Fallout 4 next gen update this year

Pretty sure this update will break modded games (for those who use F4SE based mods), much like Skyrim AE. If I remember right, it is more laborious to update F4SE than SKSE64.

Without a doubt.

Its going to make a lot of mods obsolete next to incompatible.

I personally don't care. I'll adjust my mods if needed.

All for a better game with new modding opportunities. As well as a probable surge in players looking for mods.

I refuse to take the 'they are going to ruin it all' stance.

We went thru this with the various iterations of Skyrim SE..... It's nothing new, it's just something beth does.

Yes, of course, it will break F4SE, and possibly even some older mods.... but, that's par for the course.

In what kind of way can it break mods that don't rely on F4SE? I mean they're probably not going to change any type signatures, right?

That totally depends on what it entails.

A mod like the unofficial patch is probably going to break. Most others are simply going to be obsolete, or in dire need of an update.

Like 4K textures, which is likely, will probably "ruin" my own greener wasteland mod. My upscaled textures will be no match for a true 4K texture. Although the mod will probably load & run just fine.

Most likely scenario is that the Script Extender team will be given an advance copy so they can release an update on the same day the new version drops.

Then that will immediately be ruined when bugs are discovered and a new patch is required, but at least they'll have a head start.

Then, if there is CC content included, the Unofficial Patch will incorporate that content and will no longer be compatible with older versions of the game. They'll also strip out any fixes that are now officially fixed so you wouldn't want to use the new Unofficial Patch with an older version of the game anyway.

Finally, some people will declare that the older version is better and release downgrade patchers and everything will turn to chaos.

Ya know, it's almost like you have been thru this before. :D
