M48A5
I have recently read that quite a few members were banned for "scraping files". Would it be possible for someone to explain just what is "scraping files"?
StormWolf01
Heyas M48! :) Ummm... this spells it out a lot better than I can.https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=scrapingBut it's summed up by stealing files from say: Here, and then distributing those files without the author's permission on different sites. ;)

I understand the reason for the ban now. I think that the ban could have been explained better instead of using an obscure urban slang term. Wikipedia has an article on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_scraping

showler
Is "stealing mods" accurate?
Pickysaurus
Not really, they're using the same UI as you or I to get the mods (and have an account registered) but they're generally downloading loads of mods in quick succession most likely from some kind of automated script/tool. You explained it quite well. That is more understandable than just "scraping files". Just my opinion, but wouldn't it save resources by just listing the user name in a spoiler under one topic? Pickysaurus
The ban threads are automatically generated when we ban a user, so there's no time saved by batching them.
