Seeking solutions for .vortex_backup files preventing Nemesis from running/mod deployment

Not much help here. But you are the only one experiencing this issue. So, it is unique to SOMETHING that you are doing. You might not see it as incorrect, but obviously it is.

If it were me, I would just start over. First, I would PURGE from Vortex. Then I would literally delete my entire data folder and then reacquire it verifying/repairing with STEAM to get back to pure vanilla. DEPLOY at that point and see where you are at.

I used it to manage my mods. Load order, to see them all in one window, to install them, etc. I probably should've been more specific when talking about manually installing them in NMM. I meant I had zero issues when it came to manually installing mods while using NMM, but still had it install some mods for me via the Mod Manager Download option.

As far as my usual routine with vortex, I don't really have one. I just follow the install instructions provided by the mod poster when prompted, and the only thing I've had to edit other than the skyrim.ini files to fix my resolution/refresh rate, is the Animated Wings and Flying mods conflicting with CGO in SSEEdit and got it to work properly. I either click and drag the .zip into vortex, or click and drag loose files into the necessary folders as the mod authors instructs when I can't simply drag the zip files into vortex when manually installing them. But 95% of the time I had it download through the mod manager option.

I've already looked into the antivirus conflicts and that wasn't it either. I even gave it permissions just in case, and when it came to deleting FNIS, I clicked the Remove button with the trash icon next to it in the mod manager. Did I have to disable first THEN uninstall? It indeed remove it but the backup files were still there and I couldn't delete them without having to reboot in safe mode. That was about as much manual deletion I did after I had vortex remove it. Was that the incorrect way of doing it?

OK, then it's something exclusive to your system, because only you have reported this problem so far, if this a problem with Vortex, there would be a LOT of people here reporting the same thing.

So either you have some kind of Backup Program on your Computer, or you have ONE DRIVE installed, and for whatever reason ONEDRIVE is automatically archiving and restoring your Mod Staging Folder when you add/remove mods, or something similar, because as of now, this is exclusive to your system only.

Don't have one drive but I made the switch to MO2 and everything seems to be working fine so far. Can even manually move load order too which is nice. Getting CBP to work on vortex was impossible and couldn't find how to click and drag like I can with MO2 which is so much better.

Edit: I got it to work in vortex. I'm pretty I may have done something improperly, though I'm not sure what. I uninstalled everything and reinstalled it all and now it seems to be working perfectly so far. Hope it stays that way..

you cant click and drag because vortex is not made to click and drag

you may as well be trying to find a radio channel on your microwave. then complain because the picture's not very good.

I know that's why I'm not using it anymore :P Being able to click and drag is more useful.

You can set a rule in Vortex or .........(wait for it).........drag and drop.......

Granted if you drag and drop in Vortex it creates a rule. But your choice, at least, as to how you want to do it.

Yea, I figured by your user name that you weren't going to put any serious effort into using vortex, considering your name is WTBNMMBack = "Want to bring Nexus Mod Manager Back"

And your Tom Cruise "Laugh" Meme/Avatar.

Thanks for wasting our time though.

so your original issue - which was pointedly your own fault - has now been replaced by drag/drop? that makes it all better does it? makes sense.
