Which mods will be broken by the next gen update?

Recommended Posts

In the wake of the Next Gen Update for FO4 players need to avoid mods that uses F4SE until the Modders who made the mods favoured by people can update their Mods, then go back to them.

Sadly I fear mods mods will be left without updates as those who made them initially have moved onto other things and may not wish to return to modding FO4.

However we shall have to wait and see now 🙂

The oldest where created over 8 years ago... So, yeah, many will be left unattended I guess.

Would be nice to know somehow if a mod will work with the new update. (indicated on the mod page or something like that)

If you can avoid updating, avoid updating. As far as I understand, this cannot be called an update. This is just another useless patch that won't do anything useful other than take out f4se. Of all the additions to the engine libraries, only support for wide-format monitors is implemented. But modders have been implementing this support without bgs for a hundred years now. There are no really necessary updates. No rtx support, no trace error fixes for reflex refraction shaders. Why the hell does anyone need this update then?

They have added two new tags: "Broken in Next-Gen Update" and "Works with Next-Gen Update" that mod authors can add to their mods. If the mod author is not active anymore, It can also be added if at least (I think) three people vote for the tag.

I looked at disabling the update via Steam, but there is no permanent way to disable the updates, but then I do play on PC but I do not know if the Steam Games list has a different setup for Consoles.

What I do know is some of the best weapon Mods are only available on Console I mean it would be nice if the P90 or the FAL was available on PC, but sadly no.

As to what you said @South8028 I totally agree with you

Huh?

You might want to look through the Weapons section.    You have to go out of your way to find a modern version of a weapon that there isn't at least 2 of on the Nexus for the PC.

Yeah I would have to DL a MM to get them from Nexus, currently use Bethesda as I did something wrong when I had the NMMCE installed, the Mods went into the Manager okay, but when I started the game up through the Mod Manager the Mods were not recognised by the game, so I went to Bethesda to get my Mods, but that a different subject altogether 🙂

You sound like you need to watch a video.    This stuff isn't rocket science.

I haven't used the Mod Manager Download button in ages, at least 5+ years.     Always use Manual Download, then copy the mod to the location it needs to be to be installed from.
