Spajinski
Hi, so basically i get the notification that says loose files may not get loaded. when i click more it says "due to oddities in the game engine, some loose files will not get loaded unless we change the filetime on the vanilla BSA/BA2 files. there is no drawback to doing this." so i click "fix" and an error message occurs titled "access denied" and reads"vortex needs access to "C:\ProgramFiles\WindowsApps\bethesdaSoftworks.SkyrimSE-PC.... etc etc... but doesnt have permission to. if your account has admin rights Vortex can try to unlock the file for you."I can click Cancel, Retry, or Give permission, but they all do nothing and i have to force close Vortex to get rid of the error message.Im not very computer savvy so any help is appreciated. showler
I think it's Gamepass. Probably need to use another type of Archive Invalidation. Might need an extension for Gamepass version as well.

showler
https://www.nexusmods.com/news/14503 I'd start by looking at this. It might be that you just need to enable modding for the game first.
isteee
https://www.nexusmods.com/news/14503 I'd start by looking at this. It might be that you just need to enable modding for the game first. That is not applicable anymore. Mods can be installed but they don't go to the Mod folder but to the Data folder.I have the same issue though I don't use Game Pass I bought the game on the Xbox app. When I had the same error message I gave permission. When I install a new mod it appears in the ingame Mod menu but it is at the end of the list and disabled.Whenever I install a new mod or change the load order on the plugins tab the same happens: the ingame mod order is not applied and the mods are not activated.Similar happened when I tried to add the game to the Nvidia Control Panel but it says I don't have permission to do that. I checked the folder and file permissions and basically the 2 main executable files are protected only.Would be great to solve this as I have the SE version on Steam but I don't want to buy the AE upgrade again. (I bought Skyrim AE and Fallout 4 GOTY in bundle in the Xbox app on PC)
showler
Mods were never installed to a mod folder. You need to enable modding in order to allow you to modify the files in the game's directory. Also, you shouldn't be using the in game mod menu at the same time as a real mod manager like Vortex. They'll conflict.
isteee
Mods from the Bethesda website (same as the ingame Mod menu) go to the Mod folder. But that doesn't matter as I don't use them. There is no option for enabling mods like the one you linked. That is not applicable anymore.Where else I can enable modding or what else need to be enabled? When I got this loose file message I clicked on Give Permission and gave right to all files in question.Because currently Vortex can't set the load order in the game and if I don't enable or sort them manually ingame then they are not loading (the ones at least showing up in the list). I asked some friends and their Vortex load order and the ingame load order is the same and they have the game on Steam.I assume this is still the Windows file permission thing or the Xbox app protects all files?I tried to google this but most results are about something else. Guest deleted34304850
how are you doing this; "if I don't enable or sort them manually ingame" what are you doing "manually"?
