LE Gather Materials and Build a house with them.
IsharaMeradin replied to heist5's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
someone else mentioned that problem in another thread, by their description it sounds like the associated script isn't there. Did you try the loose file version or the BSA version? -
Which version did you download the "loose files" or the BSA? Sounds to me that the associated script is missing.

depends on the changes you want to see. Without editing the race record you can have each race with it's own unique texture & mesh. underwear can also be made to be unique per race. Additionally up to 11 texture variations can be applied via the weight slider for an additional bit of uniqueness. If you want to delve into changing the race record then not only can you have the above, but you can also have different skeletons and even animations all unique by race. The only drawback is that while the races can be unique from each other, not much aside from any added weight slider textures and/or facial features and skin color can distinguish members of the same race. There are several mods that do the above to various degrees of effectiveness and most aren't compatible with each other. But the thing that is lacking is a good way to get proper fitting armor on to the NPCs. Compared to making sure that the proper armor is used, adjusting the game to have unique looks for the races is easy However, none of these mods have really taken off since they all require the user to manually install mods for each of the races.

windhelm dungeon -- enter the keep. go straight. when you get to the table turn right and go thru the closest door that takes you into an upper floor area which should have a few guards the dungeon is off of there somewhere without getting in game and looking I can't be any more specific. Once you talk to the mage again the quest will continue and you should get another chance at the killer.... do note tho that there are a lot of things that can break this quest: I had one game where after finding out it wouldn't start until I'd visited several times, I just went and skipped half of it by picking the lock, but didn't see the amulet and ended up screwing it up because I didn't have it when I did talk to the one quy. On the next try... a dragon attack killed the lady who was to be the murder victim for the last murder... so the quest was stuck because there wasn't anyone for him to kill.... Finally on the third try everything worked...

None of the Infinity Engine games will run outside of windows. @bben46 -- There's a blast from the past. Tutu v6 was never considered stable. Tutu v4 is the one recommended for non-English users. EasyTutu is the preferred version for English users. But all that is geared towards getting BG to play in the BG2 engine. To the OP Be sure that BG, IWD etc are installed outside of the Program Files directory. Those are definite games which will have problems when installed there, especially when it comes to mods. I have Window 7 64 bit Professional with a 1440x900 monitor and the games auto adjust to 640x800 with sidebars unless using the Widescreen mod. Windowed Mode works well too. I've not needed to adjust compatibility mode, nor colors. I do run as administrator with UAC off. Never had to toggle themes or the aero desktop off. I would suggest if the colors are smeared and things are illegible that perhaps, you should check your graphics settings in the graphic card controller and ensure that you've not made changes to the global settings which should have been made to affect specific other games. Failing that. This thread may or may not have some relevance: http://www.shsforums.net/topic/30840-ie-games-and-nvidia-series-8-video-cards/ I would also suggest asking in the forums at Gibberlings3.net (G3) SpellholdStudios.net (SHS) or Pocketplane.net (PPG). Tho PPG may seem dead it is not. However don't ask the same thing in all of them as there is plenty of crossover of members between the forums. You could ask the specific question and scenario in one forum and then briefly ask in the others with a link back to the big question in the first forum, that way you'll get visibility of all three audiences with a central place for response. You may want to include screenshots so that people can understand exactly what it is that you are talking about. Alternatively you could wait for the release of the Enhanced Edition which is supposed to combine BG & BG2 with new content as a single install. However that won't help with the other IE games... --- Retired BG Modder

Is there a mod that... Allows the hunter merchants to put the gold taken from your purchases into their pool of gold. Or is that not possible because the hunters are leveled unlike the regular merchants???

Vertical Shadow striping on Landmass and Rockfaces
IsharaMeradin replied to Dreaubaut's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Not sure if this is the same striping that you have. At the game start when waiting to create my character, the tower behind Hadvar had stripes on it. The stripes would shift when the rest of the shadows shifted with the normal sun position update. I solved that by adjusting fShadowBiasScale. This same setting also controls the shadow cast by the character when outdoor. At very low settings the shadow cast by the character is also on the character and can cause some ugly flickering as the body moves even slightly. I use a setting of 3 which clears up both the stripes on surfaces as well as removing the flickering from the character. Only drawback is a slight gap where the shadow doesn't meet the grounded portion of the character. If that's not the striping you are talking about then I've no clue... -
Scripting a container and an activator
IsharaMeradin replied to Angelbroke's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I can get you started on the right track, but I don't have your exact setup so I can't make something that will just work. Try something like this. Open your activator, add a new script, then edit the source code on the new script copy paste the below spoiler wrapped code Try to compile it If it compiles save the script then assign the correct items & containers to the properties save plugin test it out in the game -
Skyrim - "savepcface" Command Help

