  1. Its actually, im pretty sure, an inherited bug from the vanilla game with the "dragonbloodfx.psc" script, nothing can be done about it except uninstalling some ofther mods ~SD
  2. The most indomitable? Is it not that humans will inevitably dominate one another? The human spirit is formidable, but there are physical, physiological and psychological TANGIBLE limits to what can be achieved by a human. What is infinite is abstracts, and what is abstract is how far the human race may subjugate itself. ~SD
  3. Dude you asked a question on the topic title "What is the most fundamental of humanity?" and then you went off into left field with this murder kick. My response to your query was survival with out which nothing else matters. The act of taking another's life is a simple choice of values. Is ridding yourself of a person justifiable for what he has or will do to you? Is doing so worth any possible penalty, if caught? Ethics and morals can and do exert psychological and cultural pressure on any decision when dealing with human nature. This includes the taking of lives and in some cultures, it demands the removal of life. In many cultures the value of a person is determined by their birthright or skin color or religious views or one of 1000 other irrelevant ways of separating human beings for human beings. Does this effect, in the eyes of the public at hand wither a person is murdered if they are killed or simply removed from life? My answer is, to them it matters more than anything, because to them, you are not human if you aren't accepted into that society. Does this fact mean these people are not apart of humanity? No, it doesn't but, the value of life is determined by the person observing it. That is not imo, in any way fundamental aspect of humanity. It is fundamental to survival and survival is the most important aspect of life and we can't have humanity without living humans. Thus, my answer. Survival. I actually did attempt to bring this back down to a tangible level by reiterating my question on page two
  4. @bben46; THanks for those hints, ill try to keep them in mind, I suppose I really wanted to have a philosophical discussion about why man acts the way it does and perceives both itself and its surroundings in such an acute and defined manner, my only point of debate here is that man is little more than a developed organism and that moral values are both incidental, and meretricious @kvnchrist; I don't think its that ethics and morals are fine in "developed societies", rather that developed societies strive with more endeavour to and have the resources to subjugate its inhabitants to a greater and much greater degree. Take for example Africa and its comparatively high crime rate and low resources with Sweden which has the exact converse. The terrible vitality of the human spirit is ever present, however, as resource levels drop, the relationship between said resources and the crime rate is actually recursive, that is, it decreases, which is not to be confused with the concept that it is not there at all. Furthermore, if you consider that the act of murder itself poses inherent danger to obviously the victim, but to also the murderer and also accepting that murder is NOT in self-defence and that justifiable homicide does not fall under any known definition of murder, then it can only be deduced that murder is of a person generally innocent in a contextual manner (two people who do not know each other may murder each other but are not necessarily deserving of it prior to the murder), the murder itself, especially in developed countries, further increases the intrinsic entropy of the murderer and also increases the overhead likeliness of incurred damages to the murderer and thus, is against one's evolutionary instincts.
  5. Additionally, I have conceived a paradox; if no absolute truth exists, then is not the statement "there is no absolute truth" an absolute?
  6. Relative truth largely depends on what constitutes "relative" are therefore, the ascertaining provision of relative truth is also dependent on subsequent interpretations of relative truth. Is relative truth the concept that nothing exists objectively? Is it the idea that nothing exists objectively to a subject? Is it the idea that not every thing exists subjectively, but truth is subjective? The concept that there is nothing valuable in truth other than the way it is interpreted? Depending on how relative truth is defined, or undefined will suggest the direction of how one may obtain "relative" truth. Absolute truth deigns that truth exists, but not in a way that is absolutely tangible to the human mind. ~SD
  7. From a legal perspective, murder is the conscious, premeditated (mens reus) and guilt execution (actus reus) of killing, the act itself rather than any other derived form. I suppose, yes murder encompasses a rather broad spectrum of vaguely prescribed terms, but generally, murder encompasses the act of killing another being who is sentinently aware of the concept of murder. Murder within society presides as an unnatural act of killing, not to amend or resolve, but an act of entropy for ignoble purposes. Legally, there is accomodation for concepts such as "justifiable homicide" and manslaughter. I suppose these are also simply derived forms of "murder", albeit to a lesser extent of severity as murder implies and is especially dependent of the "pre meditated" compartment.
