Wrye Bash 291 has been released. Use it instead of the multiple version dance that was previously required. However, BEFORE you install Wrye Bash, you must first install Wrye Python 03a. If your oblivion is installed in c:\Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 or Windows Vista - you will have permissions problems with getting Wrye Bash, OBMM, BOSS, and various mods to work. The recommended fix for this is to uninstall your Oblivion and then reinstall it in some other directory - such as c:\games\Oblivion.

Make Respawning Containers 'Safe'
Shadowfen replied to Daledge's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
You can also use one of the mods that add placeable safe containers such as Imperial Furniture, Imperial Furniture Renovated, or Specialty Containers. -
Can't get Wrye Bash to run.

You can force c:\python26\pythonw.exe to run as Administrator - but you would be better off reinstalling Oblivion to somewhere other than Program Files - this will cause problems with some mods as well if you don't make the move. -

You needed Wrye Python 03a (which has python 2.6 + a few other things), but the error message that you got originally implies that Wrye Bash itself was not installed properly as well. Since you should install Wrye Bash after installing Wrye Python 03a, maybe that would fix your problem as well. -
Something using OBSE is causing problems...

Cobl is not OBSE dependent either. -

No, there is not. Sorry. -
Where did Elsweyr: Anequina go?
Shadowfen replied to Yevgenii's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Why in the world would a modder hide his greatest work from the public? It just doesn't add up. I suspect it might be because she is tired of being harassed by people who cannot be bothered to read the instructions on how to install it and therefore do it wrong. At least that was what I saw in the forum posts. -

These are the mods that I do not run and I do not have your problem with the rat lady's house. Personally, I would start my testing by removing "B9 xulCliffsOfAnvil.esp". I did try out the mod but removed it because of bugs and what appeared to be dirty edits. Mod List: -
Yes, this was correct.

Wrye Bash default_bash.ini question

This one. -
I dimly recall it being a pet in one of the house mods - possibly one of the mage tower houses. Don't recall which one though.

I think that it is within the realm of possibility if you do all of the work up front instead of trying to make the game do it during play. It would require a separate utility that you would have to run on your save games and again on them before you start the game and load them. It would also be a save game editor/manager/merger program which would make Wrye Bash look like a simple "Hello world!" program. And it would have the inherent limitation that the save games thus produced would rapidly grow larger than the game would be able to successfully load. You'd probably have to have a mod as well to add conditionals to quests so that they could be locked to the first player to start them. Sadly, it's not very likely that someone will write this save game merger from Oblivion realms. I've always wished for the much simpler save game editor that would be like TES4Edit so that I could hand-fix broken savegames that nothing else will help... Noone's writing that one either. :(

That could by why your game is crashing while trying to start.

There is a mod that allows you to buy chests that are "name-able" in a limited fashion (i.e. choices from a menu). You can have Blade chests, Blunt chests, Armor chests, etcetera. Check out Specialty Containers mod. It also allows you to place chests where you want to (and even stack them <g>).

After I reloaded my computer (due to harddrive failure), I loaded up oblivion and found that I could hear some sounds but not other sounds - in particular, the sounds that were missing were the lockpicking tumblers and sounds in the inventory. After a great deal of poking at the game and loading different sound mods, I finally stumbled across the reason for my problem - my computer thought that I had surround sound speakers, and I didn't. Once I set the system for only the two speakers that I had, sounds all worked properly. Something for you to check and see if it applies to you...

I actually mean't a list of the quests in the Kvatch rebuilt mod. In no particular order: • The Roar of Blood • Arena • Sticks and Stones • Blood On The Road • Falling Flowers • From The Shadows • From The Shadows – A Knife In The Dark • A Sanguine Howl • Hero For Posterity

At the least, you probably need the "Villages - Cheydinhal Falls Patch" to allow UL and Villages to peacefully coexist. You might need other UL patches for some of your other mods as well. Check here.

Remove your My Documents version of the oblivion.ini. If that does not work, try reinstalling the HUDStatusBars mod. Don't know if these will help or not... hope so.

Stupid question perhaps, but I have to ask it. Are you starting the game with the OBSE Launcher (or something else like OBMM or Wrye Bash that can call it)?

Graphics/Video settings auto-adjusting?
Shadowfen replied to Archista's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
If you are running the Streamline mod - that is what it is designed to do... -
Here's what I found on Google: Bink32.dll - Missing Binkw32.dll OBSE is known to not work with no-cd cracks. The website above also offer an underpowered video card as a less common cause.
-
What version of DirectX are you running? I dimly recall having to fiddle with that too after I reinstalled.
-
Did you remember to start oblivion without the OBSE launcher first so that it could create its ini file settings (and allow you to change the video capability if it does not recognize your graphics card)? I forgot to do that when I replaced my harddrives and suffered through incredibly laggy gameplay without a clue why since it had been pretty good before the old harddrive died. Finally was led to start Oblivion by itself (without OBSE) and found that the video had be "recognized" as very poor instead of the High that it should have been, Changed that one thing, and I managed to get my pretty decent performance again... Have you tried starting with a new character or only with your more experienced characters (savegames)?

Go back to TesNexus Wrye Bash mod files area and also download WryePython03a. Install that one first. Then extract WryeBash 287 into your oblivion (not data) directory. Then extract WryeBash 290 into your oblivion directory (on top of the 287 that is already there). (If you have win vista/7, I hope your oblivion directory is not somewhere under c:\Program Files or c:\Program Filies (x86).) Create a shortcut to start "...whereever...\Oblivion\Mopy\Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw" (full path to whereever it is) and make sure that the Start In directory is set to ...whereever...\Oblivion\Mopy. You might also need to set the shortcut so that it executes "c:\python26\pythonw.exe ...whereever...\Oblivion\Mopy\Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw" instead. Quotes around it are required btw because Wrye Bash Launcher.py has spaces embedded in it.
