Ascaladar
See the date this issue was reported: 2018 https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/issues/138 The one closing it completely misunderstood the actual issue and just closed it. The problem persists to this day. Vortex keeps, regardless of other settings drop its files on C:\Users\MYNAME\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\skyrimse\downloads Yes the game and the Vortex download folder are on a different drive but files still keep being dropped here which is more than a little annoying if you have a smallish SSD system drive and don't want its disc space occupied by game files that do not belong there. Ascaladar
Can we get Nexus Mod Manager back because with same irritating bugs persisting 5 years later I would rather use something that works.

showler
Your downloads are going to the default location even with the location changed in the downloads tab? Can you provide a screenshot of the problem because the settings have changed quite a bit since that issue you linked to.
Ascaladar
It seems the mod folder was in the right location, but the staging folder had defaulted again to an Appdata/roaming/vortex subfolder. Part of the headache was that the Vortex settings kept this info in different tabs.
Guest deleted34304850
you can use nmm if you want, if you can use your browser and a search engine to find a link for it - or - if you can't would you blame your browser and search engine of choice? Solution showler Posted October 29, 2023 Solution Share Posted October 29, 2023 Part of the headache was that the Vortex settings kept this info in different tabs.It got separated to different tabs because the "mod staging folder" is game specific while the "downloads folder" is universal to all your games. It was, arguably, more confusing having them on the same tab while behaving so differently.
rmm200
I will say Vortex should never, ever default to putting Downloads under AppData on the C: drive. That completely hides how much space Downloads takes. That is the first thing I recommend users change in Settings.