  8. Life is almost totally dystopian in nature. We can attempt to forecast or otherwise effect our wills on it, but ultimately, life acts and behaves in somewhat comparably sentient manner. Thus, if considered arbitrarily and disjointedly, there can be no "total human rights". Take the westernisation of Africa, for example. Western culture has turned AFrica into one of the largest humanitarian disasters, and it's on going. It will be, and is progressively proving to be impossible to reverse the intracractable impact Western culture has had on the largely nomadic culture of Africa, thus, it is at least conventionally, if not fundamentally morally western societies responsibility to intervene. However, as further invention occurs, it has only shown that the increasingly mutable and permeable nature of poverty stricken societies can actually result in increasing the decline of these states. This is only one example of why it is not any ones responsibility to do ANYTHING let alone intervene under the generally abused proviso of "human rights". Social libertarians will tell you that all humans are equal. This is false, I come from a lower-mid class society and I KNOW for a fact that not all humans are born equally. Some are born with crippling diseases, other poor upon birth. Whatever it is, where ever, humans are never born equally, it is a simple inescapable fact of existence, there are shades of grey to responsibility and as our culture becomes increasingly progressive and contemporary, we are beginning to recognise this, albeit too late. In short; no one has ever been born equally and ever will be. Optimists will tell us that anyone can get anywhere with work, but this is a fabrication to invoke labour. ~SD
  9. I suppose scientifically, I do to some extent concurr with Vagrant0, there is no protoevolutionary purpose behind arbitrary killings, I feel that in essence, it has some inherent "survivalistic" aspects are contained within murder, but yes, in a temporal way, I do agree. I sense i'm moving away from the question I originally posed, however. It was not simply about murder, I suppose, when scaled about, it was about reality itself. To reiterate myself in a different direction, I suppose the question is truly, what sort of knowledge do you believe in? Solipsism? Fundamentalism? Subjectivism? Is it possible to know a particular act is good, based purely, and only purely, on the isolated knowledge of ones existence. Also, without any pragmatic application, is anything, based on one's knowledge of things, knowable and tangible and therefore reactable or able to be reacted to. How many of you know of the "event horizon theory". The concept it based on the scientific maxim that any 3D image can be projected on a 2D plane. Furthermore, it relies on the relative conceptualisation of "event-horizons" which are the theoretical upper bound within a black hole where no theoretical mass may escape due to gravity. Therefore, any information about said black hole is stored within the event horizon as all other matter and its accompanying information pertaining to the mass is annihilated. Thus, all information about the black hole is broadcasted within extrinsically from the EH. Stephen Hawking hypothesised, to some credibility as being discovered, that the universe presides within a black hole and we exist at the outer reaches of it, being broad casted with in. This would go to some way to explaining the perpetually expanding nature of the universe as it expands from the initial "bang" in a black hole way. It also accommodates for some modicum of a "big crunch". This theory can be proven on a subatomic level by measuring the transpondency levels of oscillating light between two very close very small spaces and measuring it against any linear inconsistencies. So, a bit off track, but, I highlighted this particular theory to illustrate something. IF indeed this hypothesis is true, can we to a certain extent of accuracy, be sure any thing happened at all? Can you be sure that something exists when not seen or presides is not immediately acted upon? The question is, what is the most fundamental, intractable, inescapable fact of humanity, if not that we cannot be, with ANY degree of any accuracy, that anything exists in any other way in any capacity, perhaps even our own existential consciousness?
