  1. i disagree. the part that is not clear is that from previous games we expected so much finesse that is just not present in skyrim's version of the guild. there's no need to be absolutist about it (wrong is wrong is wrong). of course it's wrong, but being a thug is just plain out of character for the thieves guild. btw, however old the necro is, i'm still waiting for a mod that detaches the thieves guild from the black-briar family and make the jobs less bandit-like. edit: if this "finesse" thing still don't ring any bells, please watch ocean's eleven (and ocean's twelve too) if you haven't yet
  2. a cleric playthrough in a game that isn't quite geared towards pure restoration builds and all you want is...an armor mod? http://i.imgur.com/ao55UfF.gif *sigh*, here. you can thank me later.
  3. well, the hard part would be detecting if the player has gotten an arrow to the knee
  4. here's another. I've been looking for DIFFERENT buildings than what has been made by bethesda. but so far no luck. aren't there any custom building exteriors? i mean actual models, not retextures. maybe houses, barns, etc. ...castles too but that's a lot to ask.
  5. yeah but the thing you are ignoring (somehow) is that if you are serious about this so called "realism" then you HAVE to get rid of any sort of magic, potions, enchanting, smithing, infinite containers, dragons, shouts, trolls, draugr, falmer, swimming in the frozen ocean, any reference to dwarves and....the elder scrolls!, so what kind of game does that leave? a nice looking nature sim? face it, you ARE playing an unrealistic game! with laws different from this reality, therefore trying to apply the laws of this reality to the TES world doesn't work so well. you cannot rave about how "unrealistic" it is to carry a few hundred pounds of loot and then throw a fireball at a dragon, absorb it's soul and go back to full health instantly with a potion! puhleeze now if you talk about believability, that a totally different tuna. and in a reality where magic exist, it's perfectly believable that someone might have a pocket dimension to store their loot... or that all trousers come with a powerful feather effect. (forget about Viagra, this is the thing! ha!) edit: by the way, how realistic or believable it is that people's hair and clothes are stiff as a rock so they are unaffected by gravity? or that when you equip a helmet you become completely bald and sometimes even loose your ears? or that chicken and horses can report your crimes to the guard? edit2: and another one: tell me, when was the last time you saw a toilet in the game? i mean...there must be some right? where do people go when they really need to? isn't that the ultimate inmersion breaker? funny thing is it only hits you long after playing, as you open the fridge door
  6. thing is, it varies wildly from one motherboard to the next, so you basically must know what you're looking for. in short, setting the bandwidth of the pcie bus to match your card's. some mobos have specific optimizations for it, etc. some show it as 8x 16x etc, others show the values in Gb./s, others have power saving features for it.. thing is, go there and see what's available to you.
  7. heh, if you want her to become a game designer one day, get her into programming. (C++ specifically.) , OpenGL, the unreal engine, the cryengine, the unity engine, or if she leans towards the graphics side, teach her 3dStudio Max, Maya, Photoshop... ... not modding games! and for that, any current system with a GPU will do. edit: and why? because modding is a hobby for those with the aformentioned talents already honed.
  8. did you read the... readme.txt inside the archive you downloaded? no?
  9. ooh you did miss something big: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha! and best of all, FREE! never mind the triple A franchises, they're overrated and carbon copies of previous releases for the most part.
  10. http://i.imgur.com/smXHaxr.jpg keep in mind though, that regardless of what companies may lead you to believe, LAPTOPS ARE NOT FOR GAMING. if you're going to use a laptop, you might as well choose a latest gen console instead. oh and turbo boost... hehe, you like snake oil aye? that's integrated overclocking with one button for people to pretend they are "harcore pc gamers" with overclocked gear...at a push of a button xD look, mate, you don't really need an i7 to play anything you like. you can do well with an i5 or i3. 4 to 8gb ddr3 do just fine!, and you don't need a Titan so the game loads either. even with a gtx670 or gtx560 you are WAY past the recommended requirements. though i'd advice against a gtx480 or below. or even a non GTX card. the games will load of course, but the cards will give you nothing but headaches!. also there's AMD/ATI they're cheaper bottom line: forget about laptops for gaming. unless you're talking about facebook games...
  11. you forgot the diskette drive :P notice how OP completely ignored mentioning the PSU specs?
  12. nope. you need 2 identical cards for SLI. kudos to your grandma though. wish mine would give me for a couple of GTX Titans
  13. no integrated gpu will ever be better than a dedicated one. specially if we are talking about a GTX. the reason for it has nothing to do with speed really. but with bandwidth. there is only so much data you can pipe though a single bus, and the PCIe bus is optimized for just that. now about the problem, check your EFI and see the configuration of the pci express slots if there's no such option, then update your EFI. lastly, you have to know your tools. a gtx660 is a great piece of hardware, but it can't render EVERYTHING on max specs and 4k resolution! so first make sure you're playing in 1080p or less and get rid of AntiAlias. also there's uGridsToLoad... that one doesn't even care what GPU you have. set it too high and it's going to bring your computer to it's proverbial knees. just keep it on default and you should be ok. edit: oh and if you do have a 4k display, well... you're going to need a GTX Titan or two to play at that resolution. there's no way around it.
  14. or better yet. the hunting guild turns every hunter into a merchant of game produces.
  15. if you're concerned about productivity you shouldn't be playing (or posting on a forum) at all. instead you should be working... procreating, i don't know. then again that's not very healthy either. http://i.imgur.com/biv4CQI.jpg people should have --and should be entitled to have hobbies, interests, things that they do simply because they LIKE them. AND DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE!
  16. i can see that by your choice of using Word Perfect of all things. if you can't afford ms word/office you're better off with libreoffice or openoffice also...bat files are simple text files. you don't need anything special to create them. actually you could even create a text file from console commands directly, but since you admit to not knowing much, just stick to notepad.
  17. there are SO MANY good games out there, not just equal but better than skyrim. of course the gameplay or story might not be a carbon copy of skyrim obviously, but the experience is just as enjoyable. you just have to open your mind and let go of that "skyrim boundary" actually i've seen that same fixation on some people. not with skyrim, but other games. some will not play anything that is not GTA, others won't play anything that is not Need for Speed, regardless of how good the alternatives are. some go as far as neglecting newer versions of the same game. for instance, a person i know ONLY plays GTA San Andreas, and is unable to see beyond that. another one ONLY plays NFS Most Wanted (the 2005 one) and i wonder WHY??? have you ever tried S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? those are awesome!, specially with mods!, the latest Castlevania, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Devil May Cry 4 (5 is good too but 4 is better imo). i could keep going on and on, but there are SO MANY that it would take too long. just go out and play!
  18. EEK! thank the forum's "new content" button for showing threads for all the games and NOT allowing any kind of filtering :wallbash: disregard my previous comment. my apologies.
  19. http://i.imgur.com/sa6v2QU.jpg :)
  20. look for "Skyrim" and/or "Steam" in the registry. then check the .ini files in the steam directory. (not sure which one but one of them contains the location of your downloaded games) ¬¬
  21. are you playing a huge smelly nord?. Vilja keeps complaining about my smell :shrugs:
