I vehemently disagree. I don't use the manager, don't be depriving me of my manual links.

Bush the 1st was the main driving force behind NAFTA, and he tried to get it implemented before the end of his second term. Didn't manage that, but, slick Willy signed it into law anyway. I have no idea what made him think that was a good idea. Bush the 2nd came up with the brilliant idea of giving companies tax breaks for 'creating jobs in developing nations'..... I am not sure if he knew that was going to translate quite literally to "moving jobs to developing nations"..... He wasn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier..... so, I will give him some benefit of the doubt there. Trouble is, politicians KNOW this policy is BAD for american workers, yet it is still in place, some ten years later. You only hear about it around election season..... but that doesn't surprise me either..... Obama also signed into law (treaties...) free-trade agreements with Panama, Columbia, and S. Korea. Three more places where american jobs can go..... There was little if any fanfare, he signed it at night, behind closed doors, and never bothered to announce that he was doing so. There was a minor spot about it in the media, and then it kinda got lost in the shuffle. On purpose? Probably. Making a 'prediction' of some breakdown in any political party in 20 years is pretty safe....... odds are he will end up being correct. :) And if not, no one will remember that he said anything, or, they simply won't care. (and he may be dead by then anyway, so HE certainly won't care.) Expecting anyone in government to 'reform' anything is a pipe-dream. They have already more than adequately demonstrated that they have no intentions of reforming a thing. "Health Care Reform" is a shining example of that, it has nothing to do with health CARE, it just deals with forcing americans to buy a product from private companies..... I was real curious how that was at all constitutional......

The trouble with the repubbies is, they are too stuck on their platform, and outright refuse anything that even remotely resembles compromise. They are alienating the voter base with their religion-based views on a variety of issues.... and I really don't see that changing any time soon..... I really don't want to see the republican party fade from political significance though.... having the dems running the show would not be what I consider a good thing. We need balance in washington.... although, what I think we REALLY need in washington, is a good dose of common sense.. something that seems to be in extremely short supply there....
-
Oh yeah, the dems can see right thru the repubbies, and aren't overly concerned at this point, simply BECAUSE the repubbies are in such trouble with the general public. (I don't think the dems approval rating is much higher.... and I think congress as a whole is still in the single digits...... big surprise there huh?) I should think that the dems would be more likely to push for abolishing the electoral college altogether, rather than using the same republican tactics in other states... Not like it hasn't been tried before in the past though... Then it would just be a matter of getting out the vote, and EVERY vote would have equal weight.... of course, then the more populous states would see the lions share of campaigning..... Personally, I don't see that as such a bad thing......

And again, you are 100% wrong. -The companions guild quests only start IF YOU TALK TO AELA. Seeing Aela, and the companions, fight that giant on the farm does NOT, repeat, DOES NOT, just add a quest into your log. It is only added if you talk to her, which you do not have to do. -Innocence lost, AGAIN, only gets added to your quest log if you talk to a bartender about rumors. -the forswon conspiracy quest, AGAIN, ONLY GETS ADDED IF YOU TALK TO THAT GUY, and you can avoid him. That is real life, this is a game, having to program every single possible point in which you could betray a guild would take to long to realistically program. The canceling of quests, the alteration of scripts, and countless other coding problems make it unrealistic. Any and all points in which you can betray a guild have to be pre-planned for coding reasons. Delaying the MQ is nonsensical, delaying quests in general is nonessential, just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be added. Also, why do hey need to delay the MQ when you can just not do it? Again, why should Bethesda remove fast travel just because you dont want to use it? You dont have to do it, and thus, it shouldn't bother you. Your argument is nonsensical because you are asking for delays on things that you dont have to do to being with. You a programmer by any chance? I find it amusing that you think this "unrealistic", even though it has already been done for Oblivion...... I am going to assign you to the "beth fan-boy" section of my user list, which also happens to be my ignore list....... Have a nice day.

