  1. My dream mod would be to follow the civil war storyline after the end of the war, to deal with the thalmor. There have been attempts, but I've found them all to be abandoned, buggy, or simply lackluster.
  2. Awesome, leron9999! If someone does pick up Ralin Drakus' custom race idea, thatd be an awesome match up, but any race would do. I'll try and write up some more possible scenarios, backgrounds... stuff to build on, since writing is one thing I can do.
  3. Body mods generally have adapted vanilla armolrs, and some popular armor mods have body mod addaptions (no idea about immersive armors). Body mods with vanilla armor adaptions would still affect most npcs, though your character wouldn't look different except when naked. I'm not totally sure about all this, I only use the 2011 nude males and females, to get rid of that ridiculous underwear.
  4. He could rename a ring in the game as an invitation to that dinner. That might give away the surprise, though.
  5. That's a cool custom race, and a fitting rival. We'd have to be facing one opponent repeatedly, otherwise it'd feel like the dragonborn dlc and those dragon worshipers that hunt you.
  6. From what I understand armor and body mod compatibility is just a cosmetic issue. if you have armor that isn't designed for the body mod, your character will be shaped differently when naked than when armored.
  7. This is an idea I've been playing with for a little while. One of the major shortcomings in skyrim is that everyone is impersonal. Your kids, your wife, your companions... they're all kind of bland. While a number of mods add better followers, not many add really compelling villains. I can't think of any mods that add a proper antihero. Alduin might be able to talk, but at the end of the day, he's just a beast. The opposing general in the civil war is distant, not a personal enemy, but an ideological opponent. The ebony warrior had potential, but we only fight him once. What skyrim needs is a rival. The rival could be anywhere from an adventurer competing for fame and glory, to a vaillain seeking all the daedric relics. They would level up with the dragonborn, and interfere with the players progress at pivotal moments. Perhaps barring the path to a vital quest item, or interfering with whatever faction(s) the dragonborn associates with. If the dragonborn's in the dark brotherhood, for example, the rival assists the soldiers in destroying the DB enclave. The rival'd come from a wealthy, perhaps noble, background to contrast the player's shady origins. Whatever side of the war the player chooses, the rival would take the opposite. The rival would choose skills that exploit the players weaknesses. If the player leveld up and put their perk into archery, the rival would level up and take arrow deflection, or shield charge, for example. I know that last bit is extraordinarily complicated, but it'd be amazing if someone pulled it off. Anyway, thanks for reading. I hope this catches a modders eye  Cheers!
  8. I wouldn't say it does a poor job. You have to choose between the bigots that fight for freedom, and the fair minded people who serve a different group of bigots. The empire feels like it has a moral high ground, until you remember that they bow to the thalmor, which are just the elven edition of the stormcloaks.
  9. I'm wondering if compatibility patches could, theoretically, be generated with TES5edit alone. I haven't learned how to use the CK (yet) but TES5edit seems capable in some cases. An example might be two mods with numerous conflicts, including factions. Perhaps mod 'b' needs to overwrite mod 'a' everywhere except factions, so you place mod 'b' below mod 'a'. Then you could open them in TES5edit and copy mod 'a's factions into a new .esp, and load that after mod 'b'. I'm wondering if what I've described in the example above is actually valid. Since I don't understand the CK, all I can see of mods is what comes up in TES5edit. Anyway, thanks for reading, hopefully someone can answer.
  10. NMM is still a fine tool, and popular. I guarantee that whatever issues your having are either rare, or user error: NMM works better now than it did a year ago. Manual installations are valid for a few mods, but if you intend to use more than a dozen, I wouldn't recommend it. Mod managers are invaluable for load order alone. Manual installation helps you understand what goes on when you install mods, where they go, etc... but it's not efficient or effective once you understand modding. MO is somewhat more advanced than NMM. It has the potential to be safer, and far stronger, as a mod manager. Unfortunately MO is also more complicated than NMM, and most mods are packaged with NMM in mind. This can have unforeseen consequences, such as the issues some people had with SMIM's fomod installer and MO. Personally, I think MO is good for anyone who understands and utilizes the dual priority system, and a mistake for anyone who does not. If you're building one 'perfect' load order, there's no need for MO. Pros and cons to all approaches, but I think most mod users would agree that manual installation isn't going to be the norm again.