  10. This is just a head up. Although not many people got on board with the original of this mod, I will haltingly and diffidently admit it was buggy as all hell. For anyone new reading this post, I wonder why, but never-the-less, I will basically outline what Vivae was about. Most of the settlements seemed empty, underused, or not befitting of their title. For example, as many of you will know, as these point have been succinctly covered in many other mods, Whiterun is NOT the trading capital it is claimed to be. Many mods add new buildings to area, not always enterable, generally unfinished, many add new NPCs to varying levels of completion. Here's what I propose to work on, a project I started on much longer ago but had to remove and abandon because of testing and time issues. A mod which, realistically, does all those things, to completion. The recent liberation of time had allowed me to continue pursuing Vivae as a project, working it from the ground up. I plan to TOTALLY redo all towns and cities, add more Inns to the wilderness (when I say Redo, I mean expand), add many NPCs, merchants, residents, perhaps small settlements to the wilderness, travelling NPCs, mercenaries (compatible with EFF), and eventually, new NPCs and the like to Solstheim. This will no doubt be a huge project, last time I spent over 100 hours and didn't even get Whiterun done, admittedly, it was my first ever mod. This time, however, i'm back with more time, experience and hopefully , more support. First release will be a while by which I hope to have Whiterun done and maybe some other smaller towns, i'll keep posted anyone who's interested and feel free to post ideas/suggestions/requests etc. Happy hunting and I hope this time, i'm more successful! ~SD
  11. I'm not quite sure what you're saying here, is it that murder is fundamentally wrong, as expressed by the impact on one's psyche, or it is a self actualized "deviation" from that which we perceive to be wrong? I largely consider human convention as an expression of ones own existential identity, rather than it be an axiomatically accepted thing. Murder is not apodeitically wrong. Evolutionism says that murder/killing is almost critical to the continual survival of any given population group, unless a parasitic relationship is formed. Say murder is performed in a vacuum, no convention, no psyche, no extrinsic ties to any other given sentient being, is there, in that case, anything integrally wrong with said act?
  12. PS, the hyper links on these ones screwed up, probably just copy and paste to access the directed mods!
  13. Have you checked the Nexus quests and adventures category, some really good ones there, some of them are pretty old, or their voting doesn't, IMO, reflect the actual quality of the mod. Never the less, here are some links  (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9782) - Moon path to Elsweyr By Muppetpuppet (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25704) - Wyrmstooth By jonx0r (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/40607) - Undeath By Antioch08 (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33108) - Adal Matar and the fight against the Thalmor I (part of a series) By MadFrenchie (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23087) - Into the Depths By GLArtmods (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/40914) - Conan Hyborian Age By PROMETHEUS_ts (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36843) - The Shadow of Meresis By Hebrock I've had experience with each of these mods and I recommend them. Alternatively, the mod "Interesting NPCs" by Kristakahashi (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8429) is one of the best all round mods, a bit on NPCs, a bit of follower, a bit of location and bards, and quests, a fair few. I strongly suggest this one, although not a specialized "quest" mod, still worthy of the title. Happy hunting, check out the "quests and adventures" section in the categories page on the Nexus!! ~SD
  14. A fair enough deduction, but creation is only positive is human context, progressive existentialism is only seen as progressive because as humans we are accustomed to the the edged linearity of time and dimensionality, what if one were to step outside of this? I suppose my question isn't "what does it mean to be human" but more that, why and what are the sources of our conventionalism?
  15. But especially if you're going to be playing around with texture and ENB mods, id upgrade, also, don't use the official HD DLC from Beth, its bugged as hell and terrible, go with the Skyrim HD one from the Nexus, its pretty good and modular too with multiple options for RES levels :) ~SD
  16. Upgrading the GPU is probably the most substantial, but potentially the most expensive, upgrade that one can make, I suggest though, however, upgrading, the 460 is fairly far behind, perhaps think about going for a 650? That's entry level, but would definately get the job done! ~SD
  17. Without sounding insane, consider, if you will, murder. The word murder is both an eponym and also, a verb. It describes an illegal practice, considered fundamentally wrong and also, against the ingrained values humans consider worthy of pursuing. Consider it though, in its entirety. Remove social bias', convention, definition and you are left with an act. A simple act. Now, moving away from the psycho, on a broader level, consider society. WHat is it about humans that causes them to act in ways that are deemed acceptable to one another. Murder and other "wrongs" are abstracts of our animalistic, primordial nature. Take away what is human, what is "civilized" and what is one left with? What part of humanity says murder is wrong? Rhetorically, it is empathy, morality, humanity. But moving again boarder, what aspects of humanity, of human existential purposes, are universal?