-The companions killing a giant in the field doesnt add a quest to our journal until you CHOOSE to help them and talk to Aela -Walking in the streets of windheld does not add a quest to your journal until you choose to walk over to the guard and talk to him about the dead body -Walking into the market in Markarth does not add a quest into your journal until you choose to talk to the vigilant guy, and choose to talk to the guy who starts the forsown conspiracy quest. Please try again, because all of the quests you mentioned only start when you talk to someone, not when you just pass by them. People who dont want to ride horses, or use fast travel, shouldn't ride or horses or use travel then. If you dont want to do a quest chain, you shouldn't do it. No, it makes perfect sense that you cannot destroy a guild once you join it. Joining a guild shows acceptance of what that guild does, you're given a chance to destory it beofre hand, if you dont likethe actions of that guild, then destroy them when you have the chance. mods are not the vanilla game, your point is irrelevant because we never were discussion mods. Also, there are people who ask for the removal of fast travel, simply because its in the game. If you dont want to do the MQ, then dont do it, if you dont want to fast travel, then dont do it. asking for it to be removed/delays is not only selfish, but it is petty. Not THAT is FUNNY. We quite obviously have some philosophical differences as to what constitutes "choice", and I can see that you are very set in your views. That's fine. You think the game offers you a 'choice', I do not. You aren't going to convince me, I am not going to convince you. Further debate is pointless, so, I am out.....

From what I can find, it appears that Maine, and Nebraska, already split their electoral votes by voting district. Supreme Court doesn't really seem to have an issue with that..... I can't see them taking this up if the republicans successfully get other states to start doing so. Apparently, it's perfectly legal. And yes, that method IS highly susceptible to gerrymandering...... Which is exactly what the republicans have in mind..... @sukeban: In most states, it is illegal to hunt with an assault style weapon in any event. Or anything with a magazine capacity larger than like.... seven... I think. (some pump action shotguns can hold more...) As for Adam, rifles in general aren't good for close-quarters, such as in a building. The pistols didn't have extended magazines either, they were standard capacity. (for the weapon.... yes, some pistols hold 15 rounds or more without having to have a longer mag.) I still haven't seen anything stating for a FACT one way or the other on just WHERE the assault rifle was for this incident...... Wonder if I called the cops there, if they would tell me.....

Some of the questions do not apply... hope it worked right.

I guess that also means paying no attention to any law including laws of physics... Sure... criminals can go get a 30-round clip from the Soviet Union if they have a freakin time machine. I swear I am glad not to be a news reporter. I would have probably just started laughing out loud if I was part of the press hearing something like this from an elected official, let alone even being able to keep a straight face. This just shows how misinformed and under eductated the right-wing is when the governor fails to even realize the Soviet Union has been dissolved for over two decades and even if the Soviet Union existed today they had very strict regulations on gun ownership far more severe than he probably realizes yet even knows... Rhetoric from the Right-wing is far more dangerous and misinformed than their own audience even realizes. The fear and hate pointing out from "criminal" will have "rights" that "Self-protecting citizens won't" mixed with the misinformation about the "Soviet Union" as well as not even knowing how strict their gun ownership laws were. This hardly seems very credible to claim this person so knowledgeable where criminals can gets things from or not... While he may have missed a trick on his geo-politics..... the rest of what he has to say is dead-nuts accurate. Passing laws ONLY affects law-abiding citizens. Of which, mass shooters most certainly are NOT. I would also point out, that left-biased media ARE INDEED selling fear. They are doing their best to portray assault weapons as the devil, people only buy these so they can go and shoot school children, when that is demonstrably NOT the case. They also can't seem to make up their minds just WHERE the assault rifle was at Sandy Hook..... I can find just as many articles saying it was in the trunk, or simply not mentioned at all, as I can articles that state it was actually USED to kill children. I note the local cops aren't really talking about that either... I don't watch ANY broadcast news. I got fed up with them when I started getting more accurate news from a friggin COMEDIAN........ Now THAT is Irony for ya. :)

Not true. You can pick up quests just by walking past two NPC's in conversation. You can pick up quests by having a courier FORCE GREET you, and hand you a note. Not to mention when there is a quest chain, finishing one generally automagically starts the next. There is no choice to turn it down, especially as relates to the main quest. I think you are cutting definitions too close. A simple "do it, don't do it" really isn't much of a choice, and if you choose the 'don't do it', the quest stays forever in your log. What we are looking for here is MULTIPLE PATHS to COMPLETE quests. Even if such completion is "Screw you, I'm going to abandon this one." and have it out of your quest log. After all, if you complete a selection of daedric quests... who gets your soul when you die? Or are they going to fight over it??? Some quests should exclude the possibility of doing others. And what of Aventus Aretino? Is the dark brotherhood NEVER going to answer him? Are YOU, not even a member of the DB at this point, his ONLY option?
-
Yes they do. You can see it every day in the news as relates to gun control. They use the same political tools as the repubbies, just from a slightly different angle. Neither party wants an informed electorate, if the average Joe had the slightest idea how much of our government was conducted off the record/behind the scenes by a few power-players (Lobbys...) there would be a demand for change, that could not be ignored. Why do you think our education ratings have been slipping? Stupid, uniformed, uneducated people are far easier to rule.

