dferstat
Being of a cautious nature, I disabled FO4 updates in Steam some months ago, reasoning that the update was going to wreak a degree of havoc on mods. As a result, I'm still able to use the (probably excessive) number of toons I've accumulated, and the (to me, at least) large number of mods I've downloaded. Sadly, it's quite possible that some of these mods will never be updated for NextGen, or never confirmed compatible. It may be necessary to maintain my current install as OldGen. Which brings me to FOLON, which we know will not be released until after NextGen is finalised. Which will, therefore, require an updated FO4. Is there any way I can run both OldGen and NextGen FO4 on my PC, with the same install of Vortex? Or am I going to have to buy a new PC (something that is, admittedly, years and years overdue) and use it to run NextGen FO4 (as well as Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077, and who know what other goodies) with a new install of Vortex. Thank you for your patience, and, in advance, for your help.
RoNin1971
Don't know if you have to, but a 2nd PC does the trick (for me)
363rdChemicalCompany
You bring up a valid point. I would like to play FOLON but I likely won't, since right now it looks like an upgrade is a requirement and thats not going to happen on my brand-new gaming rig anytime soon. They had a .163 version ready to go. Why not also release that?

Anyway, having both versions [of fallout 4] feels like a 'must' to me, as modder. So I can test my stuff on both the OldGen & NextGen versions. Still using the old CK as well, for compatibility. fraquar
Got to be honest here. I've contemplated a dedicated Linux box for years and the itch has finally gotten to me. Won't be building it till September, but yeah. Hopefully Fallout:London launches by then...
showler
They announced they have a new date but they haven't announced what that date is yet.
DjinnKiller
Sadly for me it was a huge letdown that the FOLON crew decided to not release the .163/old-gen version of the mod, and wait for the NG crap. I will never question the decesions of modders, they have their own problems. But I really, really, REALLY wish the FOLON would release the old-gen version, I'm not gonna update to NG for a very, very, very long time (if ever). With that off my chest, it is pretty easy to switch between FO4 installs, everything is folder based. At some point in time I had like 5-6 different install of FO4 (consumes a "little" bit of disk space though. BUT! This was/is with NMM as mod manager, could easily switch, NMM was none the wiser. Don't know how Vortex works (sorry for this, basically, non-answer).
subaverage
I have two harddrives in the same computer with full operating system. This lets me play different configurations of what ever I want. Also Fallout 4. Mainly for testing. Fallout London seems to get versions for old-gen and next-gen, but looking on the changes FO4 London might make I will test and play on my second harddrive. dferstat
@ subaverage If I understand you correctly, your PC has two drives, each bootable with their own OS and installed games. Have I got that right? "Fallout London seems to get versions for old-gen and next-gen ... " As I understand it, the FOLON team have already advised that they will only be releasing their mod for NextGen. fraquar
FOLON can really only support 1 version - since it's literally a total replacer. If they were going to support 2 versions - they'd have already released the version that was already ready to go mere hours before Bethesda snuffed it.
