  1. Wow. you just reminded me..

When my husband and I started dating he was freshly divorced and had a two year old son. One summer day I watched him with his son and another on tricycles, he was so gentle and strong and fatherly, sunlit and golden and mellow and laughing. I knew I would love him forever.

  3. In a raid conducted at the home last week, a federal search warrant says agents were investigating the couple for mail fraud, Social Security fraud and theft of government funds.

So they were fraudsters. 'It happens.

So let's not provide milk for poor babies, because you know there might be two more cockroaches like that in the US somewhere. Who cares about the poor anyway?

    /facetious off

I want to mention it's just as short-sighted and detrimental to people of a class or race to disregard their special circumstances. Blind justice is often injustice.

  4. It used to be having another baby would get you a 'raise'. That changed in the 80's or 90's.... Don't recall which......

What disgusts me is, DHS (the folks that administer welfare...) allows you to have SOME assets.... like, a home....... So there was the case of the family in Washington state, (I think) that was collecting welfare, yet living in a million dollar home......

Something that REALLY disturbs me though is, Alcoholism being ruled as a "disability"....... and folks being on Social Security because they are drunks......

It changed in the welfare reform act of 96.

I'm not aware of any of the alcoholics I know getting social security benefits for being alcoholics. In fact in the two states I'm most familiar with it's extremely difficult to get disability (for any reason) and you usually have to keep going back to press your case and prove it's valid, even if you have all the forms right the first time.

  5. In the US there is now TAN-F (which is the current 'welfare system' more accurately called Welfare to Work). If you do not fulfill the required activities it is discontinued, those activities include 'job skills' classes (not job training by the way), or school or a training program not funded by the program, if you don't have a job. If you are mentally incompetent you receive social security and not 'welfare', so it is not covered from this part of the federal budget at all.

I seriously doubt most people are able to discuss this issue intelligently, (perhaps people in this forum are a rare exception) because the media still portrays it as if there is such a thing as a "welfare queen having babies to get a bigger paycheck".

Not possible. TAN-F has a maximum of about 5 years and if you have a baby while you're receiving it, that child does not figure into a new benefit formula. In other words you are stuck with what you get. Suppose this yapping about curtailing access to contraceptives were to pass, you couldn't very well continue that limitation, could you?

Furthermore TAN-F covers families who are more accurately described as the "working poor". They have jobs but do not make enough money to pay for a roof over their heads plus basic necessities. I recently heard that in the recession the bulk of recipients are now in this working poor group.

By the way, Florida tried the Mandatory Drug Testing "The Legislature in 1998 approved a drug-testing pilot project for people receiving temporary cash assistance. But the results were underwhelming. Of the 8,797 applicants screened for drugs, only 335 showed evidence of having a controlled substance in their system and failed the test, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The pilot project cost the state $2.7 million (or about $90 a test)."

  6. Use the Tilde to open the console

Make sure you're clicking on her body so that her Reference ID is in the console window, and then type "resurrect" (and then enter of course) and if you've got the right Reference ID she will respawn.

  7. The point of stopping the abuse is to save tax dollars, right?

Do you know how much drug testing costs? So to weed out a few bad apples you're willing to put more strain on a system that is in fact designed to help the neediest and the poorest among us. Do you know what group is the largest group of the most needy? Children. Who is hurt most by drug abusers? Their children. This is the biggest failure in the system.

  8. I completely see the point made in the original post, and Ginny, your post made me laugh. (I too have a naturally heart shaped face to my everlasting chagrin.)

I had no idea, though, that there was this pressure to add anime tags to skyrim mods that aren't anime, and for that reason, I think the discussion becomes quite relevant to Skyrim.

Perhaps some enlightening is in order. The OP's contention is not that classical art is anime. Exactly the opposite point that anime art is predisposed to the same classic standards of beauty as the classical artists.

It comes back to the pervasive overblown, self-entitled and self-inflated attitude of one who thinks they are the ultimate critic, and should be the arbiter and dictator of what is presented for consumption.

The other point I want to make, is that this seems to me to be a knee jerk reactionary response from the community that hated the Japanese influence in Oblivion. They love to complain but you don't see many of them get off their asses and learn blender, do you?

And this one last thing that is slightly off topic, but I have been doing a lot of research into the history of women warriors, and the fact is there is such a dearth of women warriors historically, that most women warriors simply adapted mens armors as best they could, and most likely only fought a short while out of necessity rather than a career. There just isn't much to go on, except fantasy. And in fantasy you can do whatever you want. That's why the realism argument always fails.

Why is this relevant to your topic, because they are likely labeling everything that is feminine and somewhat or perceptually viewed "modern" as anime. Am I right?

    I give you "misogyny".

Skyrim in itself is a beautiful game, thou I understand the need for mods such as camping and even adding more realism by implementing a need to eat and even sleep. Hell I'm even down for random mudcrabs being topped off with hats and curse as I beat em with a stick. But seriously it goes too far when I'm walking along the mountains and some porcelain doll humanoid suddenly shows up in the land of Skyrim.

And this is coming from an Asian dude.

Enough with the weeabo inspired mods, seriously....

No matter who you claim to be, modders make what they want, not what you dictate.