More than a couple states already split their votes in the electoral college in some fashion. It's perfectly legal. The supreme court would have no grounds to overturn the decisions. And if you read the 'rules' for said electors, there is no law FORCING them to vote the way their constituents told them to..... Nice huh? Personally, I think the EC just needs to go away. Candidates have won the popular vote, only to lose the electoral college..... The republicans pulling a stunt that will give them an advantage in the next elections really doesn't surprise me at all. What boggles my mind is, if michigan is such a dem leaning state, why do we have a republican governor, and state house? (I live in michigan...)

I have yet to find a community ANYWHERE that everyone agrees on everything..... It just ain't gonna happen. This place is no different. Your post is right on the money.

And you ignore the fact that you dont have to do any of to hose quests at all. -Actually, it was impossible to fail the MQ, there existed a backpath that could be used in the event you killed someone important in the normal MQ storyline. -And yet when Morrowind was released MANY people complained about how impossible it was to find items, such as the dwemer puzzle box, and complained how impossible it was to find locations because of how piss poor the directions were. In fact, I recall countless people asking for a quest marker on the map specifically because of it. Not to mention that you can turn off the quest markers in Skyrim and still complete the game just fine, and that Bethesda did that specifically for people who didn't want them. -Quest items weigh nothing, and shouldn't bother you unless you have some OCD, which is a fault of your own, and not of the game. Not to mention how many times people complained about losing a quest item because they had no way of knowing it was a quest item. People shouldn't be able to fail a quest because they had no idea the quest existed, you cannot punish people for not knowing something they had no way of knowing about. That is just simple bad game design. -Joining one faction only precluded the joining of another in the case of the great houses, and only because it logically would. There is no guild preclusion in other games because it doesn't make sense for their to be. No other province has a great house system, and due to the secretive nature of the Thieves Guild, and DB, the good factions would have no idea you are in them, and the Thieves guild and DB would WANt people from the good factions in their ranks in order to manipulate those factions better, so being in a good faction has no reason to preclude you from joining an evil one. Furthermore, even Morrowind let you be everything, as there was ways to get into multiple great houses, and you could join every single guild without consequence, so to say that Skyrim is in different in that regard, and thus shows some sort of dumbing down, is not only dishonest, but also disingenuous. Erm, yeah.... ok..... I know. Let's play skyrim, and NOT DO ANY QUESTS....... Sure, that makes good sense..... We obviously have very different views on what "choice and consequence" means..... I don't particularly care for your. And yes, In morrowind there WAS the back path, in case you screwed up, but, if you REALLY screwed up... end of game. Kill the wrong dude at the wrong point, and the game would tell you that you just doomed the world to destruction, and FORCE a reload. There were other quests you could fail as well, and the game would TELL YOU that YOU FAILED. Every little detail that you are arguing FOR, I see as a 'simplification' of the game. Yes, there WERE some vocal users that wanted to be hand-held all the way thru the game. I was not one of them. The level scaling, reduction of skills, and the quest compass.... that showed up in oblivion, really turned me off to the game. I played for 45 minutes, and quit, because there was no point to playing IN MY OPINION. Others found it great fun. After the release of FCOM, a major overhaul that addressed most of the issues I didn't like, the game actually became fun to play. Skyrim is just as bad, in a different way. The quest compass is Still There. It is basically impossible to fail any quest, (with a VERY few notable exceptions.) attributes are gone, there is NO differentiation between races beyond what you look like. Anyone can do Everything. There is no choice, there is no consequence to your actions. You have zero impact on the world. If Beth continues the trend, TESVI will have three skills, combat, magic, and stealth, no attributes, you can never be killed, or run out of magika.... and everyone can do every quest in the game in one playthru. Only thing that makes skyrim worth while for me is.... Mods. If I played on a console, I would have been done with the game a month after it came out. If it even took that long.

It's all a game. Women don't WANT men to 'figure them out'..... that wouldn't be any fun. :D Just when I thought I knew all the answers, she changed all the questions.

