That's fine.  I'm not really talking to you anyway.  Just making sure that people understand how little you know about how the game, mods and mod managers actually work.  Wouldn't want them thinking you are actually making sense.

That "ignore" option is there so that you don't have to read my posts, after all.

You are both competent contributors.

Too bad that in this case instad of our shared passions brining us together it has served to drive you apart.🤔

Sadly I agree - but there ( are others too ) that were / are getting tired of him talking down to us. So there comes apoint.

I think the disconnect people sometimes have is that EVERY mod made is made to work against vanilla game only - unless it explicitly states the Requirement dependencies.

Once you start using mods, it's the users responsibility to do the dirty work and find the cause of issues with their mod list - which is about 99.5% of the time.     Rare is the day where two people will use an identical mod list, identical .INI configurations and identical load order.

It took about a year of modding my game for that to finally sink in.    "Bruh, you just jumped off the ship - you are on your own".

Ever since, I am very selective with the mods I use and keep the mod total low - i.e. 100-150 tops.

More isn't better, better is better.    Figure out what you NEED, and keep the WANTS in check - it's the latter that bloats many a massive load order and tends to create much of the chaos.

1 - Most do list the requirements in the Description page ... it's just that more than not do not read it until after they start having issues.

2 - Yes it is the users job .. and most ( not all ) do take the time to figure it out and/or go to the MOD page and ask questions and/or go to Game Specific Forums to ask questions. There is indeed a learning curve to this and back when Skyrim ( Old-Rim ) came out, is when I came out w/the P.I.T.A. protocol with helping people.

On this note I agree to not get carried away with mods lists.

Who needs 7 different additional weapons and 5 different addtional armors?

I limit myself to one additional weapon or two ( from Neehers Select series , usually just the assault rifle) and one extra PA (usually either the SE-01 from Neeher or the T49 armor of the Storyteller)

I do collect  a good number of settlement mods though I must confess, but my highest payoff mods are various utilities like textInputMenu/Rename anything, MS Clone Settler outfit ( to easily dress and equip my guards, farmers etc in appropriate attire and weapons/armor), cheat console (to manipulate the universe to my liking), SPECIAL zapper ( to adjust key NPCs special values), settler builder, custom settlers, better settlers, settlers of the CW, Tales of the commonwealth, some dialogue improvements for settlers, more DC security, DC plus, Better settlers and as many new lands mods as i can get from Zorkaz and others, topped off my the indispensable Atomic World.

And of course CBBE and a number of VTAW clothing mods combined with showlooksmenu, showlooksmenu compendium and various looks assets like eyes of beauty facial sculpting , plus a couple of AAF mods for immersion, etc etc

When you add in requirements for all of the above I find myself with a hard floor of approx 250 mods below which the game is not interesting enough for me anymore.

I also noticed once I bust through about 350 mods, issues seem to pop up that do not ,with shorter mod-lists.

So these days, I try to keep it just under 300 , for me thats the sweet spot balancing added content , with acceptable level of risking extra bugs.

Nail on the head.

For me it's the opposite.    Barbie Dolls - never were my thing.    I could care less if Barbie (Piper) or Ken (Deacon) look like exhibits at a wax museum and look like they belong on a set of Hee Haw.

An accurate depiction of the game world and weapons/weapon mechanics.    Those are my "Needs".

Without those - immersion is destroyed - and with it game play.

-----

Everything else is gravy.

Though if I were to be honest, settlement mechanics comes a close 3rd.

Not so much for being a settlement mogul, but just to create my "safe house" the way I want it.

Everything is a matter of taste. My Nora is a woman in her mid twenties and let's say nice to be looked at. She is a lawyer and never fighted more than at court. She is a woman in mid 20 and a young mother that slept "frozen" for 210 years. She was looking nice and will be now. She was never affected by radiation, disease, hunger and thirst. So, yes she is still a good looking woman when she leaves Vault 111. What could happen to her after that................How long she would suvive the commonwealth is another question, but Fallout is not very logical in that. She is no scarfaced war machine, nor a weapon wielder before she was forced out of her Vault.

And what did people in the Commonwealth do in the last 210 years that lets it's look like that? Fallout 4 is no game to think about logic.

I prefer to think that the fo4 actor, both male and female, is a synth. The father created a synth in the image of his parent and set up a field experiment. In fact, Bethesda's original plot is unknown. The game script was officially rewritten 3 times, but maybe even more. Many scenario moves were removed and replaced due to the deadline and weak havok mechanics. The final vanilla is a compromise between desires and possibilities. As a result, we got a plot in which a lot was left behind the scenes... Bethesda just did a very sloppy job of it. The reason is the deadline. Only 6 months passed from building the final version of the fo4 engine to release. That is, Bethesda only needed 6 months to collect all the prepared resources into the game we saw. They were driven towards release as if hell was chasing them. Fast almost always means Bad.

Speaking of the world of fo4... It's basically not a realistic environment. This is the world of social satire and the canvas of ironic comics. Realism in this world was not originally intended. Just an environment in which the player will not be bored.
