Vortex Update Induced Mouse Lag?

Recommended Posts

We started experiencing mouse lag, and mouse-direction errors (mouse won't navigate the cursor clockwise), and the Windows alarm chime after Vortex Updated.

This lag and the mouse-lag-alarm chimes occur constantly, but only within Vortex-associated applications.

So, the mouse lag starts whenever in Vortex, or when running Skyrim SE from the Vortex SSE start tool, meaning when playing Skyrim SE, and when in the Creation Kit.

The mouse lag and alarm chimes do not arise during any other Windows 10 application, during desktop work, or when in any other STEAM game.

Does anyone have any ideas? We have inquired on the Nexus about the possibility of SSE Engine Fixes having a mouse-related flaw, but we thought we should post here, too.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

With the problems you're experiencing with that mouse, I suspect you need to consider getting a new one. If it's battery powered, check the batteries and contacts. Also check your dongle (remove and reinsert it. Contacts can get oxidized. If it's wireless but charged via a hub, your internal Li batteries may be wearing out.

If it's wired, as I've noted in another reply on another issue you had, your cable wiring (somewhere between 30-40ga afaik) is probably starting to fail. This wear will result in periodic intermittent, audible Dings as windows disconnects and reconnects to the mouse due to the intermittent electrical connection

If I recall correctly, you use a Logitech gaming mouse, right? Logitech mice are notorious for eventual cable wear, and at least for the wireless hub models I've had in the past, the cheap Li poly batteries wear extraordinarily quickly.

OK, the issue arises in the Creation Kit, when using it standalone.

It also arises when Vortex is opened, though we understand there shouldn't be any mouse-affiliated sub-apps within Vortex, and we get the issue when navigating profiles and menus in Vortex, even if not playing the game.

(We have not updated Steam.)

We're on board with @anjenthedog's advice, too, though we only have (USB-cabled) mouse issues under the conditions related to Skyrim SE.

If the mouse were faulty, wouldn't the issue appear in all other non-Skyrim related applications and PC desktop work? We did open and clean the mouse, and reseat the cable.

We will try playing the game from the SKSE launcher.

We thought that as a possibility, but not how to address it. We'll try that, but!

We experienced a Vortex Update, yesterday, and the Vortex screen as it now appears has confused us.

Our Vortex Screen and its partitions originally showed our two managed and owned games, Skyrim, and Skyrim SE.

But now, the Vortex screen-window for managed games shows only Skyrim as one managed game, but the icon for Skyrim SE as a managed game has gone.

Also, the Vortex partitioned window that showed all of our Skyrim SE tools (SSE Edit, FNIS, etc.) has disappeared. We can't seem to access the tools, including the "run Skyrim SE tool."

Our Skyrim SE Profiles are still there, but when we enabled one, we received an error message that Vortex could not find the paths. It could no longer find the FNIS path.

We appreciate Vortex, and the work behind it. Nonetheless, we still need advice. We will also post this as its separate post.

The "recently managed games" applet shows any recently managed games other than the one you are currently using. If SE is currently being managed it will only show Skyrim and vice versa.

The tool applet probably got pushed to the very bottom of the screen. You can customize the page to move it back up.