1. False, because other forms of media, such as books, movies, and TV shows, are linear, and only have one path, you can either watch/read it, or not. Where as in Skyrim, doing a quest or not still allows you to play the game. Not reading a book, or watching a TV show, just means you are doing nothing with that form of media, whereas Skyrim lets you adventure off into countless caves, ruins, and cities at your leisure. You can still play Skyrim while ignoring all the quests, you cannot still read a book when not reading it. 2. No, I was not referring to the game as a whole, I was referring to quests, none of them, outside of the Helgen opening, are railroaded onto you, becuase you can choose not to do them, and despite not doing them, the game still continues. But here is the thing, ever since Morrowind came out, the series has been branded NOT as a RPG, but as an action-adventure, open-world, RPG. Ever since the game that defined TES as something other then just another D&D fantasy RPG came out, aka Morrowind, the series has NEVER been market as a "many choices" game, it has always been marketed as a "explore a world/hiking sim" game. Also, the Dark Brotherhood is a guild of assassins who kill ANYONE, and everyone, they are hired to. Asking for a "I dont kill anyone who doesn't deserve it" play-style is contradictory to the entire stated purpose of the guild itself. Which is a no-morals, kill anyone we are asked to as long as they have the coin, type assassin guild. I dont play a racing game that says its about racing high performance sports cars and then complain that I cant race a monster truck, because the game was never designed for that. I disagree with your premise that the game doesn't railroad you. There ARE quests that CANNOT be completed, unless you join some other unrelated faction. (the Galdur Amulet for instance. UNLESS you join the mages guild, you cannot complete this quest) The game is set up in such a way that in order to complete the bulk of the quests, you need to join every faction/guild. Otherwise, you end up with a load of quest items in your inventory, that you can't get rid of. I have no interest in doing the bards college, yet I HAVE TO, if I want to get rid of some various items in my inventory, there is no option to "abandon this quest". Or simply not take the quest at all. Basically, the game is geared toward "completionists", those that want to do EVERY quest in a game. Some of the GLARING differences I see between Morrowind, and Skyrim.... In morrowind, you could actually fail EVERY quest. (but then, the world would end....) There was no such thing as a quest marker. The game did not lead you by the nose to each and every objective. Quest items weren't permanently stuck in your inventory.... you could sell them, drop them, whathaveyou, but then, if you didn't have the item any more, you couldn't complete the quest either. :) Joining one faction, would preclude the possibility of joining some others. (you could only be a member of one house. Or, if you played it right, you could be an honorary member of a second.) In my opinion, Morrowind was a MUCH better game, even given the era in which it was produced. Since then, Beth has taken the tack of "Let everyone be everything to every one." The games have become more and more simplified, with fewer and fewer real choices that make any real difference in the game world. I chalk it up to "We are more interested in profits, than actually producing a great RPG."

Interesting read. Wouldn't it be nice if we could get an exe that actually took advantage of multi-core processors? I would take a wild guess and say there are VERY FEW people playing skyrim on PC with a single core......

Where is the game installed? (full path please)

I wish they would get back to making REAL RPG games, not the action/adventure stuff they have been doing. Oh, and maybe being a bit more communicative with their fanbase? And how about crawling out of bed with Steam/Microsoft? I note that Live! only lasted for one game... what a clusterfark that was..... DO NOT make me install some third-party piece of crap software to play a SINGLE PLAYER game......

HELP :CTD at specific area (lover stone& reach camp & ragnvald
HeyYou replied to charles45699's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Try avoiding the area for ten game days or so. See if you can get there then. -
Simply disabling mods may not necessarily remove them completely from your game. Somethings like to hang around forever..... unless NMM physically removes files added by a mod, they can still cause some trouble. Might try uninstalling the last couple you put in there, and see if that helps. Your laptop actually DOES have the horsepower to run the game pretty well.

Exactly! Birthsigns don't matter, race doesn't matter. Any character can be anything. There is no advantage/disadvantage to any choices made during character creation. There is no differentiation in racial abilities or stats. Everyone runs at the same speed, everyone can carry the same amount of weight. Everyone has the exact same abilities available to them as they play, and gain levels. It is hardly possible to fail a quest. (and the only way you CAN fail, is on the VERY few quests that give you two choices..... (help this guy, or kill him.....) I think I can count those on one hand..... So far as I am concerned, the game has been OVER simplified. Sure, makes sense from a money standpoint... (which we know is what it is all about...) Morrowind was a REAL RPG, Oblivion was an action/adventure game with role playing elements. Skyrim is as well, but, has even fewer role-playing elements than Oblivion. I am not happy with the direction Beth is taking the games. I liked Obsidians take on fallout better than Beths'.....
