"grand theft auto hasn't been automatically discovered, you'll have manually set it" I can't manage any rockstar games because of this and I would really appreciate some help

I get this message when I try to manage grand theft auto 5, and the same with red dead redemption 2, so I'm guessing it's the same with all games from the rockstar launcher. GTA5.exe isn't in the file explorer it gives me anywhere(believe me, I've checked) and even when I press view installation folder in rockstar launcher and I find where GTAV.exe is, when I go there in the file explorer vortex gives me, it, along with most other files in the folder are gone, and the same thing happens if I move it to another location, it's just not shown as being there in the file explorer vortex gives me, but in regular files, it is. even when I type GTAV.exe in the bottom tab in a location where GTAV.exe should be, it says "file not found" despite auto filling it, proving that it does, in fact, exist. I have been everywhere, reddit, YouTube, vortex's discord and nowhere seems to have the same problem as me and I don't know why.

I'm in vortex 1.9.7

I believe you should be selecting the folder that the GTAV.exe is in, not the file itself.  It doesn't show any files because it's not looking for files.

it then says:

Mod Staging Folder invalid
Your mod staging folder "F:\Grand Theft Auto V is not marked correctly. This may be ok if you've updated from a very old version of Vortex and you can ignore this.
However, if you use a removable medium (network or USB drive) and that path does not actually point to your real staging folder, you have to make sure the actual folder is available and tell Vortex where it is.
ENOENT: no such file or directory, stat 'F:\Grand Theft Auto V\___vortex_staging_folder'

i'm not really sure what to make of this, it may be because i changed the file location previously to  somewhere else but i don't know.

If you go into the settings while managing GTA V and point it to the desired directory, does that fix it?

I'm not sure what you mean, when I press manage for gta it doesn't let me press anything until the file explorer is closed

Did you manage to get Vortex to recognize the game?  Like GTA V is now in the top left corner of Vortex and you have a mods tab?

If so, you can go into the Vortex settings and go to the "mods" tab and find the "staging folder" information.

You need to be managing GTA V to do this because the mods tab is different for each game you manage.

i mean when it gives me this message the options i have are quit vortex, ignore, and browse - I've been clicking quit vortex because I dont wanna f*#@ anything up but i could try and see what it does. i doubt it would do anything other than make things more complicated though
