Zennophati
Hi, I have notice many mod author expicitly say in their mod installation description; "DON'T USE VORTEX.!!!" use manual installation instead.I keep wondering why the hell is that?why many mod author not supporting vortex? is vortex really that bad? or they just hate it for no reason? I personally like vortex, because it can handle many games, and keep track which mods have updates available.if the mods installed manually, I surely will miss mods updates. can you guys enligthen me in this matter? why many mod author not supporting vortex?thanks in advance

7531Leonidas
FWIW, I use Vortex. Some of those mod authors do not trust Vortex to handle the file transfers/hardlink writes effectively, especially on very complex mods. I have had to reinstall several mods that 'lost' files when I got too lazy/greedy and tried to install more than just a couple at a time, or tried to install/uninstall a mod before another mod was completely finished. From observing other authors and their comments, they just do not like the systems that Vortex has for conflict resolution and load order establishment, and do not want to try to support their mods under Vortex. showler
I think that's pretty much what it comes down to. They don't use Vortex, they don't understand it and they don't want to support it. Also, a lot of them just like to say "drag it to the bottom of your load order" to solve every problem they hear about.

rmm200
On Skyrim, I run a mod set of about 200 mods. 80 or so active on any given profile. Fallout 4 similar.None of the authors of the mods I use say don't use Vortex.Choose your mods more carefully.
AugustaCalidia
Like rmm200, I normally steer clear of mods with Vortex warnings. However, on several occasions I have installed such mods just to see what would happen. Vortex installed them without difficulty. (I would list those mods here, but that was some time ago, and I have completely forgotten their names.)
Lucidvisionsinc
With my mod the problem is I include a description and most people will miss the important information when they use vortex. So then they might ask a question or have issues with loading the mod. I believe as a mod creator I want to teach people and modders about the value of folder structure and organization. They miss out on learning this skill.
Guest deleted34304850
if people miss a description - how is that the fault of any mod manager? it's purely down to the fact that the user is an idiot who cannot/will not read.
7531Leonidas
Well, teaching that one must learn to adapt their solutions to changing situations is also important. I get the impression that many mod authors got so entrenched in NMM and MO/MO2 that they are unwilling to check their own assumptions about what is the simplest/best/most efficient way to accomplish the successful construction (and deployment) of a mod. I am NOT trying to start a flame war, just pointing out that we as humans do this all too often in all areas of life. WRT descriptions, I had a bit of trouble with a mod in the last week that I did not d/l a required master, b/c the mod author included just the name in their description, assuming that ppl would recognize it and d/l it. I, in my ignorance, was not familiar with that required mod, and just thought that there was a great description of what the mod would do, even though I checked the required mods on the mod page. One of the requirements was listed, but only the one, and not the other...
