I see it as a precursor to societal collapse. :)

Stick it in,and try it out. Mainboard will run all ram at the same speed as the slowest ya got. If it can't figure it out, it simply won't boot.
-
And how about the intolerance of the minority, forcing their views on the majority, all in the name of 'tolerance'? That's one of my personal favorites.......
-
I would get a great deal of satisfaction from that. :)

Never underestimate the stupidity of your fellow man.......

Well that certainly explains a lot..... I always sucked at the whole sewing/knitting/weaving thing.......

The lobbyists will be against any law that that removes a 'free' commodity from their grasp. That, and there is no real good way to regulate data mining......

Yeah, they are pushing last gen hardware pretty hard there.... Wonder how many folks actually have systems that meet/beat those specs..... I don't have a 2gb vid card, so, I don't even meet minimum..... Wow.

Most of the ms tracking stuff is opt-in. If you enable the customer service experience, or whatever they call it, you send telemetry, if you don't.... well, you don't.

I disable third-party cookies, specifically so it is a bit more difficult for various advertisers to track me. That, and ad-block edge..... I don't see ANY ads. :) And it doesn't hurt my feelings one bit.
