Dashyburn
Shows that are based in reality, yet defy reality and the basic laws of physics, eg. Fast and Furious movies, Rambo type movies, standing dead still toting twin mini gun sized weapons defeating wave after wave of machine gun toting dudes without taking a single hit, men defeating waves of other men in hand to hand combat, women in singlets with no muscle mass defeating Arnie sized men in hand to hand combat, all non bruce lee kung fu movies with people that are not superheroes flitting about, kicking people and launching them skyward, the list goes on. Marvel movies started out ok, then they injected too much inappropriate, 'comedy' Thor turned into a total twat, the hulk morphing into that ridiculous half hulk thing, that rock thing with a New Zealand accent that says 'ay broo', spiderman with a voice like a 10-year-old, she-hulk, enough said. DC movies, everybody loves the Flash, not anymore with that clown they cast, even the fellow from the Flash series would have been better, although the rest of the cast are spot on. Doctor Who, in the days of the magnificent Tom Baker the stories were varied and took place in locations across the entire universe, now it seems the only planet in existence is Earth, Daleks, Sontarans and cybermen are plain ridiculous. So many movies now have incoherent, unfollowable storylines that will lower your IQ, or are a jumble of quick flashy scenes pieced together that would have Mr. Einstein asking "what the"? Now for some good one's, we have Linda Hamilton from terminator 2, brilliant, realistic and no ridiculous attitude like that cringe worthy she-hulk The Matrix 1 and 2, Keanu, Laurence and Carrie-Anne are magnificent, Linda Hamilton and Carrie Anne Moss are prime examples of great female characters without the thing that they destroy likeable female characters with nowadays (again, I'm looking at you, She-Hulk and let's also add captain Marvel) Done :)
Guest deleted34304850
see where you put the matrix, you know you just contradicted all the previous paragraphs, right?
Dashyburn
Wrong, "shows that are based in reality" the matrix itself is a fantasy setting, look at the characters when they are not plugged in, just ordinary humans, no super abilities. Dashyburn
Yawn...sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, which explains why the point was missed when I stated 'Based In Reality', I did not state these were real events, so yes, your bad. Guest deleted34304850
but they are not at all in any way, shape or form based in reality, hence my point stands.basically you like some movies and not others. amazing.
Dashyburn
I'll put it in different terms, these movies are portrayed as taking place in the world we live in, not a fantasy world, so when I see people or vehicles disobeying the physics of the real world, the entire movie becomes detached from reality and spoiled. Marvel movies are not set in the real world, they are in a fantasy setting, therefore when the laws of physics are defied in this setting, I am able to suspend reality and not scream 'What a crock! Cars don't do that! or 'he should be dead standing still in that hail of gunfire!'.

This is less to do with writing and more to do with practical effects/stunts vs CGI, take Mad Max Fury Road, yeah it was a two-hour car chase, but the action scenes were fantastic because they felt real and the reason why they felt real is they were made with largely practical effects and done with proper stunt work, not CGI, the human brain is very good at spotting fakery and I personally think that's why a lot of CGI heavy action movies are boring, at least ones set in a world we have experience of. Dashyburn
Agreed, Mad Max fury road was brilliantly executed, the original is even better, released in 80' with zero CGI all real action.

(Not since Disney stole the brand from Stan Lee)2) Carol Danvers (Under the entire list of names she's taken as a "Hero") was NEVER a likeable character in the comics. So in those two cases, the characters have been written EXACTLY like they have been in the comics.Which leads right back to poor production/writers.This, is also a prime example of how incredibly stupid hiring practices ruins a brand. Comic book stores are going broke, trying to sell Marvel brand.
