Aasmodeusss
I was deleting some out of date profiles I had and I think I must have accidentally deleted my currently active skyrim profile. I have hundreds of mods and it took me forever to get a stable load order Is there any way to recover a deleted profile or am I just screwed? Thanks
Guest deleted34304850
when you say "Vortex deleted the wrong profile", shouldn't it be more accurate to say "I told Vortex to delete the wrong profile", because on it's own, Vortex cannot and would not delete anything without the user instructing it to do so.In terms of recovering what you deleted, by any chance, do you have a recent backup of your APPDATA folder that you took, before you instructed Vortex to delete the wrong profile? If so, recover from that. If not, then I do not know of any way to restore a deleted profile from out of nothing.
Aasmodeusss
I don't know about that, Vortex does weird stuff all the time like deleting mod files on it's own but I probably did select the wrong profile. I was just frustrated because I knew I was going to have to spend a few days getting my mods sorted out again, haha.
Guest deleted34304850
it 100% does not delete files "on its own". you need to learn how to use the tool properly. read the knowledge base, watch you tube vlogs and stop making stuff up when the root cause is you and you alone. Aasmodeusss
Dude, it's a commonly reported issue that some people have. It looses files sometimes when deploying files and you have to reinstall the mod. It usually reports it as external changes even though no external changes have happened although sometimes it doesn't and you don't even know you're missing files until you try to reinstall the mod. Just because you haven't had the issue doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Guest deleted34304850
okay whatever you say.btw can you link me to these "commonly reported" issues, or is that yet more rubbish you've simply made up on the spot?
Aasmodeusss
I'm not your search engine, do a google or forum search on vortex lost files or vortex deleted my files. I would already think you would know since I seem to recall you like commenting on those posts calling the OPs liars instead of offering help . Zanderat
Literally every post I have seen reporting that Vortex deleted files on its own has been PEBKAC.
Guest deleted34304850
I'm not your search engine, do a google or forum search on vortex lost files or vortex deleted my files. I would already think you would know since I seem to recall you like commenting on those posts calling the OPs liars instead of offering help .i've never called anyone a liar. but i have corrected them (and you) when THEY post lies about what this tool did. YOU need to educate yourself on how the tool works, and once you know the basics, then you won't frame your issue to point at vortex, and understand that it did what YOU told it to do.Ignorance is not an excuse. If you're going to use a tool you first need to learn how to use the tool correctly. also, you can't link to those common reports because they don't exist. this is called fallacy and/or conflation. saying something does not mean it's true. one of us in this thread knows what they're talking about. to clarify, this is me, not you. stop making stuff up. learn how to use the tool correctly and your problems will go away. showler
Literally every post I have seen reporting that Vortex deleted files on its own has been PEBKAC.I wouldn't go that far. I've seen a few threads where such a thing was reported, the OP was told by various people that it was impossible and then they just stopped replying to the thread. Which means if there is a problem, or a way that the person could genuinely cause the deletion without realizing it (a way that could possibly be mitigated so it doesn't happen to other users), we never find out about it. In this particular case, if I were the OP, I'd be inclined to wait for a response from someone at Black Tree like Picky or Tannin.
