  1. Yeah. If thats just a simple ornamental object like a vase you only need to copy the nitristripsdata onto the data part of the block details panel on the target nitristrips block. If you need to make a custom collision oject tho you have to do kindof a special process tho. I posted about that recently on this thread. http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=151835
  2. You should probably ask about it on fookunity forums. http://www.fookunity.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=59 Dont forget its a beta and they need feedback.
  3. This sounds like a great thing that you are doing. If someone has already done this they arent doing it right because a site like this should do everything it can to be well known at the nexus to attract anyone who is willing and able to provide quality material. I really love adventure mods and hope this idea of yours works out!
  4. Dont do all that! Just run fo3masterrestore and it will revert all your plugins automatically. you do it the same way you did fo3masterupdate with a command line argument or by renaming the exe file.
  5. No, I dont think you ever did install the armor fix because if you had that and the wrong body texture file you would not see the toenails on the shoulder. you might see invisible body parts or featureless tan colored body parts instead. go ahead and try the texture you want and see if it works fine. probably does. If not, revert back to the texture that was supplied with the armor fix. Or if you want to use your custom texture you can quite easily because all the armor meshes have had the uv map shifted over to the left. Just get GIMP free image manipulator program and install the dds plugin. Open the texture from the armor fix and you will notice that there is an extra body texture in the upper left corner, this is the vanilla body texture. Open up the texture you want to use and copy just the vanilla body texture to the upper left corner of your texture. repeat with the normal maps, they will be hard to see but just use the rectangle select to get the same part and copy it over. enjoy.
  6. It looks really neat! I never tried making a uv map for such a high poly model tho. My suggestion would be to make a lower poly version and use that for the ingame model. and you can use that one to bake a normal map to get all the neat details in. That way it would be easier to get a simple uv map for nice texturing and you can get better performance.
  7. How about you look around in the game and see if you find something you want to make your floor?
  8. First thing that comes to mind is fook 2. If i am not mistaken compatibility patches have not been completed for fook 2 to use with other large overhauly mods. I would not expect them to be released until sometime after fook 2 is finished with beta testing. But i really dont know details cause i tend to be patient about this kind of thing instead of watching pots boil. fo3edit is great tho. make the merged patch after you load all your mods on by right clicking on any one of them and select create merged patch. activate it at the end of your load order and enjoy.
  9. It doesnt need to be a custom race, just a custom armor for a specific npc, can be made umplayable. It would not effect rigging at all. Just make sure its not the right arm and that the npc only uses pistols. You can do pretty much any sorta that kinda cool stuff. like making a pegleg just make sure that the rigid part of the leg is only weighted to one bone so it doesnt look all bendy. well come to think of it, the reload animation would be strange.. how about make them only use a combat knife or something. EDIT: Silly me, i forgot about the hands. you could probably make an invisible glove to hide that part
  10. those are toenails not teeth. Its just because your using a texture made for roberts or breezes body replacers. There is a different uv map layout than vanilla, so you get that on the skin parts of your vanilla outfits that have not been converted to your body. I figure you could just extract the vanilla body texture and all the outfit nifs from your bsas, make a separate path for vanilla body texture, and set each nif to use that texture for the skin parts using just nifskope. Kinda tedious work wonder if someone has actually done that. Your alternative is to actually convert each vanilla outfit to the body mod. This would take more time and is also tedious but people would be thankful when you upload it. EDIT: These armor fixes have been done by the original mod authors. look for "armor fix" http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4719 http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3671
  11. 3dsmax cant open nifs either. you need pyffi and nifscripts. you really should go read some of the tutorials and stickys and stuff cause its all explained there.
  12. blender is free and it is a superb program.
  13. ok. well whenever i had flipped normals i fixed those in blender before exporting. you might try it in max.
  14. maybe it got corrupted or something.. you should make another archive and try uploading again.
  15. make sure you are using nifskope 1.0.20 mine has this option right between smooth and face normals.
  16. The areas inside of dc arent contiguous tho. theres nothing on the other side of the rubble if you remove it. They made it like that so it wouldnt lag your system.
  17. I have a couple of ideas. How about having a firing range wher you can test out your weapons. I always missed the targets in vault 101 that your dad has you shoot at with a bb gun. It would be nice to have npcs doing target practice also. More entertainment is also good. they have food and drinks but I would imagine such a town would have a betting cage where they capture dogs, radscorpions, and molerats to have them fight against one another. This might be hard to implement convincingly without some voice acting.
  18. what you need is a good source for public domain recordings. try here. http://www.archive.org/details/audio
  19. Im working on new clothes for the Children of the Wasteland project and I have plenty of stuff to do before the coming release. Im really interested in other things that can add flavor to the project tho, like pets and toys and other stuff. I was also thinking about collecting mini scorpions and ants or something.
  20. more mods then. try roberts or breezes male body replacers. they got toes and everything.
  21. Hi! Anyway lets try and get along and stuff. making good mods for the game is what this place is all about and ego clashing or whatevers going on does nothing to further that goal. Tutes are nice and all but they tend to become outdated. Anyone reading this should take note of the date and current version of niftools. Good thing is that it only ever is becoming easier to do what you want to do. Blender: 2.4.10 Max: 3.4 Maya: 0.6.1 NifLib: 0.72 NifSkope: 1.0.20
  22. I dont make lotsa esps except for testing stuff i make but I take it that geck wont let you modify esm files. Then you gotta use fo3edit. Click on the esm file and it should have a record header appear on the right side panel. on the top you can change the record flag from ESM to blank. Then the file should become a regular plugin again.
  23. Upload it as a modders resource and people will texture it, unless the uv map is completely screwed up.