Some one else had this issue once, turned out that they needed to run Skyrim in admin mode. Once they used the correct permissions, the game wrote the file. -
Tutorials WITHOUT "youtoob"
IsharaMeradin replied to Allannaa's topic in Skyrim's Creation Kit and Modders
if there is a bsa file then there must be a corresponding esp file. Otherwise the game won't access them. there is an ini entry that could be adjusted to not require using the esp file, but I don't recommend that as typically the bsa content requires the esp content to provide the interaction in game. However for completeness sake... Typical usage is to just activate the esp plugin and the bsa content will be used, unless you have loose file versions from another mod of the same files used by the mod with the bsa, in which case the loose files will take priority over the bsa. When loaded the game looks for data in the following places. The first place with data found is what gets used. save game loose files plugins including bsa files from bottom of load order up to the top main game files -
What's wrong with face texture edit
IsharaMeradin replied to MonsterMonkey's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
The creation kit doesn't show colors properly nor does it render in super high quality mode. If you've done all the various maps, try seeing in game what it would look like on a character in the char gen window. There may be some settings in the SkyrimEditor & SkyrimEditorPrefs that might help the render image show in higher resolution, but there isn't anything that can help the fact that the CK doesn't show the tint layers in the preview (i.e the colors for lip, warpaint etc) -
LE Willing to compensate for mod work
IsharaMeradin replied to vinniewryan's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
To the OP as far as your displayed error. That is typical. Press Ignore and the preview of the NPC should show up. -
I've seen that before. It happened when I tried to change the height of the race that my character was part of. She wouldn't move just slide around like that. You add any recent mods that adjust skeletons, race records or anything remotely NPC related?
-
Might want to have Steam verify your game files. Follow this to get your game back to vanilla or stock setup. http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Troubleshooting Hopefully that will solve the crashing and get you back to playing.

Not all textures are uncompressed only the face gen data generated by the CK are uncompressed that I know of. Many other textures can be compressed.

Having the Falmer be Blind is Just Stupid
IsharaMeradin replied to David Brasher's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
For the topic at hand, both of you are getting a little bit off.... For starters, blind does not have to mean total blindness. Blindness can include limited vision too. Simply because nothing has been said by lore or the concept writers for the game about the specific depth of blindness the Falmer have undergone doesn't mean that they are all purely, utterly and totally blind. Each one encountered should be considered a unique individual. Perhaps those that are archers are those who can see something. Or perhaps they know of spells & devices that can give them sight. There are already several powers in the game which provide enhanced vision. Why must it be assumed because nothing is said that the Falmer don't have access to such a power as well? To simply close your mind off to the possibilities because the game does not provide a specific reason for their behavior is to put it bluntly wrong. One, it's a game which like a book is meant to stretch your imagination. Two, it's a game which means that unlike a book it is limited by the capabilities of the systems it is built for, whether that be pen & paper, computer, board or anything else. Three, it's a game for crying out loud!!! [sarcasm] Oh and just to prove you both wrong.... There are plenty of nooks with buckets, stools & reading materials obviously put in discreet places to give some privacy when relieving oneself. However, if you strip the undies from a stock character, they have no parts with which to relieve themselves with. One must obviously conclude that they puke everything back up... [/sarcasm] I'm quite certain that lore & the game are meant to indicate otherwise, but that fit in nicely with the 'blind' assumptions going on.... pun intended -
Another Crash to Desktop assist
IsharaMeradin replied to Timsierramist's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
There are more things being changed in the ini files when you change quality settings.... Keep in mind those high res textures are for lots and lots of objects. Many of which on ultra settings are being rendered way way far away. Each instance adds to the amount of processing power required to display etc... When you walk from place to place some stuff is dropping off behind you as new stuff is being rendered in front so it kinda stays 'stable' but when you fast travel you get a sudden demand for 5 ugrids worth of data to load up at once. With all those high res textures it becomes a problem. Personally, even on medium texture quality those high res textures will provide a better image than the stock medium texture quality. You could always take some screenshots with medium texture quality and compare those to any you can manage to get on high texture quality. Then decide if lower quality is acceptable. -

Another Crash to Desktop assist
IsharaMeradin replied to Timsierramist's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Some things to keep in mind Skyrim caps at 4gb memory and will crash or freeze when that limit is reached. Just cause you can play the stock game at Ultra maxed settings doesn't mean you can use those settings with mods. The more you add, the less stable the game becomes. Especially true with high texture mods & large game changers. tip: pick one mod you want, try it out and play around for an hour or so to ensure the game is remaining stable Then add in another mod and test again. When you reach the point of CTD, freezing or things just not acting right in game, BACK OFF Meaning decide to either remove a mod or reduce your game settings. Also, keeping your drive defragmented is quite helpful especially after messing around with mods. Sometimes purging your RAM with a third party tool or just rebooting the computer can help refresh things and make game play more stable. And a very important thing.... keep backup saves from before adding mods in case you want to remove a mod. hanging onto a save with old mod data inside can cause unforeseen problems later on down the road. hope that helps... -
before you can use the Amulet of Mara to have the conversation to marry them, you need to speak with one of the priests in the temple in Riften. After you talk to them, you get the option to buy the amulet. you may have to buy the amulet before any other amulet of mara is useable to initiate the marriage dialog.

Having the Falmer be Blind is Just Stupid
IsharaMeradin replied to David Brasher's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
maybe they are extreme light sensitive meaning that the brighter it is the harder it is for them to see. Thus those who have lived to tell the tale assume that the Falmer are blind because they had been on the surface when encountered. it's a logical explanation that fits game mechanics and lore :P -
Sometimes I read forum threads before posting. Sometimes I don't. LOL All the time... I use one particular gold ore vein between Silent Moons Camp & Halted Stream Camp I get ported forward and up by a good distance and make a non-lethal fall to the ground when finished mining gold from thin air.....

I highly doubt anyone will go thru the trouble of making a game save with the character you want as the playable character when you can easily do it yourself. You don't have to be familiar with the save game format to have the character you want as the playable character. Technically speaking, actors are objects....