  11. When I open the nexus mod manager, it no longer shows the latest version of the mods I have. The hole column is empty. Also, when I log in, I get a green bar for "downloading." I have no idea what it's trying to download, but the download's failing entirely, going at 0 kb/s. Has anyone else experienced these issues?
  12. Pitch black IS realistic. Except in an open tundra, with snow and a full moon, nights are black. This doesn't hold in the modern world because we have a ton of artificial light sources, which brighten the night and reflect off of clouds. If you delve into the wilderness, though, visibility reaches zero. CoT's options are hugely different, and realistic nights has brighter options too. The first level of darker nights for CoT is barely any darker than vanilla, while level 6 and up are pitch black. You've probably got your monitor or game brightness f***ed up if you can't find anything between pitch black and vanilla brightness.
  13. I'd sort the masters in tes5edit, they're not correct atm.
  14. http://static2.nexusmods.com/15/images/110/6128401-1390278614.jpg Image related: note the position of the hairslider changes, but the hairstyle does not.
  15. I've noticed that the mod Druid Essentials is one of the few mods I use that could be cleaned, and I can't figure out if the ITMs are intentional or not. Does anyone know if the mod is relying on those ITMs for functionality?
  16. It's the vanilla bald option, no hair mods installed, except a retexture (which I've already tried uninstalling, and wouldn't show up in the boss log).
  17. It wasn't intended to be mean, just honest. Heavily modding a game just to make it playable doesn't sound worth it to me. I heavily mod skyrim for replayability, but I had a blast in vanilla. Other games where I don't like the base game, I just move on, heavily modding a game is time consuming. On the other hand, it sounds like your issue really is just the interface. There are certainly a number of mods for that. You might also want better message box controls, for ease of navigation.
  18. Check out Qotsafan's patches. They're similar to balbor and steelsoul, and cover other mods. Even if she (I think) hasn't covered that mod, she has a spreadsheet for determining the values the armor should be at. After you've determined the correct values via the spreadsheet, you can edit the reproccer's xml, I think. Qotsafan herself (himself?) could tell you how to do that better than I.
  19. There may still be script heavy mods, just not that I recognize. There are also ini settings and whatnot that might help. Ask on the mod page itself, it's likely something other people have encountered. Also look at the article called ".ini Tweaks" in my signature, and at this thread: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/894681-skyrim-script-lag/
  20. I'm not seeing anything other than skyre as far as scripts (though I'm not familiar with all your mods) and I run skyre with frostfall. I think you can change how often frostfall's scripts update in the MCM, though, that might help.
  21. I've been crashing all over Solstheim. I first noticed when I tried to use LAL's dark elf - solstheim start. I could play for more than a couple minutes without crashing. At the time, I thought it was the fault of Dovahkiin and the Apprentice of Thuum, because my logs were filled with bugs tied to that mod. Unfortunately, months later, I'm finding the same issue again. I'm fairly sure that it's not a bug with Live Another Life, or more people would be having my problem. Which begs the question, where's the conflict? The crashes happen in raven rock and solstheim in general, but they seem to happen most often around the farmhouse outside raven rock. The one where you start, "March of the Dead." I've not confirmed that this bug is present when entering solstheim the vanilla way, but I'll try to see asap. Boss Log If anyone could help, that would be lovely!
  22. I didn't, but I tried installing them, to no avail. The problem persists. I did see that i had roughly 59 copies of the "bald" hairstyle on the breton, though.
  23. To be perfectly honest, if you can't play vanilla, I don't think modding is worth the effort. I'd just find a game more suited to your tastes. Edit: but as others have said, SkyUI will help with the menus. Not much, but some. I think it's the most popular mod on the nexus, out of every game. As far as I can tell, though, every f***ing game is a console port these days. It's awful, and I think I need to stop buying new games until companies pull their collective head out of their ass.
