Razor671
Whenever I launch Vortex, I am greeted by this error message and unable to proceed to the application. " IO error: LockFile C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\metadb/LOCK: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. " It doesn't crash outright, but it prevents me from actually using the app. I've tried increasing permissions, I've checked for other running vortex apps, I've restarted the computer, all several times. It still hasn't improved. I've also used LockHunter to find the source of the lock, which appears to be the app itself. If I try unlocking it, the application doesn't change. If I terminate locking process, since it's just Vortex itself locking it, Vortex terminates itself, and I'm locked anyway. No amount of combing through has changed it so far. Any help? Pickysaurus
Try deleting the file at C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\metadb/LOCK and restart your PC
Solution Nagev Posted December 4 Solution Share Posted December 4 Hey @Razor671 - judging by the snippet you sent, you're potentially using a very old version of Vortex, you can confirm the version by looking next to the window buttons at the top right. If the version is not visible, it's a clear indication of a very old Vortex version. Stable is currently 1.13.

Is there a way I could update manually? I can't interact with the application itself at all due to the error message.
showler
You should be able to just download the latest version from the Nexus Mods page for Vortex and install over the top of the old one.
