Need help finding a Morrowind Trader Mod
Hickory replied to patrick5988's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
I think you are looking for Vvardenfell Imports. -
First, clear out (back up first) your saves folder, then copy the one save back to the cleaned out folder. Now try loading and then saving in a clean slot. If that still crashes, you will have to supply details of any mods, particularly (but not limited to) OBSE mods, that have been installed OR uninstalled since the problem save game was made.

I disagree. While Archive Alteration works, it is inefficient -- it must be removed before applying official patches, and it must be continually updated when installing or uninstalling replacer mods. Archive Redirection is a much preferable 'use it and forget it' solution. I didn't know that. How does the redirection work? Oblivion's archive invalidation is bugged, and redirection uses this bug to fool the engine into processing a dummy .bsa file, rather than the official one (Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa).

If this were to be realised in some way, I imagine that the entire game storyline would have to be re-written alongside. I mean, the player character starts the game on death row for border jumping. Would the Nords do that to a child? That's easy enough to overcome with an alternative start mod of course, but how would the story progress with a child championing issues across Skyrim? Unless the story was ignored altogether, of course... or the imagination was stretched to the limit (hey, it's just a game). Personally, I think it would be rather... odd to roleplay a child doing all that hero/heroine stuff, but hey... the growing up part would be interesting I guess. But -- there's always a 'but' -- it doesn't take a genius to foresee the kind of mods that would evolve (or at least try to) alongside an idea like this, and I really, really shudder at the thought of that.

I re-installed through Uninstaller and deleted a programs files directory with all files, but nothing happens Uninstall the game again, but this time, before you re-install it, delete this folder: \Documents\My Games\Oblivion\ Now, re-install Oblivion, but choose a custom installation, and install outside of 'Program Files'. Somewhere like: C:\Games\Oblivion\ That will give you a completely clean installation.

Oscuro's is a very large, modular (optional) mod, and if it is not installed correctly it simply will not work, and may indeed crash your game. Did you clean out your Oblivion folder completely when you re-installed, or did you re-install over the top?

Oblivion freezes during beginning of the game.

Since you have only installed "a couple of mods", uninstall them (*not* just disable them), and start a new game with no mods installed. Check to see if the same happens with not mods before going any further. -
Clear your browser cache and cookies. If you still get re-directs, scan your system for malware with up to date antivirus.

Now you have it polished, remove it and re-upload it -- do not double-up. There will be no repercussions. Problem solved.

When you add the bed/s in the Construction Set you have to assign 'Sleep Markers' in the Active Markers window. Vanilla beds will already have these assigned, so assuming your beds are custom, you will have to assign them yourself. Double click on the bed in the CS, and you will see where to assign the markers. They are named 'Sleep 1' and 'Sleep 2'.

Check your Documents folder. Look in \Documents\My Games\Oblivion\ There should be a 'Saves' folder, and in it you should see your saves. Remember, that if you are using OBSE, there must be the usual Oblivion save file (.ess) and a matching .obse file, for example: autosave.ess autosave.obse If your saves are not there, or the Saves folder is not there, then there is something amiss with your installation.
-
Is this with or without mods? If with, please post your mod list, taken from Wrye Bash -- right click on the 'File' tab and select 'View mods...' and copy/paste everything, including spoiler/xml tags. And don't forget to mention any OBSE/OBGE plugins you have.

I'm having dropped sound problems.
Hickory replied to RepeatRepeater's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
No. Oblivion was made years ago, when very old versions of DirectX were the order of the day, and Oblivion ran as well then as it does now. It's your on-board sound card. -
And now it's possible you may find both accounts being banned -- multiple accounts and account sharing are not allowed. There is a procedure to follow, and opening new accounts, when you already have an active account, is not part of that procedure. Please be aware of this when you submit details to reset your password: This email will also contain a link that you must click for further instruction. You must also check that your mail provider and/or your email client do not block <@thenexusforums.com> as spam, or the email will not make it through.

Can't add custom cm partners? - game crashes
Hickory replied to VocalGoblin's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Do *not* trust OBMM to correctly order your mod list... *ever*. Use BOSS, and a Bashed Patch. There is no alternative. -
Clearly, since they worked before, you have done something wrong, or omitted something. What more is there to say?

There is only one way to solve the problem, and that is to read the installation instructions carefully. It's what they are there for.

Oblivion won't start now, problem with deleting mods
Hickory replied to JackGoff's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
If you are using OBMM, that application does not recognise ghosted files, that is why they are left over. The solution is to de-select 'Auto Ghost' in Wrye Bash. To answer your question: yes, delete them if you have uninstalled the mod. Making a new Bashed Patch will not include uninstalled, or ghosted mods. -

Hickory replied to RepeatRepeater's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
It will fix your *sound* issue *only*. The missing land mass is a separate issue, which it will *not* fix. As to wasting money, a dedicate sound card, as opposed to an on-board chip, can never be called a waste of money. -
And still, that tells me nothing. Sorry.

Oblivion won't start now, problem with deleting mods
Hickory replied to JackGoff's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
This is simple: in Wrye Bash, right click on Bashed Patch,0.esp and select 'File >> Delete'. Now, do not have any plugin selected, right click in the 'Mods' window and select 'File >> New Bashed Patch...' Re-build your newly created Bashed Patch. This is a known issue where Wrye Bash doesn't handle masters efficiently in a Bashed Patch. -
I'm having dropped sound problems.
Hickory replied to RepeatRepeater's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
I was thinking that with more RAM, I could maybe set iPreloadSizeLimit=104857600 and that would somehow include the sound files? I'm thinking this because I don't remember having sound problems before I turned on "shadows on grass" and "self-shadows". For what it's worth, the modified EXE seems to be a little faster and less "sticky". I was also wondering about upping the interior and exterior cell buffers for that purpose. Changing iPreloadSizeLimit will not help your sound issue, and that figure looks too high anyway -- mine (with 16GB RAM) is set at 26214400. Your sound issue is there because of a bottleneck in the processing -- your CPU is having to do most of the work, as opposed to a dedicated card doing ALL of the work (sound-wise). There is only one permanent solution, as I have stated. Does this mean I should install OBSE so I can install FormID Finder in case this happens again? Or can I just ad-hoc install it if I get problems? Also, will doing any of this corrupt my saves, assuming I don't use autosaves or quicksaves? Thanks, by the way, for talking me through this. Install FormID Finder if you wish, but that is ONLY going to help you to a degree. What you need to do is: Install, update and run BOSSInstall Wrye BashCreate a Bashed PatchLoad a known good save, and check for the missing land.Without conflicts, you should find none.