  18. Conceptually, one must consider that magic is an abstract. For example. Fire has as many uses for destruction as for life. It is complicated to say where the schools got their names, but I consider it much like this. The word destruction encompasses human knowledge of ones ability to effect certain manifestations on the physical world, but are not necessarily designed for destruction. Flames are a human concept based around a natural abstract: thermodynamicity. THe term flames and its application are purely of human conceptualization. Flames may be used to destroy, which is what humans have historically used them for (in TES), but are also restorative in nature (forest fires are actually GOOD for regrowth). It is the way in which one interprets an abstract that names it. Consider Mehrunes Dagon if you will. He is the Daedric lord of destruction. According to social convention and human belief, Destructive mechanisms are negative, yet, there is nothing in nature to suggest that destruction is "abject" or in discord with nature itself. It is simply another aspect. When contextualized, however, destruction, death, killing are inherently "human" bad, but it is their application and the way they are perceived that gives them this classification. Magic is an abstract, based on the casters power, it can cause any given effect on the physical world and is thus, only limited by the caster. The schools of magic are only attempts to classify the limitless and consequently, don't always align with what one may perceive to "make sense". ~SD
  19. These are some mods I really recommend :) - SkyUI (must have, best mod out IMO) -Skyrim HD project -SIMM -INteresting NPCs -Clothing ReTexture -Book Covers ReTexture Project -Climates of Tamriel -WATER -Enhanced Animations -AOS -SOS series -Sounds series (combat sounds, magic sounds) And then anything else you feel the game needs Eg Skyrim feels slightly empty so there are heaps of repopulation flavoured mods ~SD
  20. There's a thread somewhere about some Skyrim.ini edits that force the engine to pre render some physics and other features through multicore threading ~SD
  21. Good question. I suggest using a "Deep copy override" method, just google it. However, keep in mind, you may run into some issues, two items being in exactly the same place, or roughly the same coordinate can cause Z-fighting issues and havok issues. However, if you know where things are, you should be alright. You may have to do a tedious recopy though if this fails! ~SD
  22. It really depends, as you said, different kits serve different purposes. Obviously since you have a laptop, you'll want the portable version of whichever kit you're installing, how ever, there are some things you should consider before upgrading- 1. I have never pushed skyrim over 2gb of Max RAM usage. That said, I use mostly script heavy mods, but Skyrim does have a 3.1gb RAM usage cap, as expressed by Gopher. If you're running vanilla Skyrim, you definately do not need more RAM than 4gb, maybe a potential and provisional 6 or 8. 2. Only get more RAM if A) YOu are suffering RAM based crashes (low Resources) or B) you plan to use many high resolution mods (Skyrim HD project, SIMM etc) 3. DRR3 or DRR5? 5 is theoretically better, then again, you have to ask, do you need it. Last I checked though, 5 wasn't actually available, I don't know, maybe its changed, but just check its bandwidth and DRR status. 4. Bottlenecking. Most people, or at least a lot, say 'but I have 16gb'. Problem, 16gb is only useful if you have the accommodating specs to utilize it. Even in the case of optimal performance, being made on an old engine severely restricts Skyrim. THat means there are definite limits of how much of the system that it can use. The highest end PC will use as much as a limit hit Skyrim running PC, for example. Make sure you're GPU and CPU are up to the standards of a high end RAM set. That being said, i'd say go for it, I have mine upgraded and it fixed certain issues, however, consult an expert, for I am not that. I suggest going into your local PC store and asking about mobile RAM, however, keep in mind my tips because they probably won't have specialized Skyrim knowledge, just localized! :D Good luck! ~SD
  23. In response to post #9023993. #9024005, #9024017, #9024037, #9024107, #9024244 are all replies on the same post. How about just a goal bar, without the ransoming, deproved functionality etc?
  24. In response to post #9023830. #9023990, #9024271 are all replies on the same post. Id plus one this, I love supporting the Nexus sites and I actually dont mind ads, theyre not even intrusive IMO
  25. Im happy for the price to go up, personally, I wouild be happy to pay a price just to USE the Nexus sites, they're the best thing since sliced bread! Keep up the good work guys! :) ~SD
