Dark0ne
Many of the big gun publishers are indicating that the next-gen games will be hitting the shelves at a new high of $60 for Americans. The most outspoken of the publishers include THQ, Activision and Take-Two. Tony Kee from Ubisoft mentioned "Making and marketing games is more expensive than ever, and we can envision games going to the $59 [mark] in the next cycle to help compensate for that fact". It's more than likely that PC games will also be affected by this price-hike in the near future. Premium games in the UK already cost £35 ($65) so it's unsure whether there will be a price increase for British gamers.
Peregrine
This is news? It's more surprising that game prices have remained static for so long, regardless of inflation. Increasing development costs or not, a price increase was inevitable if they wanted to stay in business. Anyway, I don't see it having much of an effect. If a game's worth buying at full price, $50 and $60 are the same. If it's not, well, it'll find its way to the $10 pile no matter what its starting price. Chaosmaker
I think the price of game's is gonna get ridiculously high in the next year or 2. Who knows how much the Next-Gen. consoles are gonna cost. I'd rather wait a little bit before geting a new game. I'd say by the end of thge decade the average price of game's is gonna be $65-$70. So it's gonna be hard to find money. Plus I can't blame them. The way gaming tech. is tight now no wonder why they have to raise the price. But I still think a lot of the price raise's are for greed. CrazyGilbert
I had read this somewhere else about games getting more and more expensive as gaming is getting more and more popular. Chaosmaker: not only for greed but also for the price of everything else! marketing and just making the games are going up and so is: candy, food, books, gas and just about everything ! Stanhead
What else is new I'm going broke buying lunch from school everyday !!!<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hahaha, me too. I can barely afford to do anything but stay inside and use my PC, and I can't even afford that with all this new hardware and games constantly coming out. :angry2:
Switch
As long as games don't start costing £45+, that's when I'd start to think that things are getting ridiculous. I remember the days when new releases for the Nintendo 64 costed £60, and average price was £50. I still don't see why they needed to charge so much. I just hope that doesn't happen again with these next gen consoles/games.
Chaosmaker
Hopefully it doesn't. Maybe they'll wake up and notice that lowering the price may attract more buyer's. Then again EA is the greedy. Next thing EA will try to take over the world.
